Mike Signorelli - Why Morning Prayer Will Change Your Life
TOPICS: Prayer

Summary:
Pastor Mike teaches that starting the day with early morning prayer, just as Jesus did in Mark 1:35, is the key to experiencing breakthrough, greater authority, and a renewed mind in the Christian life. He connects this practice to God's daily renewal of mercies (Lamentations 3:22-23) and the scientific fact of neurogenesis, explaining that the first moments of the day shape our new brain cells for either godly or worldly patterns. The conclusion is clear: by sacrificing sleep to seek God first in a solitary place, we give Him our best, and He responds with wisdom, prophetic insight, power, and provision.

Why Morning Prayer Changes Everything
There are some shocking reasons why morning prayer will change your life. In this teaching video, I’m going to share why Jesus prayed early in the morning and maybe why it’s missing from your life. If you install this one practice, it will completely change your experience as a Christian. So let me not waste any time; let’s jump right in. Mark 1:35 says, «Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place where he prayed.»

What the Disciples Learned from Jesus
Now, the disciples are on record as only ever asking Jesus how to do one thing, and it was, «Teach us how to pray.» I believe it’s because they watched what Jesus is being described as doing in Mark 1:35, going away. And it actually says very early, not just early, but very early in the morning. I know right now you’re like, «Oh, Pastor Mike, I don’t want to hear this.» I’m telling you there’s a reason why you haven’t experienced breakthrough.

There’s a reason why you’re not going to the next level, and this is it. This is what Jesus did. It says, «While it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went into a solitary place.» So I’m going to break down some of the ways that you can access higher levels of authority, influence, and power in the kingdom, but it’s all connected to this one thing right here. Then, if you watch all the way to the end of this video, I’m going to share four very practical and very easy ways that you can install this discipline.

The Mind-Blowing Science Behind It
Let me just tell you something about science, though; this is going to blow your mind, okay? No pun intended. About 1,400 new neurons are made every single day. That means when you wake up in the morning, after a full night’s sleep, you are experiencing something called neurogenesis. And that means you are waking up with 1,400 new neurons every single day. Scientists first noticed this in the 1960s, but the idea that the adult brain could actually produce new neurons, like new cells, was so controversial that it wasn’t until decades later, in the 1990s, that it was widely accepted.

Now, we already know this in the Bible. «So Pastor Mike, what does this have to do with morning prayer?» Okay, just wait. Lamentations 3, verses 22 and 23, says, «The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.» You wake up with over a thousand new neurons every single morning, which I believe, according to Scriptures, prove that he makes his mercies new every day. What does that mean? It’s a new opportunity to make a new mind and a new thought life. Come on, if this is helping you, just hit the thumbs up right now. It’s an opportunity to create a new brain.

How You Train Your New Neurons
So if you wake up in the morning, and the first thing you do is grab your phone and start scrolling through it, you are actually training over 1,600 new neurons to be jealous, envious, and lustful. Come on, I know this is helping somebody. Drop a comment; let me know if it’s helping you. You are taking new neurons that could become anything. It’s like 1,600 soldiers that you can train in the army of God, or you can train these new brain cells to be lustful, perverted, jealous, envious, full of worry or anxiety. So God makes his mercies new every single day by giving you new neurons. You have to choose what you do with them.

Watch this: Jesus, 100% God, but also in a human body, 100% flesh, had to take his mind, those new neurons, and say, «I’m going to get away early in the morning in prayer, and I’m going to submit and surrender these new neurons to the kingdom, and I am going to renew my mind.» Okay?

Pastor Mike's Personal Story
Let me talk to you about my personal experience. My personal experience has always been being a morning person. I know it’s super annoying, and some of you are like, «Pastor Mike, I’m not a morning person.» Well, in somebody else’s time zone, you are. I know there are time zones all around the world. You are in somebody’s morning right now. So you’re a morning person somewhere. You can discipline yourself to become a person who prays in the morning.

For those of you who are saying, «Pastor Mike, I just can’t wake up early,» understand that no matter what time you wake up, it is early morning somewhere else in the world, which means if you were to take a flight there, you would instantly become a morning person in their time zone. So it’s just always a matter of choice, okay? As you begin to rewire your brain and your biology for this discipline, you will begin to experience tremendous benefits. I believe this could be the breakthrough that you’ve needed, but you have to follow along here.

So just give me a few more moments. In my personal experience, as I begin to wake up early and pray before my family wakes up, before the chaos and noise of the world around me begins to cause a low level of anxiety and apprehension, God speaks to me in this time. A personal prayer gives me wisdom and insights into situations before I even encounter them. He gives me prophetic insights. The Lord is still speaking and revealing things before they happen, but you’ve got to wake up and pray before they happen. Come on, is this good? Is this helping you? If this is helping you, you’ve got to hit the subscribe button and join this channel.

The Power of Sacrifice
Okay, come on, let’s keep going. It’s a sacrifice for me to wake up. I would love to sleep in longer, but I wake up and make that sacrifice because God always honors sacrifice. As a matter of fact, I believe it’s one of the ways I can show Him, «God, I’m putting you first.» In the Bible, you can always see that God only accepted sacrifices that represented giving what was first and giving what is best. You are not allowed to give God leftovers. As a matter of fact, «For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten Son,» and Jesus is referred to as the firstborn of all creation. So God gave Jesus, which was His first and His best. Then, when Jesus was on this earth, he woke up early and gave his first and best to God in prayer. From that place, signs, miracles, wonders, healings, and financial provision were all there for Jesus because he gave his first and his best. It’s a principle throughout Scripture.

Is this helping you? Come on.

Four Practical Tips to Start Tomorrow
Okay, now that you’ve made it to the end of this teaching, I just want to give you four practical tips that you can implement starting tomorrow morning. Okay, so here’s the first one: Don’t delay. Set your alarm and wake up the first time it goes off. If you hit the snooze button, you’re actually programming your brain to delay. You don’t want to be that kind of person. Put your alarm far enough away so that you physically have to get out of your bed to grab it. That’s going to help you. Don’t delay. As a matter of fact, you might be asking, «God, why are you delaying in answering my prayers?» Come on, you don’t delay; God doesn’t delay.

Here’s the next one, number two: Find a spot to pray. You have to make sure that it’s the right spot. If you can find a spot with natural sunlight as the sun comes up, then biologically, emotionally, and spiritually, you will be doing what’s best for your being. I think it’s amazing. I have this back porch area, and I’m fortunate to have that here in New York City where I’m able to go out there. I do it year-round, even when it’s cold. I just think it’s refreshing. But finding your prayer spot is important. Sometimes it’s a closet, sometimes it’s a bathroom, okay? But you’ve got to find a spot.

For years, I was the oldest of five kids in a noisy, crazy house where everybody would wake up and get ready for school. I would pray in the bathroom and then pray in the shower. So you’ve got to find a spot. Here is number three: Don’t get too comfortable. Wherever that spot is, it can’t be a place that will lull you back to sleep. It needs to be a spot that is not totally uncomfortable but not so comfortable that it becomes a distraction. Make sure you find a spot and don’t become too comfortable. Oftentimes for me, I get a cup of coffee; I bring the cup of coffee, I have the Bible out, and then what I do—which leads me to my last and final point—is I remove all distractions.

Final Encouragement
Let me know if this helped you. I’m excited to hear all the testimonies that come from this! If you’ve started to pray in the morning and you’re already seeing benefits, drop a comment and let everybody else know what those benefits are and what you’re experiencing. I’ve had visitations from God through the Holy Spirit where I’ve been weeping. I’ve received prophetic words and warnings about things that are going to happen throughout the day. God has been so faithful to meet me in that time, and I believe that Jesus did it to model for us how we should live our Christian life. Don’t forsake early morning prayer.
