Rabbi Schneider - Are You Working for the Supernatural?
TOPICS: Rabbi Schneider: Devotions, Supernatural

Jesus is saying here, truly, truly I say to you, you seek not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Now, this is just a simple admonition here to people that are using God to accumulate earthly things. I mean, some people are turning to God because they want the best of the American dream. Unfortunately, we have people in the pulpit that are using God for riches. Jesus is saying to these people here, you're following me not because you care about me. You're not after the supernatural. You're following me because I made supernatural food for you and you were filling your belly from it.

So we need to recognize that that which God wants to give us, beloved. It's not from the world. First of all, He may bless us with the things of the world. Baruch Hashem. I'm so thankful for all his blessings, the supernatural and the worldly. But the first is the supernatural. It's knowing him. So that's what he's saying. And I hope that you have that same passion. And he says, do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you for on hand. The Father God has set His seal. You know what this says to me? Why spend your life? Why spend your energy? Beloved ones? Why use your efforts? Why make your focus on accumulating things that are going to perish?

I learned that over 40 years ago when my wrestling journey ended. It's like it was great until I walked off the wrestling mat. Then I had nothing. I didn't even know I was. And I said to myself, I got to build my life on something that's going to last. That's what Jesus is saying here. Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you for on him, the father, etc... So I want to encourage you. What are you working for in your life? How much time are you spending going through the magazines to try to figure out the next thing that you're going to buy? How much time do you think about remodeling your kitchen from one room to the next room to the next room to the next room? Always upgrading your house or whatever it is.

Jesus said, don't focus on the things are going to perish. The things that you can't take with you when you die. The things that won't mean anything anymore. If you live to 80 years old. Work for the things that the Son of Man will give you that endures to eternal life. Don't you want to spend your time working to build up the inner strength that the Holy Spirit will give you, so that when you're 60 and 70 years old, you're still experiencing breakthrough into supernatural joy, deeper levels of freedom in the spirit, a greater ability to love, greater freedom from fear. You're gone from glory to glory because you're working for the food that the Son of Man gives you that endures to eternal life. The job's going to end. The water on your house is going to decay. Even earthly relationships change and often fall away. But what the Son of Man gives you, it will endure, beloved.

Let's get our priorities right. And when John the Baptist was calling people to prepare to receive the Kingdom, he called people to repent, to turn to God. And then the Scripture goes on to say that we should bear fruit in keeping with repentance. In other words, if we've really repented, it should be reflected by what we're putting first in our lives. And so you're sure saying if you want fruit that endures, if you want food that's going to give you true satisfaction and not leave you, you've got to make your focus. Me You've got to put me first in your life. Your time. Your treasure. Your finances. What you choose to listen to. The people you hang out with, the books that you read, how you spend your time, everything. It all matters. What you put in your mouth. It all matters.

Let me say it again, friends. It all matters. Every single thing that we're taking into our life, whether it's through our mind, our eyes, our ears, the places we go, everything needs to pass through the filter of is this right for me in pleasing Yeshua? Is this right in walking an ascended relationship with the Lord? It all has to come into Kavanah. It all has to come into focus for strength and breakthrough.
