Sid Roth - Mist Appears in Hospital Room
Sid Roth: What would happen if a mist came into your room and all of a sudden you knew things about people! You knew what was wrong with them. You knew whether they were good people or bad people. And it's an amazing gift! My guest, Tommy Combs, bumped into that. Tell me a little bit about this disease you had.
Tommy Combs: We contracted a terrible disease. It was yellow jaundice or hepatitis c and it destroyed my liver. I was 10 years old.
Sid Roth: How destroyed was your liver?
Tommy Combs: It was gone totally! The doctor said I would live maybe 3 or 4 more days totally.
Sid Roth: So there must have been quite a watch at the hospital for you.
Tommy Combs: A full-time 24 hour watch. My parents were prepared. The family was prepared. The doctors told my family 3 or 4 days. His liver is totally destroyed and he won't live a week.
Sid Roth: And did you know this or did they hide it from you because you're young?
Tommy Combs: No, they, they told me. My mother told me that God was gonna heal me. She also told me that get prepared. But we knew it.
Sid Roth: Did she really believe that God was going to heal you?
Tommy Combs: Yes, she did. She did. My grandmother, my mother were the prayer warriors, the intercessors that taught me how to pray.
Sid Roth: All right. So anyway, but you're a young kid.
Tommy Combs: Yes.
Sid Roth: You're watching TV and out of the blue oral Roberts pops up.
Tommy Combs: Sure does.
Sid Roth: And what did he say?
Tommy Combs: He does 'the healing hour,' did 'the healing hour' and he stayed on from 9 to 10 am every Sunday morning in Birmingham Alabama and during that program he would pray for the sick, pray for those who needed to be healed.
Sid Roth: I remember him. And of course being Jewish and not a believer in Jesus at the time I used to be so intrigued by the miracles. It's I didn't want anything to do with this Jesus but I was so intrigued with the miracles. As a young kid I remember seeing oral Roberts. He used to hold his hand up and he'd say touch my hand. So did he do the same thing?
Tommy Combs: That's exactly what happened! That morning he would hold his hand up to the screen and the camera would zoom in and there was nothing on the screen except oral Robert's hand. Nothing. And he would say 'touch the TV. Get up whatever you're doing. Touch the TV and I'm gonna pray for you to be healed'. And that's what happened that morning in the hospital room in Birmingham.
Sid Roth: Explain in detail.
Tommy Combs: We were, my mother and my aunt were praying for me. Oral Roberts was on television. His hand came on the screen. We were watching it. Mother reached over and touched the TV with her hand as he requested. She put her other hand on my stomach and said 'God, heal my boy and I'll give him to you'! Instantly! Instantly! Not in a minute, not after a while, not in a few days, not in a week, not in a month. Instantly! The power of God came into that hospital room. It was so strong. It was a mist. A blue mist. It was so strong and so bright!
Sid Roth: I mean could you, could you see it as a child?
Tommy Combs: I could see it.
Sid Roth: You remember it rolling in like a cloud or...
Tommy Combs: Yeah. Just rolled in like a cloud and it was so quickly it came in, suddenly it came in. And I know everyone saw it. In fact it was so strong that it knocked my mother and my aunt to the floor. That's how powerful it was! The mist, that light went out the room and people were healed in the hallway. Other people were healed on that same floor. The doctors and nurses at the nurse's station ran to my room to see where the fire was. To see what had happened the light was so strong. An orderly actually brought a fire extinguisher down to the room to see where the fire was!
Sid Roth: You're, you're just kidding!
Tommy Combs: No, he did.
Sid Roth: He really?
Tommy Combs: He brought a fire extinguisher down to the room. My mother, and I was instantly healed!
Sid Roth: Well what is going on, what is going on inside of, if you can remember as a young kid, what was going on inside of you? Did you have any idea of what was happening?
Tommy Combs: Not at, not at that moment it was so strong and so bright. But I did notice that it didn't frighten me. That the mist that rolled in and the light of the power of God was so strong that it did not frighten me! I know a young boy laying in a hospital bed and that kind of light hit the room it could be scary but it was not. It was peace. It was good. And I didn't realize what had happened to my body.
Sid Roth: All right. What did the doctor's say? How did, when was the first time they realized that not only did you feel good, not only did you see a blue cloud, not only was your mother and grandmother knocked to the ground, not only were other people healed in the hospital but you got a new liver!
Tommy Combs: I sure did! That day! After that experience I wanted something to eat and that was unusual because they were feeding me with iv's and so they brought me something to eat. The doctor came in and of course the whole hospital was excited about what had just happened. So the doctors came in, more than one doctor came in so they decided to do the test again.
Sid Roth: Sure.
Tommy Combs: Do everything again and the doctor came in the room and said 'he has a new liver'! And his liver is totally restored. Totally...
Sid Roth: So how does, wait a second. I can understand how an oral Roberts would say he has a new liver but how does a doctor deal with that? A medical doctor?
Tommy Combs: Well he had seen the old liver. He knew it was not functioning. He knew it was destroyed by the hepatitis and now he sees the new liver. He sees the functioning of the liver. He sees that the body is no longer destroyed. It is totally healed and he says himself, you know, God healed you! That's what the doctors say. God healed you!
Sid Roth: But something more happened beyond you being healed. You started knowing things. Well when were you first aware of this?
Tommy Combs: Months later. Of course I had no idea at that time on the gifts of God and how the gifts of God operate being a ten-year old boy. But months later we would be in situations and I would tell my mother things about this person or that person or I would know this or I would know that. We call it a 'word of knowledge'.
Sid Roth: All right. But before the mist came in and gave you a brand new liver did you function in that way?
Tommy Combs: No, I did not. When the light came and the mist came and the cloud came the gifts came. And it came unbeknowing to me! I had no idea but it developed over a period of years. But in, within a month I was knowing things.
Sid Roth: But the thing that was even more exciting than that is the encounter that he had in Israel right where the Holy Spirit, the spirit of the living God fell on Jewish people. Be right back after this!
Sid Roth: When Tommy Combs was a 10-year old child he was given 3 or 4 days at the most to live and a blue mist came in and literally he had a brand new liver! That's a 'creative miracle' that happened to you but you got something more than you bargained for. In addition to this brand new liver that the doctors verified he knew things about people. Then many years later he was on a tour in Israel and he went off, and I believe it was the garden tomb to pray, a pretty good place to pray.
Tommy Combs: It sure is.
Sid Roth: And what happened?
Tommy Combs: Well we did about a tour. I wanted to see all the sights of course because I was teaching about Israel and I wanted to learn and visit so we went to the Garden of Gethsemane and we started to pray there and as I sat down to pray I begin to weep violently and I don't cry very much but I begin to cry and I said what, what are you doing to me? I'm talking to God. What are you, what is this? And he says 'you're not doing what I have designed you to do'! I said sir? I call him sir. 'you're not doing what I want you to do'.
Sid Roth: That's a pretty scary statement because from what I understand you were doing more than most people!
Tommy Combs: I was building churches across the world. Doing trips across the world. Teaching. Doing healing miracle services across the world. And he says 'you're not doing what I want you to do'. I said well what do you want me to do? I asked the question. He says I'll tell you tonight. Why didn't he tell me then? So 4 hours later we go to...
Sid Roth: Just out of my curiosity what's going on during those 4 hours? I mean I would be a wreck!
Tommy Combs: Right. We went to some other sites but I wasn't interested in the other sights. I was interested in hearing from God. What God, what have you got to tell me? I wanna know! So about 8 pm that night we went to the upper room where they say the upper room happened, the day of Pentecost happened. And we're there and we have a small service.
Sid Roth: 'Shavuot' for us Jewish people.
Tommy Combs: So we go there and we have about 30 minutes in there and during that service the pastor called me out to the front. Come up here! So I went up and he said I have a word from God for you. See I've been waiting 4 hours to get this word and now he verifies it.
Sid Roth: It must have been a very important word for God himself to tell you and then the word to come forth!
Tommy Combs: Yes, that's right. So I said yes, I've been waiting. He says give me your hands. I held my hands just like this. He says God said to tell you 'lay hands on the sick and he will heal them'! Boom, boom! I'm gone in the upper room. The Holy Spirit of God...
Sid Roth: How, how, when you say 'you're gone' the Spirit of God came on you? You fell down?
Tommy Combs: Yes, to the floor.
Sid Roth: For how long?
Tommy Combs: 30 minutes!
Sid Roth: Could you have gotten up if you wanted to...
Tommy Combs: No.
Sid Roth: 10 seconds later?
Tommy Combs: No. And that's when the healing gifts of the gifts of God really started operating in our lives!
Sid Roth: And before that time you prayed for the sick and once in a while the person would be, would be healed. But something changed at that point. So it's 40 days later you hear from God?
Tommy Combs: Yes.
Sid Roth: What did God tell you?
Tommy Combs: I'm on the interstate system in Birmingham Alabama traveling toward my office and that same voice that spoke to me in the Garden of Gethsemane says 'what are you gonna do about this man'? Gave me his name. Haven't seen this guy in 8 or 10 years! But I know him. If I saw him I would know him and recognize him. I said what do you want me to do about him? No answer. I said well, I called my mother on the car phone.
Sid Roth: Now just out of curiosity do you hear God often like that or was that a special moment?
Tommy Combs: No, I tried to stay intimate, close enough to him that I can hear his voice. I think that's very important to all of us is to hear the voice of God and if we stay that close to him we can hear his voice. So he said 'I'm not gonna tell you'. So I called my mother. I said tell me about this guy. God just spoke to me and gave me this man's name! She said Tommy, that man is dying with pancreatic cancer in the hospital in Birmingham Alabama. I turned around at the next exit. Went downtown Birmingham. Found him. He's in the cancer section of the hospital dying with pancreatic cancer. I walk in the room. He's surprised to see me. I'm surprised to be there! I said what's happening? He said I'm going to die. I said what are the doctor's doing? He said watching me die! I said how long did they give you? He said a week, maybe. What is it? He said cancer of the pancreas. My pancreas is destroyed. I said let me pray for you and he said yes. And I prayed. I took my coat off and I laid on him and I put my hands on his stomach and asked God to create a new pancreas in this man!
Sid Roth: Well wait a second! Again you know me! I wanna find, why did you, I mean this isn't normal! Why did you lay on this man that is dying?
Tommy Combs: That's the way he told me to do it!
Sid Roth: He told you exactly to do that?
Tommy Combs: Yes, he told me how to do it. I laid, I laid my hands on him. I laid my body across his body and God healed him! I didn't heal him. God healed him! And 2 days, that instantly healed him. They kept him 2 days just to do the tests, do what, he's got an absolutely brand new pancreas. Not a drop of cancer. Now listen. When you have cancer it's the residue of that cancer will stay in your bloodstream. He has no residue in his bloodstream!
Sid Roth: You were healed as a ten-year old.
Tommy Combs: Yes.
Sid Roth: And you knew the power of God. You had, you had a creative miracle...
Tommy Combs: Yes.
Sid Roth: ...Of your liver. In fact very similar. Then you have this miracle where you're praying for someone. What do you feel with such an awesome gift? What kind of responsibility do you feel?
Tommy Combs: Oh, I want to pray for so many I don't know what to do. I want to be there with them. When I hear of someone, I get a call about someone, when the call comes in I pray for them over the phone. Let me tell you one about a cell phone. You know...
Sid Roth: I'll tell you what! Get your cell phone ready!
Tommy Combs: Yeah, that's right!
Sid Roth: We'll come back right after this segment. But you're about ready to walk into those same miracles, those same creative miracles! Don't go away!
Sid Roth: Now I've heard a lot of commercials for cell phones but I have never heard of someone being healed through a cell phone! I mean verizon, sprint. You better listen right now! Tommy Combs, what happened with that cell phone?
Tommy Combs: You know most of the time we go to churches someone early on in the service will say turn your cell phones off so we won't disturb the service but this day a cell phone went off in the middle of my sermon. I'm speaking. And the cell phone goes off. The lady answers the phone. Gets out of her seat and walks down to the altar. Stands right in front of the podium. I was nice. I said 'yes, ma'am'. What could I do for you? She says this is my dad calling. He has stomach cancer. Will you pray for him? I said where's he calling from? She said Columbia South America. Give me the phone. We all got in agreement according to Matthew chapter 18, verse 19. We get into an agreement prayer. We pray over the cell phone and God heals the man in central America Columbia of stomach cancer. That's the reason I say leave the cellphones on!
Sid Roth: Well you know what that tells me? If someone can get healed through a cell phone they can get healed through this television show or a video of it! Tommy, one more person. That woman that had cancer you were telling me about.
Tommy Combs: I got a call from the woman's father. He said would you come and pray for my daughter? She's dying with cancer. I said sure so my wife and I go to her home to pray for her. You go in and she's laying on a couch in her living room. You could actually smell the death, smell the cancer in the room. So we go in. I sit down beside her. My wife is there. Her mother and daddy are there.
Sid Roth: So you can actually smell a spirit of death?
Tommy Combs: Yes. You can go in, especially cancer, you can go in and the smell is there. So I said what is it you wanna do for God? You know if you've got something you wanna do for God he'll heal you! If you've got something you wanna do for him he'll let that happen. She said I teach a Sunday school class at the little Baptist church up the street. I've got 2 children, one 8 and one 6. I'd love to raise them and be with them and provide for my husband. So I asked her mother who was standing beside the couch, I said do you believe God's gonna heal your daughter right now? She said I don't know.
Sid Roth: Well at least she was honest.
Tommy Combs: She was honest. So I reach up and touch mother on the side of the face and the Holy Spirit of God takes mother to the floor. She falls prostrate under the power of God! I look at daddy and he said I believe!
Sid Roth: Well you would say you believe too, wouldn't you!
Tommy Combs: Yes. So we come into agreement. We pray 'i curse cancer'. You've got to speak to cancer. You've got to speak to the spirit of cancer. You've got to talk to it. I curse it. Tell it to leave her body! You've got no authority here! I take authority over cancer or any disease in the name of Jesus I take authority. Then I curse the death and say 'death,' you've got to leave this woman! You cannot stay in this home any more. You must go in Jesus' name. Pray for her. Anointed her with oil and left. Left.
Sid Roth: She wasn't healed?
Tommy Combs: Not to my knowledge. I mean I prayed for her. I believed God healed her. I knew God healed her but I didn't see anything. She didn't jump up and say I'm healed.
Sid Roth: Okay.
Tommy Combs: She didn't run around the room or anything. She just said thank you for coming and prayin' for me. I said do you receive it? See it's important here when I said that. Do you receive it? She said 'yes! I receive my healing'! That's very important that people say that. They've got to speak it so their own ears can hear it. I'm healed in the name of Jesus! The next morning, that was Thursday afternoon, Friday morning she gets up and cooks breakfast for her husband. Cleans the house. Saturday morning she goes outside and works on her rose garden. That hasn't happened in 3 and a half years. Sunday morning she goes to the little Baptist church and teaches Sunday school and they're all in shock because she's at church teaching and walking around. On Monday morning she goes back to the hospital in Birmingham. They give her blood tests, cat scans, x-rays. She's totally healed! Now listen. The cancer had eaten her stomach. It had come out her back and there was a hole in her back. You could see her intestines and God just smoothed that and made perfect skin again. She has no residue of cancer in her bloodstream.
Sid Roth: What did, that's, that's unusual. Why?
Tommy Combs: Yes. Because if you had cancer 20 years ago they can give you a blood test today and say you had this maybe years ago. The residue. That's what the doctors call it.
Sid Roth: Tommy, let me tell you. The Spirit of God is so strong right now that I believe if Tommy does what happened to him as a 10-year old child, if he holds his hand up and you put your hand on his hand, as he speaks by the Spirit of God you are going to be healed. The presence of God it is so strong you're getting healed even before he prays! That's how strong it is! Tommy, pray right now.
Tommy Combs: Lord, we come to you today and we thank you Heavenly Father for everything that's happening right now. Many people are, if you need a healing in your body of any kind I want you to get up and touch the TV screen and touch my hand. In the name of Jesus I command the power, the healing power of God to flow right through these cameras, right through these airwaves right into your home. I come against all kinds of cancer, leukemia, and blood diseases. You're being healed right now in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord I come against a brain tumor, cancer of the breast, cancer of the stomach. Livers be re-created. Ulcers leaving bodies right now in Jesus' name. Lord, it's happening right now. Sid as I know the power of God and we're coming into agreement people are being healed right now in Jesus's name. I see migraine headaches, backs, scoliosis is being healed in children. I see it happening right now in Jesus' name. Lord, we thank you for the healing. I feel the healing power of God, the anointing of God as it flows right now. Someone who has, club feet on a child. A creative miracle is happening right now. A child your feet is turned and that the club feet on the child and God is straightening those and I want you to call the Sid Roth ministries. In Jesus' precious holy name. God we honor you for what you're doing. Blind eyes. There's someone watching in a child and the eyes are crossed. The eyes are crossed. In Jesus' name I command it, in Jesus' name those eyes just went straight in Jesus' name! I saw it happening! I saw it as God did it! Lord we honor you for that. We honor you. Deaf ears are coming open in Jesus' name! Someone has a terrible, terrible pain in the rotator cuffs on both sides and God is healing them! You will not need that operation. You will not need the rotator cuff operation because God is miraculously healing you right now in Jesus' name. Lord we honor you again. We thank you for everything that's happening here. We honor you. We praise you! In the precious name of Jesus Christ it's done! And it's done now in Jesus' name!
Sid Roth: Let me tell you something! I know that it's done! We're going to get more letters of people that have been healed in the entire history of our organization! I'm convinced of that!
