This is day number 24 of 40 days of power. We’re getting there, and God is giving us grace and the strength to complete and to see His glory manifested in our lives.
So we start with 2 Corinthians chapter 1, verse 20: «For all the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him amen, to the glory of God through us.» All the promises of God rest on God Himself. God promises us many things in His Word, but every promise He gives to us is based on Himself. God promises to be good to us because He is good. God promises to provide for us because He is a provider. God promises to heal us because He is a healer. So the promises of God come from the nature of God. Who He is is what gives us the promise that we can trust Him to do all the things that He does for us. Because He’s a deliverer, He promises to deliver us.
So when God makes a promise, it is based on Himself. A promise is a commitment that is made with the intention of fulfillment. So when God makes a promise and says, «I’m going to do something for you,» it’s based on Him. But it’s also because He intends to do it for us. God is not in the business of just issuing promises; He’s in the business of fulfilling Himself in our lives. So all the promises of God in Christ are yes and amen. So God is true; therefore, His promises are true. And that’s the foundation of every promise of God. God is not a man that He should lie. His promises are true; they are the reality, and He doesn’t give us false hope. He gives us reality. His promises are true.
Secondly, God is faithful; therefore, His promises are faithful. That means we can rest our faith in the promise of God. We can trust in His promise. We can be safe in His promise because of His faithfulness. He stands behind His Word. He backs His Word up; that’s His faithfulness. God is faithful. Because of that, His promises are faithful and dependable. God is a creator; therefore, His promises are creative. That’s an interesting thought. It means that when God says, «I’m going to do something,» even if what He wants to do doesn’t exist, He will create it.
We see that from the book of Genesis. When there was no light, He created light. «Let there be light,» He said. To Abraham, who had no child, He said, «I have made you the father of many nations.» That’s a promise, and that promise is based on God’s ability to create what does not exist. So when God gives you a promise, even if it does not exist in creation, He will bring it to pass. He will make it happen. All these promises that God gives to us are in Christ Jesus. When you look at the Bible, all the Old Testament promises that God gave for the redemption of mankind were fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ.
So we say that in Christ Jesus, all the promises of God became yes and amen. Because we have Christ Jesus in our hearts, the promises of God towards us are also yes and amen. That simply means it is done. When God says, «I’m going to do it,» consider it done. Usually, God’s promises to us are in two parts: what He says He would do and what we must do for Him to honor His Word. We call it some condition. God says, «I’m going to do it»; He wants us to do something. Basically, He wants us to trust Him. He wants us to believe in Him. He wants us to walk in His ways and walk in His will, and all His good promises will be fulfilled in your life.
Let us pray. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, Your promises are true and guaranteed. I receive from Your fullness and abundance today in Jesus' name. Amen and amen.»
