Mensa Otabil - Renew Your Mind (11/09/2025)
In the middle of the 40 Days of Power, the preacher draws from Romans 12:2 to teach that many of life’s greatest barriers are mental, concluding that true victory comes through the renewing of the mind so believers can walk in God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will.
Halfway Through the Journey
We are halfway through our journey, on the twentieth day of our forty days of power, right in the middle. Romans 12:2 says, «Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.»
Physical and Mental Barriers
We know the physical barriers that confront us. They may be walls, mountains, rivers, or chains that hold us back from becoming what we are called to be. These barriers are visible and obvious, and we often recognize them immediately.
But not all barriers are physical. Some barriers are mental. They can be ideas, thoughts, feelings, or emotions that restrain us. You cannot see them, yet they limit you. Mental barriers can be more powerful than physical ones.
The Battlefield of the Mind
Most of the fights we face in life are mental struggles. They are wars within the mind, battles with fear, low self-esteem, insecurity, and a sense of inadequacy. These thoughts whisper, «I can’t do it. I’m not good enough. I won’t make it.»
These internal voices can be relentless. They shape how we see ourselves and what we believe is possible. If left unchecked, they quietly define our limits and keep us from stepping into what God has prepared for us.
Victory Through a Renewed Mind
The Lord gives us victory in both physical and mental battles. Scripture shows us that the way to overcome mental barriers is through the renewing of the mind. Renewal changes how we think, perceive, and respond to life’s challenges.
The renewed mind helps us discern what is right, revealing the will of God. Romans describes God’s will as good, acceptable, and perfect. This means God’s intentions toward us are beneficial, desirable, and ideal.
Understanding God’s Will
The will of God is good, meaning it always works for our benefit. It is acceptable, meaning it is pleasing and delightful, not harmful or destructive. It is perfect, meaning it is exactly what we need at the right time.
When we understand this, trusting God becomes easier. Knowing that His will is good, acceptable, and perfect removes fear and builds confidence, even when circumstances challenge our understanding.
Breaking Mental Strongholds
One of the most effective ways to overcome mental barriers is to walk in the will of God. This is where His good, acceptable, and perfect will becomes evident and enjoyable in your life.
Low self-esteem, inferiority, painful memories, or hurtful words spoken over you are mental barriers. They attempt to define you, but today the Word of God comes to renew your mind and reshape your thinking.
Thinking in Line with God’s Word
A renewed mind aligns with God’s thoughts. It steps away from worldly patterns and cultural limitations and begins to think according to Scripture. What God says must matter more than what society or past experiences declare.
The renewed mind breaks negative limitations. Thoughts that say you are incapable, unqualified, or disadvantaged lose their power. You do not carry your parents’ mistakes. You live the life God designed for you.
Living in Possibility and Favor
The unrenewed mind looks at problems and says nothing can be done. The renewed mind says, «With God, all things are possible.» It is open to divine solutions and supernatural intervention.
The renewed mind lives in the realm of possibility and favor. It believes God is working good things on its behalf. Let your mind absorb God’s thoughts and live in victory, breaking every mental barrier in Jesus’ name.
Prayer
Let us pray together. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, I align my thoughts with Your Word. I am whom You say I am. I have what You say I have, in Jesus’ name. Amen and amen.»
