Mensa Otabil - Testify of the Lord's Good Works (09/29/2025)

Mensa Otabil - Testify of the Lord's Good Works
TOPICS: Word to Go

Welcome to day number 36 of our 40 days of power. Four more days to go; we thank God, we celebrate Him, and we give Him honor for what He has done for us so far. Today we are talking about testifying of the Lord’s good works, and the text is from John’s Gospel, chapter 4, verses 28 to 30. The woman left her water pot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, «Come, see a man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?» Then they went out of the city and came to Him.

In this season, I pray that God will give you a «come and see» testimony, a testimony that will rally people to come and see the magnificent work that God is doing in your life. The story of this woman, called the Samaritan woman, is a very remarkable one in the Gospels. It is special on many levels, especially in the sense that Jesus is talking to a woman, which is culturally a taboo. It is special because Jesus is revealing personal details about this woman’s life. Jesus is teaching her about the difference between drawing water from Jacob’s well, which is supposed to be something good in her religion, and drinking of the living water that Jesus gives. Then Jesus teaches her about the power of the Holy Spirit and worshiping God in the New Testament, which would not be done in Jerusalem or on one of the mountains of Samaria.

So, Jesus is having this encounter with a woman, but what really touches her is that Jesus knows everything about her. Her past — she has had five husbands and is living with a man who is not her husband — and yet Jesus doesn’t condemn her. In the midst of knowing her, He still shows mercy, and that is one thing about God’s love: God knows all about us, but He still loves us. This woman is so overwhelmed by the transformation she feels in the presence of Jesus that she goes out to the city and tells all the men and all the people, «Come and see a man who is like no other. Could this really be the Christ that we are looking for?» The people of the city come to see Jesus.

That is what I pray: that God will give you an experience, an encounter, a life-changing experience with Jesus that would draw people to Christ, not just to you but to Christ. You’re going to call your colleagues, your family, and your friends, and you’re going to say, «Come and see what the Lord has done for me. Look at what He’s done for me in my marriage. Look at what He’s done for me in my finances. Look at what He’s done for me in my career. And look at this child that God has blessed me with.» I pray that by the time we are through these 40 days and afterwards, God will give you a «come and see» testimony that will attract people to the Lord because of the favor that He has shown you. May your testimony draw people to Christ, may your testimony help people celebrate the goodness of the Lord, and may you have a testimony that will cause your whole family, your town, your village, your city, and your office to shout the praise of the Lord. May the Lord give you that testimony.

Are you ready to receive it? Why don’t we pray? Say with me, «Heavenly Father, thank You for all the mighty works You are doing in my life. Today, I testify that the Lord has done great things for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.» Your testimony will be heard; the praise of God will also be heard. I am Pastor Mensa. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
