Tony Evans — The Detours of Providence
Because even though the storm, they mean it for bad, God means it for good to all who love him and who are called to his purpose. So, leave luck alone. Get you some providence so you can have confidence in the circumstances of life.
One of the great theological concepts in Scripture is the concept of providence. It is the hand of God in the glove of history moving things about to accomplish his eternal purposes and our good.
This is Dr. Tony Evans with "The Urban Alternative," and we're in the midst of a series as we enter this year on detours. Because I'm sure your year, like mine, will have plenty of 'em, unplanned twists and turns in the road of life that we're going to have to navigate.
And that's why we are teaching about God's providence today, about how he uses the good, the bad, the ugly, the planned, the unplanned, people and pain to bring about his purpose. It's called providence.
It's a subsection of God's sovereignty, him being control--in control of everything. Let's see what his providence looks like in the life of Joseph, and therefore what it will look like for you.
