Mensa Otabil - God Reigns Over All
TOPICS: Word to Go

On Mount Carmel, after God’s fire consumed Elijah’s sacrifice while Baal’s prophets failed, the people fell on their faces declaring «The Lord, He is God» (1 Kings 18:38–39). Today, we boldly proclaim the same truth: the Lord alone is God over every power, force, and situation in our lives.

Day 32: 32 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Welcome to day number 32 of our 40 days of power. If you join us, we’ve been praying and fasting for 32 days. We have a few more days to go.

The Fire Fell on Mount Carmel

First Kings chapter 18, verses 38-39. Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice and the wood and the stones and the dust and licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, «The Lord, He is God. The Lord, He is God.»

A Nation Turned to Idol Worship

What a remarkable declaration. The Lord, He is God. And this is something that happened in the history of Israel. The king Ahab, Israel went into apostasy, and they started worshiping Baal, one of the gods of the nations around them.

How Jezebel Brought Baal to Israel

Ahab had married a woman named Jezebel. Jezebel was from Sidon, and this was a political marriage to try to unite Israel with its neighbors. But Jezebel came into Israel with her god Baal. She influenced her husband Ahab, the king of Israel, to start worshiping Baal.

Persecution of God’s Prophets

And pretty soon, she began influencing all the prominent people, the important people, to worship Baal. Then they started persecuting the priests and the prophets, sometimes killing them and locking them up. So the worship of Baal had become the predominant worship in Israel.

God Raises Elijah to Confront Baal

It is in the midst of that that God raised a prophet named Elijah. Elijah’s ministry was confrontational. He had to go out there and confront this worship of a false god in Israel.

The Showdown on Mount Carmel

So Elijah called the prophets of Baal, about 450 of them, to a place called Mount Carmel to decide which God Israel should worship. They prepared an offering, a sacrifice, and said that the God who answers by fire is the God that they will worship.

Baal’s Prophets Failed All Day

The prophets of Baal prayed the whole day. Nothing happened. The sacrifice was there, raw meat. Elijah prayed, and there was fire.

The People Declared: The Lord Is God!

When the people saw the God who answers by fire, they bowed and said, «The Lord, He is God.»

What Happened Then Will Happen Again

What happened on Mount Carmel will happen again because the Bible says one of these days at the mention of Jesus, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord. They bowed on Mount Carmel, and they will bow in life.

No Force Can Stand Against You

So I don’t know what force has lifted itself against you, but the Lord, He is God. And so over the earth, we proclaim, the Lord, He is God.

Lord Over Nature and All Creation

Over nature and all the forces of nature, the trees, the plants, the mountains, the rivers, the seas, the oceans, we proclaim the Lord, He is God.

Lord Over Every Ruler and Power

Over every king, over every ruler, and power in any form, political, financial, academic, scientific, we proclaim the Lord, He is God.

Lord Over Every Idol and Evil Force

And over every god, over every idol, over spiritual powers and principalities, and forces of evil running through the earth and trying to harass your life, we proclaim today, the Lord, He is God.

We Have Authority to Proclaim It

And God has given us authority to make that proclamation. Today, we declare that the Lord is God.

The Lord Is God in Your Situation

In every situation of your life, in everything you are going through, in every condition that is trying to turn your life wrong, we declare the Lord, He is God.

Every Knee Bows at Jesus' Name

And at the mention of the name of Jesus, knees bow of things in heaven and things on the earth and things under the earth. So that is our confidence and that is our proclamation today as we honor the Lord for who He is.

We’ve Prayed — Now We Proclaim Boldly

We have prayed. We have trusted Him. And we proclaim boldly, the Lord, He is God.

Prayer of Declaration and Worship

Let us pray. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, there is none like You. There is none besides You. We bow to You and declare Your power over all things in Jesus' name. Amen and amen.»
