So we conclude our meditations in Psalm 40 with verse 16, and it reads: «Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let such as love Your salvation say continually, 'The Lord be magnified.'» In the midst of His plea to the Lord and His testimony, David makes a plea for all other people who are in situations as he used to be in. David is not only burdened about himself and what God can do for him; he thinks about other people and what God should do for them. You know, many times we get so bothered about our own needs, our own crises, and our own prayers that we forget to pray for other people. That 's what David is telling us to do; let us be concerned about all other people who love the Lord and seek the Lord, that God will hear their prayers as well.
So the first thing he says is, «Lord, bless those who seek You.» Every day, God 's children all over the world go through all kinds of situations. Some go through persecution for their faith; some suffer all kinds of situations in their lives; some are struggling with their faith, but their hearts are for God; they are seeking God. David says, «Lord, bless all those people,» and that should be our prayer also; that everyone who is a child of God who is going through difficulty, persecution, suffering, or moments of doubt and anxiety -may God bless them. We pray that over every Christian in every nation, in every continent, including the Christians in our churches, that God will bless them.
The second thing he says is, «Lord, deliver those who love You.» You know, there are people who love God who still are in America. They love the Lord; they have a heart for God, but they are going through all kinds of pain. As much as David wanted the Lord to deliver him, he also wanted the Lord to deliver all other people who loved the Lord. He acknowledged he is not the only one God loves, and he is not the only one who loves the Lord. When you understand that you are not the only one God favors, not the only one God wants to bless, and not the only one who is serving the Lord, then you can say, «Lord, extend Your mercy, which You have shown me, to other people. Let others who love You, who serve You, also experience You.» We pray this morning that the Lord will deliver all those who love Him and those who seek after Him.
Thirdly, he says, «Lord, magnify Yourself in the life of Your children.» That 's a great prayer! «Oh Lord, be magnified!» When we say, «God, be magnified,» it doesn’t mean God is small, but it means that God will do something in our lives that looms very large. When we see the work of God in our lives, we can say, «Oh, this is a big thing; this is a great thing that God has done for us.» Then the Lord is magnified; we see Him bigger, we see Him greater in our lives. We pray that God will be magnified in our lives, in our churches, in our homes, and in the life of every believer. If you’re going through any kind of struggle in your life and you’re asking, «Where is God?» may the Lord be magnified in your life. If you say, «Oh God, I 've prayed and prayed, but this thing is taking too long,» may the Lord be magnified in your life.
This day, as you go to church to worship the Lord and seek His face, and join other believers in worship, may the Lord be magnified in your life. May His power be exalted in all that you do. In Jesus' name, let us pray. Say with me: «Heavenly Father, bless all those who love and seek You; deliver Your people and give them a new song.» In Jesus' name, amen and amen.
