Summary
This spontaneous prophetic message speaks of a generational shift in the Spirit—a "changing of the guards"—where faithful older generals like Bill Johnson, Randy Clark, and Heidi Baker pass the torch to a rising generation of leaders. Drawing from the story of Elijah and Elisha in 2 Kings 2, the preacher emphasizes that receiving a greater mantle, even a double portion, comes through faithfulness, honor, and a willingness to pay the full cost for God's glory. She declares that God is raising up new generals in this hour who will carry an unprecedented move of revival, calling those present and watching to give their full "yes" to Him.
Sensing the Glory and a Spontaneous Shift
Yeah, I just like the weight of the glory. It is definitely increasing as we’re here worshiping the Lord and focusing on Him. Hopefully, you at home are also sensing that. Anytime you want to lean more into the glory, just focus on Him and begin to gaze, lift up your heart toward Him, and let your attention go toward Him. He comes in greater power.
But I had a message planned, and I feel we’re going to go in a different direction here right now, so just pray that it flows, because this is kind of spontaneous here.
A Changing of the Guards
What I was sensing prophetically is that today marks something; this season marks something in the spirit regarding a changing of the guards in a way, and that we’re going to see a shift in history that is going to display greater glory in God. I just feel that. Just let the Holy Spirit lead you, Adam.
What was brought to my attention was that in every historical move of God, man, I feel so weepy right now, there are those that God has raised up to carry His glory in that particular move, to deliver His word, to open up His heart and reveal His heart to the generation at that time.
What happens is it actually gets established in the eternal history of the work of Jesus in the earth. If you look through biblical revivals and historical church revivals, you will see in every single one that there are people God has marked to serve Him and to carry the glory of that season in Him.
Faithfulness Prepares the Way
They don’t get there overnight. Sometimes, children can be visited by the Spirit of the Lord, like we saw with Samuel, for example, and then he grew in the Lord. How did he grow? He grew by laying his head by the ark, sleeping right by the ark, resting there, attending to everything.
He did a lot of practical things; he learned how to steward things well in the house of God, even when his own leader wasn’t walking uprightly. He brought his heart before the Lord and let the Lord nurture that heart, and he was diligent, faithful, and obedient. He faced hardships.
You could look at any leader in the Bible, any revivalist in history, and you will see that as they walked with God and carried the burden and glory that God had entrusted them with, they faced all kinds of hardships. You can read about it in Hebrews 11—all the heroes of the faith that faced so many things, but they kept the faith.
Those hardships seasoned them and enabled them to be trusted by God to put a whole move in their hand that they would steward for God—something that had eternal essence and value, something that was going to be planted in the very fiber of eternity. He used mere people to do it—people who were set apart, consecrated, and who loved Him.
Honoring Modern Generals
I was thinking about just recent history; right now, we have generals in the older generation—generals who weren’t always generals. Because when you become a general, you don’t become a general overnight. You are tested and proven over and over again.
You are given weaponry; you are given strategy, and that gets tested and proven and worked through so that you can bear the weight of what a general carries. I was just feeling so much honor this morning as we were worshiping.
I was thinking of some of my own heroes, like Bill Johnson, for example. I just love him so much. I knew Bill Johnson way back when, before the renewal. In fact, our team used to go down to Mexico, stay at their church, crash on their floor, and have showers in their building while we were on our way through. They were always so kind and good.
But he was just faithful in pastoring. Then he got a vision for the city and started really serving in the city, serving the needs. He was always humble. I always knew him as so humble, so diligent, and such a servant—a servant heart. He was never one of selfish ambition or anything like that.
When he got visited by God in the 1990s and started walking with the Spirit, God entrusted him with carrying a breakthrough for the nations—a breakthrough in church history, where he introduced and modeled kingdom culture to a whole generation and brought transformation to the face of the church. He’s just a man of God who loved the Lord and was faithful in his gift and faithful in his calling.
Then all of a sudden, at some point, he was seen as a general. I’m sure he didn’t even know the moment when he became a general, because it’s just something you walk into as you’re walking with God. You realize that He’s entrusted you with these great things.
I was just a voice of the prophets with Randy Clark, and he’s another one of my heroes. I’ve known him for many years—probably 28 years. He’s always been such a humble man, yet so faithful with what God gave him to work with, to move into.
He studied to show himself approved, and he was faithful, faithful, faithful with his gifts. Then the time came when he found himself in the midst of serving a global revival to the people and igniting it in every nation. It’s just phenomenal.
I looked at him at the conference and thought, “Wow, you are such a faithful general.” He became a faithful general by being a faithful young man.
Heidi Baker, another hero of mine, I have known her for many years before the revival broke out in Mozambique. When she was struggling and just not knowing what to do, there was failure all around her.
But she had been diligent and faithful to put her hand to what the Lord invited her to serve in. Then all of a sudden, a suddenly came, and everything changed. Overnight, she was entrusted with a level of glory and anointing that very few could be trusted with.
She’s become one of the most significant voices in missions—one of the most fruitful missionaries in our day. She’s a general for sure, but she wasn’t always a general.
A Generational Shift Is Coming
I mean, we could go on and on just mentioning these few right now because I know them personally, and we’re all about in the same age group, which means that in this age, there are generals being raised up.
When you look back at the time that the shift came, they were only in their mid-40s, late 40s, early 50s—just a little bit older than you. I feel in my spirit that there’s going to be this shift right now, where the generals who have run their assignment and run it well will have fruit that remains.
Your fruit always needs to remain, of course, but there’s a blessing from the generals on the next generation of generals that God is raising up. There is a revival coming, an outpouring of the Spirit that will be like none other.
We don’t even know how to prophesy it because we don’t know the elements of it, but we do know that it’s raw Jesus inside of it. So when you get inside of Him and He displays what He wants to do, you start carrying it, and then you become a world changer.
It costs you everything. It does cost you everything, but He is so worth it. He is so worth it, and this scripture just came to me about Elijah and Elisha.
The Story of Elijah and Elisha
Elijah knew that he was going to depart to be with the Lord, and he was faithful. Elijah was so faithful—not perfect, but faithful. He was faithful to handle everything that God gave him to do.
Some of the things he didn’t do perfectly, but his heart was toward God, and he bore much fruit, operating in great power. To this day, we celebrate and honor Elijah because of what he displayed.
Yet in the New Testament, it says that he’s a man just like you and I. His frame is like ours, right? But he was this great general, and he knew he was going on.
Elisha had been faithful to serve alongside of him, faithful to serve alongside. He would bring water to him and look after his natural needs. He would serve him as he was ministering spiritually, and he learned and gleaned, being faithful to this amazing prophet.
As Elijah was getting ready to go, I think he was testing Elisha because he said, “You stay here. I’m going to go on; you stay here.” And Elisha said, “No way, I’m going with you; I’m not leaving your side. I’m going with you.”
I feel that when the generations shift in the spirit from one to the other, carrying the torch, we go with the generation that went previously. We don’t just stop and let them go on and then go in a different direction.
He went with Elijah, and then he gets to the next place, and Elijah says, “You stay here.” He says, “No, I’m not staying; I’m going with you all the way.”
It says in verse 8 of Second Kings 2, “Elijah took his mantle, folded it together, and struck the waters, and they were divided here and there so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.” Two generations crossing over on dry ground.
When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”
He didn’t say a double portion of your anointing; he didn’t say a double portion of knowledge. He said, “Let a double portion of your spirit, of your heart, your connection to God—what makes you, you—let that portion that I’ve seen you operate in, in the Lord, the faith that you have stood in with God, the glory that you have known—I want that position in me. I want that upon me.”
Asking a Hard Thing
Elijah just said back to him, “You have asked a hard thing.” Now, I don’t believe Elisha asked for a double portion just so he could say, “Well, I just want to get blasted. I want your blessing, just blast me, and bless me. I want to be known as the great Elisha with a double portion of Elijah.”
He had no selfish ambition in him. He left all that behind when he left his oxen behind and burned their yokes and followed Elijah. He left everything behind; he had no selfish ambition, but he was passionate for the glory of the Lord.
The reason why he asked for a double portion is that he was going to need it. You see, when Elijah was alive, he confronted Jezebel, but Jezebel wasn’t dead yet. Jezebel and Ahab were still alive and well, and there was stuff going on.
Even though there had been a prophetic confrontation on Mount Carmel, the people of God still had not turned. It was still a very difficult day that they lived in; there was corruption, there was waywardness in God’s people, and things were out of order.
Elijah had been so faithful, and Elisha saw this, but he knew that what he needed was a double portion to complete God’s agenda for that day.
It wasn’t like we can never just say, “Oh, I want your mantle; I want this; I want that,” because I just want to be known as a great person. No, that’s got to go to the cross.
We can’t ever go anywhere near there, because if you do, you have no idea of the cost of that mantle. That’s why Elijah said to Elisha, “You have asked a hard thing.”
Was it hard for God to give Elisha a double portion? That’s not hard; there’s nothing too difficult for the Lord. That’s not why he said it was hard.
It was just that Elijah knew what it cost to get the first portion. He knew it cost him everything. He knew the agony; he knew the warfare; he knew the pain; he knew the aloneness. He knew everything that went with that single portion.
He said, “You are asking a hard thing; do you know what you are asking?” I believe Elisha did; I believe he really knew what he was asking, and he was willing to give his life to the purposes of God, no matter what the cost.
Seeing the Departure
We are going to see a generation raised up in this hour—a generation of leaders who will be raised up in this hour who will say, “It’s not about me, Lord; it’s about You. I will do whatever it takes, and I will give You whatever You need, no matter what the cost, no matter how hard, no matter how taxing it is.”
He said, “You’ve asked a hard thing; nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you. But if not, it shall not be so.”
Jesus told His disciples, “I’m going, and when I go, you’ll receive the Spirit, and when I go, you’re going to do greater works than Me. Greater works than these shall you do, because I go to the Father. You’re going to do the greater works; you’re going to have a greater portion.”
But here’s the key: you have to see me. When you can’t see me, when you can’t touch me in the flesh, when you can’t understand anything that’s going on, if you see me, then you’ll be able to do these works.
If you are connected to Me, if you are connected to who I am, you will do these things. That’s why Jesus said, “I’m with you always, even unto the end of the age.”
Elijah was saying to Elisha, “You’ve known me; you’ve watched me walk with God. So when I go, you will not be left alone. If you can see me—if you can see me, you can have the mantle.
If you can see the anointing, if you can see the works, if you can see the devotion, if you can see the Lord that you saw on me all those years after I’m gone, then that mantle will come.”
As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire that separated the two of them, and Elijah went up in a whirlwind to heaven.
Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw Elijah no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.
He also took up the mantle of Elijah that fell from him and returned and stood at the bank of the Jordan. He took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him and struck the waters, and said, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?”
That’s what he was looking for; that’s who he was looking for. He wasn’t looking for some energy in the spirit or a lightning bolt or something or an angel to show up.
He said, “I want the Lord God of Elijah—the Elijah that I watched move in the power of God. I know it wasn’t about him; it was about the God whom he served. I need the Lord God of Elijah to be my God right now in this season to complete this work.”
When he also struck the waters, they were divided here and there, and Elisha crossed over. He crossed over, and Elijah’s mantle had now become his mantle because the Lord God of Elijah was visiting Elisha.
He did double the miracles. The double portion was definitely there, manifesting in all kinds of different ways.
A New Generation Rising
I believe that in this day—I’m speaking prophetically right now—we are going to have a move of the Spirit in these coming days that God is preparing His leaders for now.
Those who will listen to Him, those who will walk with Him, those who will pay any price to be with Him in this next move—so yielded, so listening, so willing to obey—who are not in it for themselves.
It’s not about what they can get out of it or the name they can have or the popularity or the money or anything. No, it’s just the nature of the Elishas rising up again and saying, “God, I’ll abandon everything for You to give You what You’re looking for.
I’m going to look for You—the Lord God of Elijah, the Lord God of Elijah. Come and speak to me; lead me, guide me, empower me, because You’re all I have, and You’re all I need.”
I see a generation of leaders being raised up right now. You might be in your 30s; you might be even younger than that. You might be in your 40s, but God is calling you now.
He’s giving you assignments. Some of you already have the scroll in your hand; you already know that assignment. As you’re faithful with that assignment and as you’re faithful to God in it, there is going to be an exponential increase of anointing on you, an exponential increase of authority, a fruitfulness that you’re going to see in this next season.
As you receive that, God is going to empower you for more. As you’re faithful with the more, again, you will get empowered again for more and more.
Eventually, you will find yourself standing before God and having Him call you His general. You’ll just say, “How did this happen? How did I get here? How did I get the influence You’ve given me? How did I get the fruit that You’ve given me?”
It’s just from walking with Him and taking that mantle, taking the power that He’s given you, taking the Holy Spirit who is such a beautiful gift and saying, “God, I’m living my life for Your glory.”
I don’t know what this next move is going to look like, but I know that the younger generation is going to carry a very sharp edge in this, and don’t be surprised if everything that you’ve been going through in your life, as you’ve been yielding to the discipline of the Lord, as you’ve been laying your life out and consecrating your life, don’t be surprised if you find out that it was the very thing that prepared you to carry a great move of God.
Honor and Readiness for the Next Move
It’s going to take an army in this next move, and one of the keys is the way that you treat those who have gone before you. You see, Elisha was full of honor; he never dishonored Elijah.
David never dishonored Saul. I’m sure many of us would have thought maybe he should have, in our unredeemed thinking. But you see, David understood what it was to be a general; it was in his DNA, and he understood that it would take honoring a leader who wasn’t even doing good to him, that he would honor and love well and walk in the truth.
God had him marked, and in the right timing, after going through many trials and tribulations, having his character tested, his anointing tested, and his obedience level tested, then David finds himself in a place to this day as one of the greatest examples of leadership that we have in the eternal kingdom.
He was just a young man who was obedient to God—obedient to God’s direction, obedient to God’s word, obedient to do everything that God led him to do, and he did it in faith.
I feel so strongly in my spirit that there’s greatness in this room. There’s greatness in those who are watching right now, and His name is Jesus. He is greatness, and we get to yield to Him in these coming days like never before and lay our lives out before Him and just wait and see what He’s going to do.
Anyone who wants to be in this next move is not going to be left out; we all have a different role to play, and we’ll play it well. We’ll serve Him well.
If He needs us to be like what Elisha did to Elijah and just pour a cup of water out for him, or those who served David in real practical areas—just doing what needed to be done—then there will be honor in that.
If it’s to lead in different areas, then we’ll serve Him by leading, and we’ll serve Him well. When it costs us everything, we’ll just give it all to Him freely and joyfully because He’s worthy.
We will refuse to hold to a form of godliness and deny the power because what we’re going to see coming is going to be mighty presence and great power, and God wants us to be ready to serve Him in it.
We cannot touch the power with proud hands; we touch the power with humble hands and with a humble heart so that only Jesus is glorified in the end.
A Call to Promotion and Yes
If you are in your calling right now that God has called you—you know that you’re called, you didn’t call yourself, He called you—you know it and you’re operating in your calling already.
I want you to stand because I feel promotion in the spirit today. I just feel the Father’s pleasure for each and every one of you.
As a mother in the faith, I feel the pleasure of the Father’s heart over you, and I see a promotion in the spirit for you. He says you’ve been faithful, and I want to bring you to your next level.
Will you say yes? Even though it might be a hard thing in some ways, would you be willing to give me your yes?
If you give the Lord your yes—and you know what? If you can’t give Him your yes, He’ll love you the same. Your yes will cost you; He will love you the same even if you don’t give Him your yes.
But if you give Him your yes today, there’s a greater empowerment of grace that’s coming on you for the days ahead. So if you give God your yes and you want to receive from Him what’s needed for this next season, raise your hands up into the glory right now.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I release the greater glory. I release the greater glory. Thank You, Father. Thank You, Father. I release the greater glory. Thank You, Father.
Oh, let Him saturate you; let Him saturate you. Oh, there’s greatness in this room. His name is Jesus and He lives in you.
I just see your faithfulness—your faithfulness in loving Him and serving Him is marking you to be used in this next move.
This has nothing to do with organized ministry or, you know, “Let’s get the newsletters out, let’s do this, let’s do that.” No, this is about Jesus moving in the earth, and He’s going to move right through you.
Wow, Lord, we just give You our yes right now!
Oh, let Him saturate you; let Him saturate you. Oh, there’s greatness in this room. His name is Jesus and He lives in you.
