Hello, it’s great to have this conversation with you. I trust that you’re doing well, and I hope you are keeping yourself well. In the midst of all the turbulence in the world, there is a place of peace and safety that God wants you to slip into or stay in. The Scriptures encourage us to trust Him, and I want to encourage you to trust Him as well. The Scripture tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God has not given us the spirit of fear. I just want to encourage you: don’t fear.
Fear is evidenced by several things. When people have a sense of fear, there is anxiety, and there is compulsiveness. When you are afraid, you want to do something; you want to act in a way to alleviate your fear. The Scriptures tell us to trust in the Lord, and to trust in the Lord is literally to leave things in His hands. While we want to do so many things, we do what we can: you wash your hands, you keep your social distance, and you trust God. The rest is in His hands. You have to trust Him that He is able to keep you, protect you, and preserve you. When we trust Him, He makes good things happen for us.
The psalmist tells us in Psalm 27, «The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?» Isn’t it interesting? He makes a statement and then asks a question. The Lord is my light and my salvation; based on that, why should I be afraid? That is what I want you to know: the Lord is your light and your salvation in the midst of all the darkness and all the chaos in the world. He is your light and your salvation; therefore, you will not fear.
So He says, «The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?» When the wicked came up against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes stumbled and fell. The writer of this Psalm is David, and David understood what are called the vicissitudes of life: difficulties and hardships. Many times he was in crisis, as one world leader or another wanted to eat him up—a lion or a bear wanted to eat him, or a big giant wanted to club him down. For us, it’s not a lion, a bear, or a giant called Goliath; it’s a giant called COVID-19 that wants to eat up your flesh. But the Scripture says they will stumble and fall.
So I pray for you that nothing will eat you up and destroy you. Whatever comes against you will stumble and fall. I pray for you, I pray for your household, and I pray for everything that belongs to you. May the presence of God surround you with peace that passes all understanding, and may God keep you in perfect peace because your mind is stayed on Him. The Lord will keep you, the Lord will protect you, and the Lord will guide you in Jesus' name. Amen. I trust your days will be good, that you will have peace, enjoy life, overcome, and see the end of this crisis. You will live to see its end and rejoice in all the good things that God is bringing your way. Have a great day, have a great moment, and may peace and life be with you.
