Mensa Otabil - Spiritual Escalation
TOPICS: Word to Go

Exodus 7:3-4: «And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt, but Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay my hand on Egypt and bring my armies and my people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.» These are heavy words coming from God.

Now, what the Lord is doing here is preparing Moses for what lies ahead of him. He tells Moses this battle is not going to be completed by just one action. There will be a consistent and persistent response from Pharaoh and actions from God, but every action of Pharaoh will be met by a higher and superior action from God.

On the physical plane, it would appear that the deliverance of Israel from Egypt was merely a contrast between one nation and another, but this had deeply spiritual connotations because of God’s plan for Israel and the coming of the Messiah for the redemption of mankind. This battle has to do with the destiny and salvation of the human race, and God has to deliver Israel so the Messiah will come from the land of Israel. Though Pharaoh was an earthly ruler, he was a devoted agent of spiritual forces manipulating him to frustrate the purposes of God. This is spiritual warfare; there is a spiritual dimension to what is going on.

So God says, «I will harden Pharaoh’s heart.» Why would God choose to harden Pharaoh’s heart? Because Pharaoh hardened his heart first, and God is responding. «If you’re going to harden your heart, I will let you go with your hardened heart. I will give you permission to be yourself.» Many times, God allows people to have their way, not because it pleases Him, but because they have chosen their path. That is what is happening here: «Pharaoh, you’re going to harden your heart, have your way,» that’s what God is saying.

Then the second thing is, when he hardens his heart, God says, «I will multiply my signs and my wonders; I will escalate my power.» This is going to lead to spiritual escalation. Pharaoh hardens his heart, and God will escalate a miracle. Pharaoh hardens his heart, and God goes higher. That’s how this battle will unfold. Many times, in life, we face challenges, and when they arise, we think that God just sits and does nothing.

When challenges come, God rises higher with activity to deliver you. When the situation escalates, God goes higher because He always responds to every satanic agenda with a superior miracle, a more powerful miracle, a magnificent miracle. That’s what God is saying to Moses: «Don’t worry, he will resist you, but I will multiply my signs and my miracles. He will come against you, but I will multiply my signs and my miracles.»

I want someone to know the enemy may come against you, but God will multiply His signs, wonders, and miracles. They may frustrate you, but God will rise above it. They may throw things against you, but God will rise above that because He always escalates His supernatural interventions in our lives when we are in His will. No matter the resistance of the enemy, the Lord will go higher and do greater things in your life. Let us pray.

Say with me: «Heavenly Father, you are the God of power and strength. Multiply your signs and wonders in my life. In Jesus' name, amen.» May the Lord multiply His signs and wonders in your life and escalate spiritual activities in your life, in Jesus' name. Well, I’ll catch you again tomorrow. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
