Mensa Otabil - I Will Send You (09/29/2025)
Well, we are concluding our teaching on the call of Moses from Exodus chapter 3, and we read verse number 10: «Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.» After God tells Moses that He hears and sees the oppression of His people, He now announces the reason why all this drama has been taking place.
The reason why there is a fire there and the bush is not burning, that ground has become holy. The reason why He tells Moses to remove his sandals, and the reason why God introduces Himself to Moses is that He is about to send him; He is about to use him. So, He invites Moses and says, «Come now.» «Come now» means come and join me, Moses. He wants Moses to be His instrument. Though God has all power and can do all things, He chooses to work with us. Isn’t it amazing that the Almighty God, who created everything all by Himself, has chosen to use you and me?
To do that, He invites each one of us, like Moses: «Come now, come, let’s work together.» He sees, He hears, and then He calls, and He says to Moses, «I will send you.» He sees, He hears, but He sends us. He is not going to do it all by Himself; He is going to use us to do His work. He sees, He hears, but He sends us. God has a need of you. God wants to use you; God wants to send you. It may be something in your family; it may be something in your office. It may be something in someone’s life; it may be something in your nation. But God sees, and then He sends us. At this time, Moses has two problems. First, he is a refugee from Pharaoh, and God says, «I’m going to send you to Pharaoh.» He is hiding from Pharaoh, and God says, «I’m going to send you to confront the last person on earth you want to meet.»
You know God has a sense of humor; He sends us to the place we are running away from, to the people we are avoiding, to the place we are afraid of. He sends us there, and then He says, «I’m not only sending you to Pharaoh, whom you’re afraid of; I’m sending you to the children of Israel who rejected you.» The people who said, «You are nobody; who made you a judge over us?» The people who threw you out, the people that made you run in the last 40 years are the very people God is sending you to.
So, you think you have been rejected in life; you think you are afraid; you think there are places you cannot go. You may have so many fears because you failed there yesterday, and it didn’t work out. Guess what? God can pick you up and take you to the same place where you failed last time, and this time you are going to succeed. God can bring you to people you are afraid of, but this time He will put His word in your mouth because God has a way of choosing to use us in areas where we feel the least qualified. We might think, «Oh, this is our weakest point.» He says, «That’s how I’m going to use you,» just to show you that it’s not about you but about Him. It’s not of him that wills, but of God who shows mercy.
May the mercy of God find you. May the Lord use you in areas where you think you can never be useful. May the Lord use you in places where you failed before; and like Moses, may His call send you to fulfill His mandate. I trust that we learn from Moses how to turn aside, how to pay attention to things that are holy, how to stand on holy ground, how to connect to generational purposes, and how to be part of God’s mission on earth when He sends us. May the Lord send you and use you mightily for His glory. Let’s pray together. Say with me, «Heavenly Father, thank You for Your call on my life. I am ready; send me.» In Jesus' name, Amen. Amen.
Well, thank you for being on this journey with me. We’ll start another one tomorrow, and Pastor Mensa Otabil, Shalom. Peace and life to you.
