Luke chapter 2, verse 6. And so it was that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. I just love the Scriptures, and I love God’s sense of timing and purpose. There is nothing more powerful in life than to be in the right place at the right time. Here we see that God orchestrated the location where Mary and Joseph had to be. Not only did He orchestrate their placement, but He also orchestrated the timing. So when they arrived in Bethlehem, it was time for the child to be born. If they had delayed just a few days, the child would not have been born in the prophetic place. God has a sense of timing and a sense of placement. He uses all kinds of events in this world, sometimes things that we don’t even know God is using for His purposes.
Just look at your life; take a good look and see all the places and timing that God has used to bring you to where you are. You will realize that if you had not been in a certain place at that time, you wouldn’t have the opportunities you have now. God knows how to place us in the right place at the right time.
I am sure that Mary and Joseph might have had anxious moments on the trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem. They were tired, a pregnant woman probably complaining; Joseph coaxing his wife as they worked their way through, just trying to make the journey. They had no idea that even the child had to be born in Bethlehem. They had no clue because they were not studying the Scriptures to know that is what the Scriptures say. They were just going along, and then they got to Bethlehem, and labor pains set in. God is faithful to His purposes, to His timing, and He knows how to get you where He wants you to be at the right time.
So I just want to encourage you: there is a timing of God on your life. There is something happening in your life you may not understand; you may be clueless, you may even think it’s a satanic attack. But just pause for a moment. It may look like a satanic attack, but could it just be God bringing you to a place where He wants you to be? Could He just be God holding your times and seasons in His hand? To everything there is a season; every purpose has a time. Is it God just working His time in your life?
And so today, I just want to encourage you on this Christmas Eve, as we await the birth of our Messiah, to understand all the things that brought them to this 24th Christmas Eve in Bethlehem. Just at that time, labor pains set in for the child to be born on Christmas Day. God has a plan for your life; He’s working in you. Don’t be discouraged, don’t be weary, don’t be anxious. Just trust Him, let Him lead you, let Him guide you, and let His timing coincide with His purposes so that the place you land will be at the right time. There is nothing more terrible than to be in the right place at the wrong time. May the Lord cause you to be in the right place at the right time, everything synchronized and working together for God’s purposes in your life.
