Mensa Otabil - It Is Settled
TOPICS: Word to Go

Psalm 119 verse 89: " Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.» God’s word is settled; it is fixed, it is permanent, it is unshakable, it cannot be removed, and it never loses its power. So when God says something, He first establishes it as a pillar in heaven, an unmovable one. But that word that has been settled in heaven must be settled on earth, and it has to also be settled in your life and in my life. Therefore, our faith must always be settled in the word of God. If we don’t settle our faith, then our lives will be moving to and fro.

One moment you believe something, and you’re very excited that it’s going to happen because you’ve read it in the Bible, and the next moment you’re so depressed because there is a delay, and you don’t know whether it will happen or not. We have to have settlement in our faith; our faith must be settled in the word of God. Jesus overcame Satan and temptation because of the settled word of God. When Satan threw doubts about who He was, saying, «If you are the Son of God,» He didn’t respond to doubt. He said, «It is written,» it is settled, and that which is settled must also become our foundation in life.

So, what God has settled about you in heaven must be settled here on earth. For a moment, there may be warfare in your life; you may be going through difficulty or some challenge, but that doesn’t change the word of God at all. What God has said is settled; the warfare is interim, the struggle is interim, the pain is interim, the confusion is interim. Don’t give in to it, and don’t pursue it, because God’s promise to you is settled. «Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.» Time does not diminish what God has settled; it is done, and it’s done concerning you.

There are a few things we have to settle in our minds when we want to walk by faith. First, we have to settle that God is the creator of heaven and earth; that has to be a settled concept, a settled idea. A settled word is settled faith. We must settle it philosophically, we must settle it theologically, we must settle it spiritually. We must know without any shadow of doubt that God is the creator, the owner, and the sustainer of the created universe. The universe did not come by itself; there is an owner, and He is God Almighty; that has to be settled.

Secondly, we must settle in our minds that God loves us. God’s love for us is so strong, so strong that He became a man to redeem us from harm. God loves you; He has a desire for good things for you. Thirdly, we must settle that God has a plan for our lives. We are not here on earth wasting time; we’re not here on earth just living our own lives. God has a plan for us; God has a purpose for us. That God’s purpose and plan for us is clear and definite. So, every time you wake up, you have to know, «God has a plan for me; God has a purpose for my life. I’m here by divine design.»

That has to be settled, so your life becomes purposeful, and your life becomes engaging. Number four: not only does God have a plan for you, but God is working out His plan for you. So, each day as you step out, not only does God have a plan for you, not only does He love you, but He is working out His purposes in your life, and He’s using all things to fulfill His purpose in your life.

Some of the things He’s using to work His purpose in your life may not be the sweetest, may not be the best, but they are all working out. It’s like a weaver weaving a fabric; He takes different colors and different strands and weaves them into a fabric. It’s like a quilt maker who takes pieces of fabric and joins them together. Your life is purposeful; God is working out His plan in your life, and that must be settled in your mind. «Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven, on earth, and in my life.»

Let’s pray. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, Your word is settled in heaven; I receive full manifestation of Your promises in my life in Jesus' name. Amen.»
