Mensa Otabil - God Is Taking You Far
TOPICS: Word to Go

So we go back to the Book of Exodus, chapter 13, verses 4 and 5. On this day, you are going out in the month of Abib. And it shall be when the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites, which He swore to your fathers to give to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month. So God is still teaching them about remembrance, and He’s teaching them to remember where they’re going. God promised them through Abraham; He gave them a promise that He was going to give them a land. Now, after 430 years in Egypt, they are about to start the journey to possess their Promised Land. The journey was not going to be easy, but God was going to be with them.

So, three things I want you to note: First, that God is the one who brings us out, and that’s what He says: the Lord brings you out. God brings us out; He brings us out of bondage, He brings us out from darkness into light, He brings us out from defeat into victory. God has the ability to take you out of whatever difficulty, whatever bondage, whatever threat that comes against you; He is the Lord, your Deliverer. He will bring you out, and He will bring us out even if Pharaoh is the oppressor. That’s the first thing we have to remember.

The second thing is that when God brings us out, He is able to keep us in the way. God doesn’t just bring us out and leave us to wander and lose our direction and get back into bondage. He delivers us from darkness into light, and He is able to hold us in the days and in the moments when we’ve been delivered. You know, many times we experience God’s blessing, His help, and we wonder, can God keep it? Will this thing last? Am I going to lose it? Maybe God heals you, and you wonder, am I going to get sick again? No, God delivers us, and He’s able to keep us in the way.

The third thing is that the God who brings us out is also able to bring us in. That’s the important thing. God wants the children of Israel to keep their eyes on part one; it has been done, you’ve been brought out. Part two is going to happen, but the most important thing is God is going to bring you into the land that He promised to Abraham. The God who delivers is also able to give us an inheritance. The God who touches your life in one way is able to perfect what He has started in your life.

The land had been promised to Abraham 600 years earlier. Can you imagine that? You think God has forgotten? Everybody has forgotten; it didn’t happen after 600 years! But after 600 years, God says, I’m about to fulfill my word. In the meantime, some people have taken over the land that was given to Abraham, actually land that Abraham had also purchased, and the Hittites, the Canaanites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites- all these «ites» have taken over the land. God says, don’t worry; they’ve taken over what belongs to you, but I will give it back to you. So I brought you out to bring you in. I don’t just deliver you and leave you hanging; I deliver you, and then I fulfill the promise that I made to you. He is the God of Deliverance, and He is the God of fulfillment of destiny and of His promise.

Now, I don’t know what you’re going through, but the God who brings you out will also bring you in to the inheritance that He has promised you. Let us pray. Say with me: Heavenly Father, You have brought me out of darkness into Your light. Perfect Your purposes in my life. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.
