Kenneth Copeland - Pray In the Name of Jesus
Welcome, everyone, once again to the Believer's Voice of Victory broadcast. For those of you that don't know, I'm Kenneth Copeland. Let's go back to the book of Daniel, where we opened yesterday. Now, let's begin reading here at the 10th verse again. "Behold, a hand touched me, which set me upon my knees, and upon the palms of my hands. And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright. For when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Then he said unto me, Fear not, Daniel". What? Fear not. Do you have any idea how many times the Word of God says that? When Jairus said, "Come, my little daughter's at the point of death," the death messenger said, "Your daughter's dead. Don't trouble the Master anymore".
He turned around and literally said, Stop the fear, and she will be made whole. Well, that's not a suggestion. This wasn't either. Fear not, Daniel. O man greatly beloved. Now, here's a word of encouragement. 21 days he's been at this, and by this time, he did not anoint himself. By this time, he's pretty ragged, and I doubt if his room smelled all that good. He just locked himself away and just got before God on his face and wouldn't let go. Just stayed there. "Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? And now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia. And when I'm gone forth, lo, the prince of Greece shall come, wicked spirits in the heavenlies".
Do you notice how little this is spoken of? I just observe things, and I watch different things on television. Now, here we have wicked spirits in the heavenlies. Then the apostle Paul brought it out by the Spirit of God and just laid the whole thing out. Now, they did not have the name of Jesus. They had the Spirit. Daniel was a prophet and a powerful man of God. Had visions and dreams. He was a magi. But weapon in use here was fasting and faith in God because he refused to quit. He just stayed with it. So now, "Then said he, Knowest thou whereof I come unto thee? And now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia. And when I'm gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come. But I will show thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth, and there is none that holdeth with me in these things but Michael your prince". He said, "Now I'm going to show you things in the Word. I'm going to back this up". But he literally told him, "Stop fearing".
And I dare say that Daniel never did do it again because he's that kind of man. So now, then we have this model prayer, but Jesus' name was not mentioned in it at all because that was still Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are not in the second covenant. They are the gospels. They are the good news about what happened in the past and carried the prophetic utterances in the first covenant concerning Messiah. Now, they had a certain amount of revelation. But let's go over here now to John's gospel. And they were trying to get Jesus to tell if he was Messiah or not. And the only one he just really came out and told was the Samaritan woman at the well. And after talking to Professor Greg Stephens, I had to repent. I hadn't noticed that Jesus did not say, "Sin no more". He just said, "You've had five husbands, and the man you're living with now is not your husband".
I immediately judged her. But the rabbis brought out and taught Professor Stephens. This could have been her uncle. It could have been the father-in-law of one of the men she had been married to. We don't know how old she was. It could have been her dad. He just said a man. But Jesus was using the Word of knowledge to impress her. And he called her to preach. So what does that do about women in church? So now, let's go over here. Now, remember, God's Word is his will. If you were writing a letter to someone, and you said in that letter, please go and check on my things in St. Louis, and I trust you to do this so that I'll be able to go to Dallas without worrying about that. I wonder if it was his will to go to Dallas. Why did he go to Dallas? Oh, I wonder if that was his will. That's what he wrote in the letter.
So in that letter, I assume that that's that person's will, because you're writing to someone else these instructions. You need to go to the letters. Anyway, so that 12th chapter of John, "Then Jesus, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany where Lazarus was and had been dead, and enraged from the dead. And there they made him a supper, and Martha served". Now, come on over, beginning here with the 13th chapter of John. "Now, before the peace of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come, that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. And supper being ended, the devil now having put into the heart of Judas Iscariot Simon's son to betray him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things unto his hands, and that he was come from God, he went to God. He rose from supper, laid aside his garments, took a towel, girded himself after he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet".
Now, they did not know, they didn't understand until later what he was doing. He told them, it's expedient that I go away. Where are you going? But I will not leave you as orphans. I will send you another comforter, standby, intercessor. He has been with you. He will be in you. So all of this is for when he's going to be in you. And let not your heart be troubled. All right. Thank You, Lord.
"In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you, 'I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I'll come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, you may be also. And whether I go, you know, and you, the way you know.' And Thomas said, 'Lord, where are you going? And how can we know the way?' Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. And no man cometh unto the Father but by me. If you had known me, you should have known my Father also, from whencewith you...' Now, Philip said, 'Lord, show us the Father.' Jesus said, 'Have I been so long a time with you? And yet have you not known me, Philip? And he that has seen me has seen the Father. And how sayest thou, "Show us the Father"? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself, but the Father that dwelleth within me, he does the works.'"
Now, you remember the 8th chapter of Romans? If the Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwell in you, he'll make alive your mortal body. Now, I've been standing strong on that for, well, I have off and on for a long time. But just here recently, I injured my shoulder, and I need some quick, quick. And, oh, hallelujah. But it's a good thing to know where to go to get that. One of the first things I did was call Pastor George to come over and anoint my shoulder with oil. Well, it actually didn't need healing. I needed a miracle. And, but, that's where I started. So now wait. Verily I say unto you... 12th verse, "He that believeth on me the works that I do shall he do also. Greater works than these shall he do, because I go unto the Father. And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask anything in my name, I'll do it. If you love me, keep my commandments, and I'll pray the Father, and he'll give you another comforter".
And they're thinking, what? Well, up until that time, He was the comforter. "I say unto you, He that believeth on me the works that I do shall he do also. Greater works than these shall he do, because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask anything in my name, I'll do it. You could jump right here, and we will later on, to the third chapter of the book of Acts. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up on your feet. Grabbed him by the hand, and up he came. But you couldn't do that yet. In the first place, that happened after the day of Pentecost. Amen. That changed everything. He made a demand in that name. I will pray the Father, and he'll give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever. Even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, but neither knows him, but you know him. For he dwells with you, and shall be in you". How did he dwell with them? In Jesus.
"I will not leave you as orphans, yet a little while, and the world sees me no more. But you shall see me, because I live, you shall live also. At that day, you shall know that I am in the Father, and you in me, and I in you. At that day, at that day, at that day, at that day, at that day, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth. At that day, he that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me. And he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I'll love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us, and not to the world? If a man love me, he will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loves me not, keepeth not my things, and the Word which you hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you. As the world give I unto you, let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid".
Listen to the commandments here. Because I'm telling you, the next day, and that day was the day He was raised from the dead. His Kingdom came. His will had been done on earth as in heaven. Then He then could go back to heaven, having trained these men so that they could go forth and bring it to us. Amen. How we doing on time, Tim? Okay, we have six minutes here. Look at the 16th chapter. Now, continue to read this all the way down to the 23rd verse. "And in that day you shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be made full in his name".
In that day. Well, we're in that day. So Daniel, of course, Daniel's in that day now. But he did not at that time have the name of Jesus. That had not been revealed to him. But if you look back over there where we read, it said, "You will know from scripture". Then he prophesied of it. He prophesied of this day. Praise God. So the authority, once he was raised from the dead, you go back to the garden. The devil stepped over into Adam's authority. Daniel was suffering under that. The blessing was there, but he was suffering under that. The devil became the God of this world. Then Jesus had to go after he was baptized in water and the Spirit of God came on him. Always in him, but he came on him to preach. So his name then, once he was raised from the dead, he took back what Adam lost. That was broken the day he was born. But the day he was raised from the dead, his name was ratified. Hallelujah. And we'll get into that tomorrow. Well, mm, mm, mm. Amen.
So that his name, faith in his name then gives the believer the authority over the same devils that were pushing Daniel. That the only way he had to get through there was to fast his way through it. But we have the name of Jesus in which to stand and when you accepted him as Lord and Savior and became a new creature. When that happened to me, I didn't know anything about the Word. So I didn't know anything about authority or anything else. I found the scripture that said Christ died for the ungodly and I thought, "Well, I sure qualified for that". Then I found another one that said his mercy endures forever and I thought, oh, thank God. And that was a great relief to me. I still did not know that that name was a weapon, sharper than any two edged sword. Glory to God. Because of the covenants of God. Hallelujah. So we'll study that and walk over into that area and we'll learn some wonderful things there. Praise God.
Father, we thank You today and we pray in that name. In the name of Jesus, I pray for all this radio and television audience, everyone in the sound of my voice. And Father, I'm asking You to meet the needs of the people. Rest heavily on their hearts and minds to bring peace and rest where they had no rest. And we praise You for it and for Your healing power. For the scripture says You are the same yesterday, today and forever. And You are the Lord of a better covenant on better promises. We praise You and thank You for it in Jesus' name. Amen. Glory to God.
