Mensa Otabil - Signs and Wonders (10/27/2025)
Welcome to day number 28 of our 40 days of power. This week, we are looking at the subject of exercise in dominion. God has called us to have dominion over all things in this world, and He has given us the ability to reign in life. That’s the Christian life. The Christian life is not just about living day to day, but living on top every day and living with Christ every day, and in Him we have an abundance of life.
So, we look at Mark chapter 16, verses 17 to 18: «And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.» The Christian life begins with salvation when we confess our sins and believe in Jesus Christ our Lord. He saves us from sin, and that is what guarantees us eternal life in heaven. But that’s not all that the Christian life is about; it is also about dealing with the realities of life.
Before He left His disciples, Jesus Christ gave them a promise, but this promise was not only for the disciples but for everyone who would come after them, believing in Christ as Lord and Savior. He says, «These are the signs that will follow those who believe.» In other words, these things will mark out those who are believers in Christ Jesus, and the promise is still powerful today as it was when it was first given.
This is what Jesus said: First, they will cast out demons in the name of Jesus. Many of us spend our lives running away from witches, wizards, and all kinds of forces that we think are against us. We are afraid of them. «These signs shall follow them that believe; they shall cast out demons,» Jesus says. If you believe in Me, you will cast out demons. So, instead of running away from demons, instead of being afraid of them, you actually have the power and dominion over them. It is a sign of the believer. May God cause you to walk in that authority as you exercise dominion over all demonic forces.
The second thing Jesus says would be a sign of those who believe in Him is that they shall speak in new tongues. In other words, the Holy Spirit will fill them and give them the ability to communicate with God in a language that is beyond their human understanding. Some of you have had this experience; may it enrich your life as you pray and seek the face of the Lord. It is one of the ways in which we exercise dominion as Christians.
Third, it says if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. He is not saying, «By all means, go and eat poisonous things.» He says if they do. In other words, if someone wants to poison you, harm you, or destroy you; if people are coming against you spiritually or physically, Jesus says they will not harm you. That’s one of the assurances we have as Christians: that Christ protects us. He protects us from danger, from attacks, and from people who want to destroy us. He says they will not harm you, so I say to you, it will not harm you. They may plan it; they may work it, they may throw it, but it will not get to you because you are in Christ Jesus.
Then, number four, He says they will lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Healing in the name of Jesus is not a power He gave only to pastors, clergymen, and men and women of God; this is for every believer in Christ. If you’re a parent and you’re a believer, you can lay hands on the sick, which could be your children. The Bible says they shall recover. Just be bold to take Jesus at His word. It is a sign, and it must follow you.
Let’s pray. Say with me: «Heavenly Father, I believe in Christ as my Savior. Let supernatural signs and wonders follow me wherever I go. In Jesus' name, Amen and Amen.»
