Well, as you know, this week has been an amazing week. We have been having our Greater Works conference, which was the culmination of our 40 days of power. The word of God has been strong; the presence of God is strong. There is an outpouring of God’s presence, and tonight is our anointing service. I just want to encourage you to be part of it. If you can be at a venue in the evening, physically be there. If you cannot be and you want to plug in online, just connect and be online or watch on TV. But don’t miss tonight because there’s going to be an outpouring of grace, favor, and the abundance of God’s mercy towards His people. So come with expectation; just connect with expectation and let the Lord do what He wants to do in your life.
Well, we go back to Psalm 40, verses 7 and 8. «Then I said, Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book, it is written of me: I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is written within my heart.» If you know the New Testament well, in the book of Hebrews, this verse is appropriated for the Lord Jesus Christ. So this statement will be classified as a Messianic prophecy because, although it occurs in the Psalms, it points to the Lord Jesus Christ and His mission. But beyond the Lord Jesus Christ, it also points to the followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are connected to Christ, and what is His rubs off on us.
The passage basically tells us that God knew about us, He conceived of us, and He chose our way of entering into the world. The passage reveals three important truths about the way God sees us and works with us. The first is that God has written about us in His book. We didn’t just appear on Earth by chance; God knew us before we were born, and God wrote about us. What does God write about us? He writes His purposes for our lives; He writes His intentions for our lives. This is what He wants us to be. When we come into this world, we don’t just come into this world to choose our own way; we come into this world to follow God’s way because God has written about us. We can say confidently to every one of us: God has written about us. He has written about you; He knows about you. He has a purpose for your life, and you will not miss the purpose.
The second thing we learn from this verse is that we are here to do God’s will for our lives because God has a clear plan for each one of us. He also has a path He wants us to follow and a plan to fulfill. The thing in life is that God has given us free choice, so you can choose your own way. Sometimes you can choose your own way and seem to be successful, but you will never have fulfillment and satisfaction because life is not just about achievement; life is about fulfillment. Fulfillment is when you fall into the right space you are supposed to be. It’s like putting a round peg in a round hole; that’s fulfillment. You fit where God wants you to fit. Your life is achieving something far bigger than yourself; it’s achieving a Divine purpose. When we do God’s will, we don’t just become achievers; we become obedient servants of God, and we do what He wants us to do.
The third thing we learn from this verse is that God reveals His purposes to us in our hearts. How do we know what God has written about us? We are not in heaven to know, but God communicates His will to us through our hearts. Although we don’t know what He’s written about us in our hearts, He gives us indications; He gives us a witness; He resonates within us. Sometimes you just feel, as people say, something inside of me tells me this is what my life is supposed to be; this is what I’m supposed to do with my life. It is God’s purposes being revealed in our hearts. I pray that your life will find fulfillment doing what God has written about you.
Let us pray. Sit with me. Heavenly Father, I accept what You have written about me, and I live to fulfill Your purpose for my life. In Jesus' name, amen and amen. Well, be part of the anointing service tonight, and I trust God will touch you. I’ll catch you again tomorrow. Pastor Mensa Otabil, Shalom. Peace and life to you.
