Mensa Otabil - Sing to the Lord

Mensa Otabil - Sing to the Lord
TOPICS: Word to Go

Drawing from Psalm 98:1, the preacher calls believers to respond to God’s victories and mercies with a «new song, ” not just in music but in words, attitude, and faith, concluding that every fresh act of God requires a renewed expression of praise.

Sing to the Lord a New Song

Psalm 98 verse one. Oh, sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things. His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. Sing a new song. This call to worship reminds us that God’s victories always invite a fresh response from His people.

When God does something new for us, we have to respond with a new song. Our words must change. Our rhythm must change, because every act of God must be responded to with a new song. We cannot continue singing the same old songs of fear, defeat, and failure.

Your Words Are Your Song

When God has visited us and shown us so much of His power, the songs we sing matter. A song is not only music; it is also the words you speak, the way you express yourself, and your attitude. All of that together becomes your song before God.

When God does something new for us, we must respond with a new song. When we sing a new song, our words change and our hearts rejoice in what God has done. Even if we cannot see an outward change, we know that God has visited us.

Biblical Songs Born from Encounter

When God visited Hannah and promised her a child, she sang a song. When God visited Mary and promised the Messiah, she sang a song. Singing a new song is an affirmation of what you believe God has already done for you.

So in our praise to God, we sing a new song. We sing a new song because God’s mercies are new every morning. Each day when we wake up, we have a reason to sing, because it is a new and unlived day.

A New Day Requires a New Song

Yesterday may have been difficult, but today is a new day, a new hour, and God’s mercies are renewed again. His favor is new every day. Because the Lord gives us a new day and new opportunities, our song must change.

We cannot keep saying what we said yesterday when life was hard. We must say something new, because God has given us a new day. We sing a new song when we experience something marvelous, even in the simplest moments of life.

Marvelous Things That Stir Praise

Something marvelous can be seeing the sun rise or set, watching a bird in flight, seeing a flower blossom, or watching a child take their first steps. Even a simple smile on a child’s face can awaken a new song in our hearts.

There are many marvelous things that prompt a new song. God also works wonders by changing situations, turning things around, visiting us, revealing His Word, and showing us His power. When we experience these things, we worship and honor Him.

Recognizing God’s Quiet Victories

When the Lord gives us a new victory—something we have battled or prayed about—and suddenly God moves it out of the way, we may not notice it immediately. Sometimes we only realize later that God has worked a miracle.

You may have prayed about pain in your body, and one day it is gone. Weeks later you realize that God has taken it away. When you recognize that God has delivered you with His mighty arm, your spirit rises with a new song.

Let Praise Rise from Your Spirit

Let your spirit exalt in the Lord for what He has done for you. I believe God has worked mighty miracles in your life. So burst forth with a new song, and let songs of praise flow freely from your lips.

Prayer

Let us pray. Say with me, „Heavenly Father, thank You for all the marvelous things You have done for me. My soul sings a new song to You in Jesus’ name. Amen.“
