Rabbi Schneider - Open Your Heart to the Truth
A very important scripture comes from the Gospel of John. Chapter five, verse 39, Yeshua is saying to the Pharisees who just spend all their time studying the Scriptures. He said to them, You search the scriptures because you think in them you have life. Yet it is these that bear witness of me and you refuse to come to me, said Yeshua to them, that you might have life. I wonder how many that are watching this video. You're looking for a life only in studying the word, and you believe that God did these incredible things for Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Peter, James and Paul. But you're not believe in God to do miracles in your own life.
See, this was the problem with the Pharisees. They studied the Scriptures, but they were. They were studying the Scriptures. They were bound by the letter, and they didn't have a relationship with God in the Spirit. But the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is that work in the lives of his followers today. Some people, they believe that, you know, the miracles have stopped.
You know, once the Bible was written, then God stopped doing miracles. It's called cessation of theology. Thinking like that will really block your mind from being aware of God's spirit in your life. Because the Holy Spirit, he's still here. The Bible says the gifts of the Spirit are given to us until we reach and grow up into the full measure of Christ. And none of us are 100% yet completely conformed to Christ image.
So I want to encourage you today to do the same thing in concept that Jesus was encouraging the Pharisees to do. Don't you spend all your time studying the Bible and be rooted just in the biblical history, but open up to the one who in the Bible points us to the living Lord Jesus who's been raised from the dead, and He wants us to eat his flesh and drink his blood so that He can bring us his goodness, so we can impart himself to us in power today.
