Mensa Otabil - Reigning In Life (10/27/2025)

Mensa Otabil - Reigning In Life
TOPICS: Word to Go, 40 Days of Power

Welcome to day number 27 of our 40 days of power. We trust God that He will guide us each day as we trust Him, as we wait on Him, and as we believe Him for the things that concern us. This week, we are talking about exercising dominion, and we’re looking at ways in which, as Christians, we can exercise dominion over the Earth.

Romans chapter 5, verse 17: For if by one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the one Jesus Christ. God has called us to reign in life, to be masters of our lives, to be on top in our lives. But, you know, the reality most times in our lives is that we are not on top. Sometimes, life can be very, very hard. You feel like life is whipping you, and you’ve been defeated, and things are outside of your control. You can’t manage it, and things are getting out of hand. We all go through moments when it seems like things are going that way, but the reality is that God has given us the power to reign in life.

So how come there are moments in our lives when we feel like life is reigning over us? Life is really treating us very badly. Well, the passage gives us a clue: it says because of one man’s offense death reigned. What is it talking about? It’s talking about the sin of Adam. Adam in the Garden of Eden disobeyed God and opened the door for evil to come into our world and try to dominate us. Because of that one man’s offense, we sometimes feel overwhelmed. We feel like the world is just a difficult place to be in, a difficult place to survive in. But that’s only part of the truth because the passage says because of one man’s obedience we also are able to reign in life.

So, one man’s disobedience, Adam, brings bad things to reign over us, but because of the obedience of Christ-because of what Jesus Christ did, because He died on the cross for us, because He rose again from the dead, because He is our Lord-we now have the ability to reign in life. So you’re either going to say, «Well, you know Adam has brought trouble into this world, so I’m going to submit to the trouble, that’s how the world is,» or you’re going to say, " Christ has defeated Satan, and now He has given me back the ability to reign in life.»

You can decide either to go the way of Adam or the way of Christ. But the Christian life is choosing to trust in Christ, believing in Him. Because Christ is our head, the Bible says we now have the ability to reign in life. If you look at the Lord Jesus Christ in His lifetime, He demonstrated that He reigned in life. He reigned over all kinds of adversities and bad situations, over demonic powers, over sicknesses, even over storms. He reigned in life. Why was He doing that? To show us that in Him we can also rule over life.

So I don’t know what you’re going through and how life has treated you or what has come against you, but Christ gives us the power to rule over everything that is negative, that attacks us, that tries to put us down. We are masters over it in Christ Jesus, and I pray today and throughout this week you will learn to reign in life by trusting in Jesus and fixing your faith in Him, fixing your hope in Him.

If you do, He gives you the keys, the power, the ability to reverse every Adamic curse so that you can live in the abundance of life that only comes through Jesus Christ our Lord. May you reign and reign on top of every situation this week. Let’s pray. Say with me: «Heavenly Father, You have given me the power to reign. By faith, I exercise divine authority over all situations in Jesus' name. Amen and amen.»

Well, I’ll catch you again tomorrow. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
