Mensa Otabil - New Strength
TOPICS: Word to Go, Strength

This is day number 37 of our 40 Days of Power, and we are getting there gradually. I just want you to know that our 40 Days of Power ends on Monday. This will complete 40 days of prayer and fasting. In the evening, I’ll be leading a communion service and the opening of our Greater West Conference at Christ Temple East of the International Central Gospel Church. I want you to be part of it because after we’ve prayed and believed God, we end everything. So keep that in mind.

In Zechariah Chapter 10:11–12, it says, «He shall pass through the sea with affliction and strike the waves of the sea; all the depths of the river shall dry up. Then the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the scepter of Egypt shall depart. So I will strengthen them in the Lord, and they shall walk up and down in His name,» says the Lord. This is a prophecy that the prophet Zechariah gave to God’s people, and it shows the things that God would do for the deliverance of His people. He talks about specific things that will happen in this process of deliverance. Today, we want to trust that the same things God promised His people in the book of Zechariah will happen in our lives.

There are four things I want you to pay attention to. The first is that the Lord will pass through the sea for His people. This shows the extent to which God will go to deliver His people. He will go through every situation you are in; He’ll come through your affliction and deliver you out of it. So God says He’s going to navigate your situation and deliver you from it. The Bible talks about the sea and the rivers, stating that the rivers will dry up. God is doing something for each one of us. Wherever your affliction is, wherever your pain is, wherever your trouble is, God says, «I’m reaching out to you, to wherever you are, and I’m drawing you out of it.» The Lord, our Deliverer, delivers us from the affliction in the sea and in the river.

The second thing God said to His children is that the pride of Assyria shall be brought down. In this passage, it mentions two nations: Assyria and Egypt. Both of these nations were oppressors of Israel. Israel was oppressed by Egypt at the beginning of its life, and later Assyria was among the nations that took them into captivity. God says, «I’m going to bring down these nations that exalt themselves to oppress my people.» I don’t know what has oppressed you or what system is oppressing you, but we claim this promise of God for our lives: the Lord will shatter the power of the oppressor and set His people free. If somebody has set their eyes on you to destroy you, they are late, and it will not succeed because God will destroy the scepter of Assyria.

The third thing God says He will do for them is that the Lord will strengthen His people. His people, coming out of this situation, are not coming out weak; they are coming out stronger and stronger. That’s what God does for His people. This day, we receive the strength of the Lord. The Lord will make us strong as He shatters the scepter of the evil oppressor.

The fourth thing that God says will happen is that His people will walk up and down in His name. When God makes us strong, we are able to go anywhere; there are no hindrances, no oppressors, and nobody who can stop you from going where God wants you to go. So I declare over your life these promises in the book of Zechariah: you will go wherever God says you will go; you will be whoever God says you will be; and there will be no hindrance, and nothing will stop you from becoming what God wants you to be.

Let’s pray. Say with me: «Heavenly Father, I receive increased strength in You. My path is clear; I can go wherever You want me to go. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.»
