Mensa Otabil - Open Your Mouth (10/14/2025)
Well, we’ve had a very great week looking at building capacity. We’ve examined how God wants us to stretch what we have, how God wants us to open our minds, and how He is able to take us from one place to another. He can transform our skills from a low level to a very high level. So we try to round up our thoughts for this week from Psalm 81, verse 10: «I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide and I will fill it.» I love this verse: «Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.»
Now, it doesn’t literally mean to just go and open your mouth, but God is telling His children to have a big desire and a big appetite. He says, «I am the Lord who redeemed you out of Egypt.» If you look at it in the context of the entire Psalm, God is talking to Israel, whom He delivered from Egypt, but they couldn’t think that He could feed them. They couldn’t believe that the same God who redeemed them from bondage could also feed them with food and give them victory in their battles.
Now, many times, we limit God to one thing: the God who can save our souls. But we never trust that the same God can heal our bodies. We all trust He can heal our bodies, but we don’t trust that He can make us prosperous. God can do far more for us than we are anticipating, and that’s why He tells them to open their mouths wide. «I’m bigger than the space you have opened. Increase your capacity and I will fill it.» That’s what we want to do in these 40 days of power. We want to increase our capacity; we want to increase our faith so that God will do marvelous things in our lives.
To do that, we must not underestimate what God can do for us. We have to see Him as He is. For one reason or another, people tend to think that they don’t have great destinies in life. They think their lives are going to be ordinary, and they settle for the ordinary. But God says no; I didn’t create you for the ordinary; I created you for the extraordinary. You have to open your mouth wide; you have to increase your expectation in life. God says, «I will fill it; I will not disappoint you.»
You know, sometimes people think if I dream big, what if it doesn’t happen? I’ll be disappointed. Well, if God is part of the plan, you will not be disappointed. That’s why when we dream big, we have to anticipate unusual miracles, signs, and wonders. God is still able to do abundantly, exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we can ask or think. He is a God of miracles; He is a God of wonders; He is a God of signs. Don’t exclude God’s supernatural power in your plans. He is able to do things that you wouldn’t consider possible; He will make them possible in your life. So open your mouth wide; you serve a supernatural God.
Number three, we have to always match our desires with God’s riches in glory. No, we don’t match our desires to the nation we live in, especially if you live in a nation like Ghana. You may look at the resources of the nation; you can look at the economic conditions of Ghana and think that because the country is not doing too well economically, you shouldn’t do too well economically. Our destinies are not tied to our nation; our destinies are tied to God, the Creator of the universe. He is the supplier of our needs; He is the one who controls our lives and our destinies. Open your mouth wide beyond your nation, and God says, «If you include me, I will fill it. I will not disappoint you.»
This week, we want to end with this level of faith, believing God supernaturally to come through for us. Let us pray. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, Your supply exceeds anything I have experienced.
