Mensa Otabil - God Is Omnipresent

Mensa Otabil - God Is Omnipresent
TOPICS: Word to Go, God's Nature

We’re in the Book of Proverbs, chapter 15, and we’re learning important things about how to act and how to speak. Verse three, Proverbs 15: «The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.»

One of the fundamental truths about God is that He is omnipresent. That means He’s present everywhere, and He’s omniscient; He knows everything and sees everything. He’s present everywhere we are, and He hears everything we say. That means we cannot act on God’s blind side; we cannot act and avoid God seeing and knowing what we have done. He pays attention to everything that goes on.

So, the passage is telling us that we must be mindful that God is watching us. God is watching us. You know, today people have the saying: they say the internet never forgets, and to an extent, that’s true. Even things you delete are stored somewhere; they are kept somewhere, and somebody can retrieve them if they have the right technology. Now, God is infinitely more than the internet; His memory is far, infinitely greater than anything humans can create. And if the internet never forgets, can you imagine God forgetting? He never forgets, and He brings everything into judgment at a certain point in time. So let’s remember, God sees everything.

So, the passage says that He sees the evil we do. When you are planning evil, when you are speaking evil, and the person you’re speaking against doesn’t see it, God sees it, and God hears it. When you do an evil act and get away with it, God sees it, and God will respond to it. So, it’s always important that we don’t get into self-delusion and self-deception. The scripture says that we should not deceive ourselves: God is not mocked, and evil works will not go hidden from God’s sight. On Earth, nobody may see it, no one may see it, and you may never be made accountable for it here on Earth. But if life were only about what is here on Earth, what a miserable life we would have!

There is life beyond here, and the great Judge, who sees all things and hears all things, sees all evil and hears all evil. He will bring everything into judgment, and that’s something we should be mindful of when we are acting and speaking. God sees everything, but He doesn’t only see the evil-that’s good news, isn’t it? He also sees the good we do. He sees the good we do that nobody else sees. He sees when we speak a kind word. He sees when we give a cup of water to somebody. He sees when we help people. He sees when we encourage people.

God sees that, and He sees when we go out and share His word with others. God hears when we pray, when we use words and call on Him; He hears when we lift up hands and praise His name and worship Him. He hears. Why? Because God hears every word, and He sees every act, and He rejoices every time a lost soul is brought into the kingdom of God.

So, for those of us who go out sharing God’s word, God sees every word; He hears every word, and He rewards our actions. Yes, the judgment of God is not only for punishment; the judgment of God is also for reward. Because many times when we talk about judgment, people think God is going to punish people. The same God who punishes also rewards. So, when we sow good seeds, and we speak good words, and we do good acts, God rewards our good deeds. And I pray that God will give you the strength not to stop doing good, because He sees and He hears.

Let’s pray. Say with me: Heavenly Father, help me to say the right things at all times, in secret and in the open. In Jesus' name, Amen and amen.
