Exodus 4: 27 and 28: And the Lord said to Aaron, «Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.» So he went and met him on the mountain of God and kissed him. Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who had sent him and all the signs which he had commanded him. After that scary situation at the encampment, Moses now had to go out and meet Aaron. They met in the wilderness. Moses ran away from Egypt, hated by both Egyptians and the Hebrews. The Hebrews hated him because he presumed to be their leader, and the Egyptians hated him because he presumed to be a liberator. On both ends, nobody liked him. So God saw that Moses had this fear about acceptance, so He sent somebody that Moses could accept: his brother, his older brother Aaron. Aaron was a family member he could really receive without feeling threatened.
When you read the sequence of events in this passage, God spoke to Aaron at the same time He was speaking to Moses. While Moses was receiving instructions about his mission, God was also telling Aaron about Moses and the mission He had given to Moses. So on both ends, God was speaking to them, preparing each of them to meet for the mission ahead of them. Throughout the Bible, we see that on many occasions, when God calls people, He joins them to other people. God may call us alone, but in calling us, He also calls other people alone and joins them to us. The reason God does that is because He knows our insecurities; He knows our limitations. He knows what we can do by ourselves and what we cannot do by ourselves. So He would always bring people into our lives who are there to help us be the best for Him. Aaron was the man that God had chosen for Moses, and he was right for the moment, just as Barnabas was the man that God chose for the Apostle Paul. Barnabas was well-suited for Paul, and just as our Lord Jesus Christ Himself was connected to John the Baptist-John the Baptist was His cousin. Many people were not ready for Jesus’s ministry, but John was ready for Him. John was the person who embraced Jesus and introduced Him to Israel.
When you look at the passage where Moses and Aaron met, Moses was so comfortable with Aaron that he shared everything that God had told him. However, that can be a very dangerous thing to do -telling people your ambitions, hopes, and plans. But when you talk to the right person, it becomes a blessing, and Aaron was the right person. Moses said, «This is my brother; he’s my older brother, but he loves me and cares for me, and he will sacrifice for me.» Moses told Aaron everything. There are people in your life that God puts in your life with whom you can share everything- your dreams and your hopes. Sometimes it’s a spouse, a husband, or a wife; sometimes it’s a brother, sometimes it’s a friend, and sometimes it’s a mentor. But whoever that person is, God connects you with that person and builds a team between you and that person. Even if they don’t become part of your organization or are not part of your organization, they still become a place of encouragement, security, and safety.
So Moses told Aaron everything-the words God had given to him, the signs God said he should work on, and Aaron did not feel insecure. For each one of us, there is an Aaron we must meet in our lives to help us accomplish our life’s mission. Maybe that person is already in your life. If you don’t know who that person is, then pray and ask God to help you locate that person who is right for you to help you do the things that He has called you to do. Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, you have planted the right helpers in my path. Help me to recognize and receive them. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.
