As we make progress this year, God’s promises will guide us, will lead us, and enable us to enjoy His goodness. In Isaiah chapter 65, God has a tremendous promise for us. Isaiah 65, verses 21 and 22: «They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat.»
Have you ever experienced a situation where you worked hard for something, and instead of reaping the benefits of your labor, someone else snatched it away from you, causing you to lose the results of your hard work? But God promises that when we work hard, labor, and toil, He will help us or position us to reap the rewards of our efforts.
So this year, as we serve the Lord, bless Him, and live for Him, my prayer, according to the Word of God, is that you will eat the results of your labor and reap the rewards of your hard work-that your labor will not be in vain.Of course, there are periods of uncertainty in our lives when we work hard on projects and do not see immediate results. That is part of the process; you don’t work hard today and expect everything to turn out well for you tomorrow. There will always be a waiting period, a time when we do not see what we are expecting. But when the harvest time comes, when the reward season arrives, you must be one who enjoys your labor. In answer to our uncertainty, God gives us this promise.
This is a promise I want you to claim, live by, and anticipate. If in previous years your labor did not yield results, this year, in this year of increase, your labor will be rewarded. The reward will come to you; when you expend energy and work hard, God will reward the work of your hands. There are four things God says that I want to speak to you about. He says they shall build houses and inhabit them. So this year, you shall build. It may not be a house; it could be a business, a marriage, or a relationship with your children.
Whatever you are building-if you are a pastor, you’re building your church or congregation-you shall build. I pray that the anointing of the builder will rest upon you. Not only shall you build, but God says you shall inhabit. You build and you inhabit, meaning you will occupy and benefit from what you are building. If you’re building a marriage, you’ll benefit from the marriage. If you’re building a relationship, you’ll benefit from that relationship. If you’re building a prayer life, you’ll benefit spiritually. So you build and you inhabit. I speak that the anointing of the builder will rest upon you, and that the anointing of the inhabitant will also rest upon you.
Then He says you shall plant; you shall start a process. You will plant things and begin a journey. May God give you the grace to plant and to start. If there’s something you have procrastinated on this year, you will start it. Then He says you shall eat; in other words, you plant, and you will see the result. That is God’s promise to us this year-that as we progress through the year, we will experience God’s grace upon us to build, to inhabit, to plant, and to eat. If the enemy threatens you, declaring that you will not enjoy the fruits of your labor, I encourage you to go back to the scripture, claim it, and speak it out loud, for God watches over His Word to perform it in our lives.
This year, you will build, you will inhabit, you will plant, and you will eat in Jesus' name. Let us pray. Say with me: «Heavenly Father, Your Word is my rock. This year, I will build on Your Word and inhabit Your promises to me. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.» Well, I’ll catch you again tomorrow. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
