Rabbi Schneider - Let's Get Refreshed Today
Here we go to the Hebrew scriptures today, the book of Isaiah, chapter number 40, verse 31, scripture, many of us know, let's get refreshed by it. A fresh and a new today. Isaiah writes, "Yet those who wait for the Lord. Will gain new strength..". As you just sit before the Lord waiting on him, God promises to renew your strength. "They will mount up with wings like eagles".
When we just sit at the Lord's feet, like Mary did in the Gospels, he's going to impart himself to us. And eventually, we're going to rise up in his strength. "Like eagles with wings, they will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weary". This is such an important concept. This concept of waiting on God. In the culture that we live in today that's moving so quickly with the Internet and technology, everybody trying to be more efficient and get more work done faster. It's a lost art to wait on God. But the Bible says, "Be still and know that I am God".
If you want to walk in the power of Hashem, if you want to live by the power of the spirit, then you need to spend time every day, beloved, just as I do, simply waiting on God. Just sitting in a chair, sitting on a couch, maybe with beautiful worship music, playing. And am I talking about wild worship music? I'm talking about soothing, gentle worship music, because the Holy Spirit is gentle. Just waiting there.
You might feel that nothing's happening. Even your thoughts might wander, but God sees you. And He's a rewarder of those that diligently seek him. And He's promised us that if we would just wait on him, just face him, even when it feels that nothing's happening, even when it feels unpleasant. You do it as a discipline. Do you know, what's going to happen? You're going to gain new strength. You're going to be rising up with a fresh importation in the might of God Almighty, like an eagle with wings. "Not by might, nor by power, but by my Ruach, by my Spirit, says the Lord".
