Welcome to day number 28 of our 40 days of power. We are making a lot of progress, and I trust that you are waiting on the Lord, trusting Him, believing in Him, and following our daily prayers. As you know, this week we are looking at claiming God’s promises-there are so many of them. Today, we look at the promise of healing.
Exodus chapter 15, verse 26: «If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.»
This is one of the promises that God made to Israel. He made a promise to them when they encountered the bitter waters of Mara, and God turned the water sweet. The people of Israel had been walking for many days- for three days- with no water. Then they came upon a pool of water, but unfortunately, the water was bitter; it was brackish and didn’t taste good. So, they cried, as they normally do, complaining to Moses, and then Moses prayed to God. God showed him a tree to put into the water, and He turned the water into sweet water or drinkable water.
God did that to show them that He can transform the negative situations of their lives into something sweet and positive. In that moment, God revealed Himself in a very unique way to Israel. He said, «I am the Lord who heals you.» Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals you. God heals us because He is a healer; out of His nature of healing, He heals us.
As Israel walked through the wilderness, God fulfilled His promise of healing. The Bible says that the soles of their feet were not swollen. It’s very interesting that for all the years they walked in the wilderness, God kept them. The only time something went wrong is when they murmured against God or did something very terribly wrong. But as long as they stayed in the promises of God and walked in the ways of the Lord, they enjoyed divine healing. Now, when we come to the New Testament, we discover that one of the marks of Jesus’s ministry was His healing ministry. Jesus healed many people from all walks of life; all kinds of diseases were healed.
So, in the Old Testament, God promises, «I am the Lord who heals you.» In the New Testament, Jesus demonstrated that God is a healer. When Jesus was suffering for our redemption, one of the things He did was to take on our sicknesses. He was beaten on the back; He was whipped, and the scripture tells us that by His stripes, we are healed. So, we see in the Old Testament, God promises, «I am the healer.» Jesus demonstrated that God is a healer, and then in His suffering and death, Jesus purchased our healing. That gives us every confidence that the God we serve is a healing God, and there is healing in Jesus Christ. It is one of the promises that God has given to us. He heals us because that is His nature.
Just as the Lord made the bitter waters of Mara sweet, He can turn our ailing bodies around and give us healing. If you are sick in any part of your body, you can trust God today to touch you and to heal you. Ask Him to heal you; He’s the healer. It is His nature. He has the power to do it, and it is His intention to heal you.
So today, we claim the promise of healing for our bodies. We claim the promise of healing for our loved ones. We claim the promise of healing for those in the hospitals. We claim the promise of healing for everyone needing a divine touch from God. Are you ready to receive God’s healing power?
If you’re ready to receive God’s healing power, let’s pray this prayer together. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, thank you for Your promise of healing. I receive total healing from the top of my head to the soles of my feet, in Jesus’s name. Amen.» If you believe God is your healer, He will show Himself strong as your healer, and I believe there will be many testimonies of divine healing because we serve a God who is able. Well, I’ll catch you again tomorrow. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom-peace and life to you.
