Drawing from Psalm 150:1–2, this message calls believers to wholehearted thanksgiving and praise after the 40 Days of Power—praising God everywhere, for all His mighty works, and in a measure that matches His excellent greatness.
Praise the Lord According to His Excellent Greatness
As you know, this week we are focusing on thanksgiving and praise. God has led us through a successful 40 Days of Power, and as we have waited on Him, we now expect His greater works to be done in our lives.
Psalm 150:1–2 says:
«Praise the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty firmament. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness.»
Psalm 150, the final psalm, is a powerful call to celebration. In just these two verses, we find four clear instructions on how and why we should praise the Lord.
Praise Him in His Sanctuary
First, we are told to praise God in His sanctuary—where He dwells. Ultimately, God’s dwelling place is heaven, but on earth it includes places set apart for worship. In the Old Testament, this was the tabernacle and the temple. Today, it includes churches, chapels, and even our own bodies, which are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
This is why gathering with other believers matters. While personal praise is powerful, there is something special about praising God together in the congregation of the righteous.
Praise Him in His Mighty Firmament
Second, we are called to praise God in His mighty firmament. The firmament refers to the vast expanse of God’s creation—the heavens, the sun, moon, stars, and all that exists in the universe.
Wherever we may be—on earth, in the skies, or even beyond—God is worthy of praise. There is no place in creation where praise is optional. His glory fills the universe, and our praise should match that scope.
Praise Him for His Mighty Works
Third, we are instructed to praise God for His mighty works. This includes creation itself, but it also includes everything God has done, is doing, and will do.
Think of what He has done in your life, in the lives of others, and through His Word. Reflect on the victories, breakthroughs, healings, and protections experienced during these 40 Days of Power. There is so much to thank Him for.
Praise Him According to His Excellent Greatness
Finally, we are called to praise God according to His excellent greatness. This means that the measure of our praise should reflect who God is. His greatness exceeds all other greatness, so our praise must go beyond ordinary expressions.
We praise many things in life—talent, achievements, people, even food—but none of these deserve more praise than God. His greatness excels beyond all comparison. Therefore, our praise should be generous, heartfelt, loud, and joyful.
Let your praise be spontaneous. Let it rise freely from your soul. Give God praise that reflects His unmatched glory and power.
Prayer
Let us pray together. Say with me:
«Heavenly Father, You are excellent in all of Your works. I praise and magnify Your name from deep within my soul. In Jesus’ name, Amen and amen.»
