Jeremiah chapter 32, verse 17: «Ah, Lord God! Behold, You’ve made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.» God is a God of possibility; He specializes in turning hopeless situations around. So when you trust God, you must accept the mentality, the mindset, that He can turn things around. All things are possible to Him.
When you trust God, you change your perspective from limitation to abundance because God is able to make a way where there is no way, and He is able to open streams in the desert. Now, I want you to consider the stories of some biblical people, and they can be our story too. Consider Moses; he was 80 years old, past his time, retirement time. As a matter of fact, he had failed 40 years earlier and had been living with the notion of failure for an additional 40 years. At 80 years old, thinking he was past his time and a total failure, God comes and commissions him because God is a God of possibility. He can take total failures and turn them into success stories, and I don’t know about you, but God is able to turn your story around.
What about Job? He had everything, and everything was going well for him, and then he lost everything, going from extreme success to extreme poverty and failure. Everything left him, and people couldn’t imagine how a man could lose so much in his life. Yet God came back into Job’s life and turned it around, and what was considered an impossibility happened because he became twice as rich as he was before. So God tells us that it’s possible to regain what has been lost. We serve a God of possibility. You think it’s too late for you? He can still use you. You think everything has been lost? He can restore everything to you.
And what about Peter, the apostle of Jesus Christ? He was close to Jesus, and everything was going well for him. Jesus praised him, honored him, and commanded him when he said Jesus was the Son of God. Then one day, Peter blew it so badly that he denied Jesus at the time when Jesus needed people to stand by Him. Peter was so broken by what he did because he saw Jesus die on the cross, and he thought, «You know what? I’m a failure. I’ve denied the Lord. I’ve blown the opportunity this man helped me; look what I’ve done.» He went back to fishing, but Jesus came to him and said, «Peter, feed My sheep.» Jesus restored his mission back when He called him. He said, «You’re going to be a fisher of men.» Now He says, «Go, feed My sheep.»
What do these three tell us? That God is the God of possibility. You think it’s too late? He says you are on time. You think you’ve lost everything? He says, «I will restore.» You think you’ve disappointed yourself and life so much that there’s no second chance for you? He says, «I give your mission back to you.» That’s the God you serve, our Lord God. Nothing is too difficult for You.
Let us pray. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, nothing is too hard for You. I trust You to let all things work out for my good. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.» I’ll catch you again tomorrow. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
