This is day number seven of our Fresh Start. I trust that you go to church, be part of the congregation of believers, and just lift up your voice and worship God for how far He has brought us into the first part of our Fresh Start.
Job chapter 22, verse 28: «You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways.» The Christian life is not just about living for God. Living for God is a very important part of our Christian life. We need to live righteous lives; we need to live holy lives. But in addition to that, it’s also a life of authority and power, where God allows us to say things, believe for things, and pray for things, and He brings them to pass. This is one of those verses in the Bible that shows us what God can bring into our lives. First, that we can decree a thing. One of the ways God fulfills His promises in our lives is through the words we decree out of our mouths.
Now, it’s not just saying anything that comes out of our mouths. But when we take God’s Word into our hearts and speak it out of our mouths, they have power, and it becomes God’s decree. God says, «I will do something,» and we decree that God will do it. We are only affirming what God has already said, and when we do that, we are establishing God’s decrees on Earth and in our lives. That’s why it’s important for the Word of God to dwell in us richly, so we can speak out of our mouths the Word of God, which becomes God’s decrees in our lives.
So you’re going to learn to do that and to decree a thing, to make a statement, and make a declaration of God’s purposes, God’s intentions, and God’s power manifesting in our lives, and it will come to pass. It says when you decree a thing, it shall be established. Isn’t that amazing that God has given us the privilege to speak His words? He says when you speak His Word, it will be established. So you’re going to learn to do that. God says, «The Lord is my shepherd,» so I decree that I am safe under the command of the Lord. The Lord watches over me; the Lord is my protector.
So when you’re going through life and people say there’s no way, you’re going to decree a thing. You’re going to say there will be a way; God will make a way where there is no way because He is my path; He is my waymaker. That’s how you decree a thing. Most of the time, the things you decree out of your mouth are things that are contrary to what you are experiencing. So if you’re experiencing pain in your body, you decree, «I am healed.» You feel let down, but you say, «I am strong in the Lord.»
You are decreeing God’s Word; you’re making God’s Word established in your life. Go ahead and make those declarations out of your mouth, and then He says when you do that, the light will shine on your path; there will be a burst of light. Darkness will be driven away from your life; every darkness of fear, darkness of sickness, darkness of impossibility around you, you will dispel it by the decrees of your mouth. As we start this new year, it’s a good time to make decrees, to declare God’s Word into your life, into the life of your children, into your home, into your family, into your business, and if you’re a pastor, into your church.
That’s one of the things we have decreed: that it will be a year of gathering. We decree gathering into our lives, into your life. Every fragment that is left over will be gathered, and not just gathered but into baskets, because that simply means God is going to use the leftover of your life to do supernatural and abundant things. May the Lord do all that for you this year. Decree a thing and it shall come to pass.
Let’s pray. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, let the declarations of my heart manifest your purposes through my life. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.» Well, this is the end of the first week of Fresh Start; we start afresh tomorrow. I’ll catch you again on Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
