Mensa Otabil - God Affirms His Word (10/07/2025)
Still in Exodus chapter 6, verse 13: Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them a command for the children of Israel and for Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. God did not argue back at Moses. He didn’t even address Moses’s doubts, sense of inferiority, or lack of suitability. The Lord simply repeated the command He had given to Moses from Mount Horeb: «I chose you to go and get the people free.»
That is one thing you’ll observe throughout this encounter between God, Moses, and Israel: God stays on His assignment, He stays on His word, and He stays with His command. His command was firm and strong. He says to Moses, «Go and tell Pharaoh, 'Let My people go.'» Now, the first time Moses goes to see Pharaoh, he says to Pharaoh, «Sir, Mr. Pharaoh, God says, 'Let My people go to worship in the wilderness and come back.'» Now God speaks to Moses and says, «Go and tell Pharaoh, 'Let My people go.'» This is not a half measure; this is not a temporary deliverance; this is a permanent thing.
That’s something you notice about God: that many times, when we expect that God will lessen His demands on us-when He tells us to do something we find hard and difficult-we expect God to say, «Oh, I understand you; I will bring it to your level.» No, He raises it to His level because God is interested in us fulfilling His will rather than Him fulfilling our will.
So we submit to God’s wishes and His will; He doesn’t submit to our will and wishes. If God comes to our level, He’s no longer God. He wants us to operate at His level; He wants us to think like Him, speak like Him, and act like Him. He wants us to align our will with His will because the Christian life is a walk of submission, submitting our will to God’s will: «Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.» That’s what God wants to do. He doesn’t want my will or your will to be done on earth; He wants His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God is about implementing His will.
So when we cry and protest, thinking we don’t have it, God simply goes back to who He is: «Go tell Pharaoh, 'Let My people go.'» «Lord, I’m not capable.» «Go tell Pharaoh, 'Let My people go.'» «Lord, the people don’t want to be free.» «Go tell Pharaoh, 'Let My people go.'» «Lord, I don’t think I know how to speak.» «Go tell Pharaoh, 'Let My people go.'» God will bypass your arguments and state His will and His purposes.
If you’re going to walk with God, that’s something you have to learn about Him. He’s going to state His will for a very long time until we come into alignment with Him. Sometimes it takes days, sometimes weeks, and sometimes longer, but God will not change for you. You have to change for Him; He doesn’t change for us. So the Lord stays on course; He affirms His word; He repeats His instruction. Moses has to deal with it, whether he feels adequate or not, and you and I have to deal with God’s word, whether we feel adequate or not. But thank God, He helps our infirmities and weaknesses. He knows when we are down, and He lifts us gently to the level where we can operate with Him in faith, making His promises a reality in our lives.
Let’s pray. Say with me: «Heavenly Father, help me to align my will to Your will. Lift me up from where I am to where You are. In Jesus' name, Amen and Amen.» Well, tomorrow we start another study. I’ll catch you again. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Peace and life to you.
