We end our conversation on peace with going out in peace, Isaiah 55:2: «For you shall go out with joy and be led out with peace. The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.» Though 2020 has been difficult, challenging, and tough, the Lord will end it for us with joy, and He will lead us forth in peace. We’ve experienced uncertainty and dislocation, but God will mend us, and that is what He promises us. I believe that God will lead you in peace, and He will bring you into joy. He says that the mountains will sing before you, and that’s a figure of speech; it doesn’t literally mean that mountains will sing.
But mountains here represent obstacles, things that stand in our way as hindrances, things that have loomed large before us. Mountains also represent things that intimidate us, and we have faced many of these in 2020—things that stand in our way and make it difficult for us to make progress, and they intimidate us. Every day, we hear things that really stretch our faith. This year, many of us have stared at mountains standing in our way. We’ve watched one problem after another building up and escalating until now they look like a huge mountain standing in your way. Isaiah’s prophecy says that the mountains and the hills will break forth into singing before us; the trees of the field will clap their hands. The mountains will break forth into singing.
In other words, that which has stood before you, formidable and intimidating, is going to break forth; it’s going to give way, and it will do so with joy and excitement for you. God is going to use the forces of nature that have come against us to work for our good; they will break forth into singing. Then He says that the trees shall clap their hands. That’s another figure of speech; it doesn’t mean the trees will literally clap their hands. It simply means that the things you have planted, the things you’ve invested in, shall applaud you. They will work; they will produce results. So if you’ve invested hard and worked diligently, planting good ideas and good seeds, the Word of God says the trees will clap their hands for you.
Get ready for God to cause your hard work, your sweat, your toil, your sleepless nights, your days of hard labor to come into fruition. The trees are going to clap their hands; you will be appreciated, applauded, and celebrated. The things you’ve worked for are going to turn out well. God is going to lead us forth in peace, and as we enter the last part of the year in this month of December, preparing to end the year, may the Lord lead us all forth in peace, in His joy, in His celebration, in His well-being, in His safety, and in His security. May God cause you to enjoy heaven on Earth. The Lord will cause the mountains to break forth into singing, and the trees will clap their hands for you.
Are you ready for that? Are you ready for God to turn 2020 into a celebration for you? I’m ready for it; I’m looking forward to it, and I believe God will do it for you too. Let’s trust Him to bring His peace as our leader to guide us through the end of the year and into the new year. Let’s share a word of prayer together. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, thank You for the assurance of Your Word. Lead me into Your peace. In Jesus' name, Amen and Amen.» It has been my joy to take this journey of peace with you. May the peace of God be your portion. Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
