Mensa Otabil - God's Riches In Glory
TOPICS: Word to Go

This week, we are looking at God’s provision for His children when times are tough. When we don’t know where to turn, the Lord is there, and He provides for us. We can be confident that He will not allow us to be put to shame. So we go to Philippians chapter 4, verse 19: «And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.» These are the prayers of the great Apostle Paul for the Christians in Philippi. He had said that the Philippian Christians were people who supported his ministry and took care of him. So he’s now pronouncing a blessing upon them. For everyone who supports the work of God in any church, and you are there, you’re praying for the church, you’re giving to the church; this prayer applies to you.

If you are concerned about the work of the Lord, He says, «God shall supply all your need.» A need is a necessity; it’s something that is essential, something that is required for you to get on with life or to get by. Of course, we all need things like air, food, and water, and you can’t live a quality life if you don’t have these things. We need some place to lay our head. It may not be the most luxurious place, but we need a place to retire to, take a nap, and wake up.

So there are things that are needs for us, and that’s what Paul is talking about. They are necessities, and God says you need them, and He will supply them for you. I don’t know what your needs are in this season, but God will supply all of your needs- not some, but all of your needs. In other words, we have needs that are very wide. We have spiritual needs, material needs, and intellectual needs. God says, «I will supply all your need.» If it’s a genuine need in your life, God will supply it. The Apostle tells us where God is going to supply from. If somebody comes to tell me, «Listen, I want to give you what you require,» I have to find out where it’s coming from. Is it coming from a storehouse that is dependable? If the storehouse is depleted, can the person give me my need? God says, «I will supply your need according to my riches in glory,» and that’s what Paul refers to.

God has riches, God has abundance in glory, and He will supply your need from that resource. In other words, there may be a scarcity on Earth. Your friends may not be there for you. Parents may not be there for you. A spouse may not be there for you. The government may not be there for you, but God is there for you, and He says, «I will supply your need according to my riches in glory.» So think of God’s resources. Think of something that you believe is so supreme that God cannot accomplish it, and there is nothing you can think of; He can supply all of your need. He can meet every need of yours. If you need healing, He will supply you with healing. If you need to pass that exam, He will provide that. If you need a child, He is able to supply that. If you need a spouse, He is able to supply that.

I don’t know what your need is, but the God we serve is able to meet all our needs. So, in these times as we try to figure out where the next meal is coming from and how we’re going to live our lives, just remember that God has storehouses that are not depleted. The banks in our countries may be depleted, but God’s storehouse is not depleted, and He will make a drawdown from that bank to you, from His riches in glory. May the Lord give you more than you can ever carry because of the riches of His inheritance, which is towards us in Christ Jesus. Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, Your riches are inexhaustible. I receive all my needs met according to Your riches in glory in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Amen.
