We end our study of hands today with the anointed hands. We’ve talked about so many types of hands, and yesterday we discussed the restored hands. Today, we talked about the anointed hands. May the Lord anoint your hands. Acts chapter 5, verse 12: «And through the hands of the apostles, many signs and wonders were done among the people, and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.»
The hands of the apostles do not necessarily mean their hands physically, but through the work that God did through them, many signs and wonders were accomplished. God is able to anoint our hands or the work we do to produce signs and wonders. As He anointed the hands of the apostles for signs and wonders, may He anoint you in your workplace, in your business, in your endeavors, and in your activities at work. May the Lord anoint you to produce signs and wonders. Perhaps you have just started a business and don’t know how it will turn out. May the Lord produce signs and wonders through you; may you become a miracle worker for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus instructed His disciples to lay hands on the sick, and He said they shall recover. The reason He told us to do that is that the hand of the believer becomes an extension of the hand of God. In other words, what God can do by His hand, He has given us the grace to also do by our hands. When the outstretched arm of the Lord is able to deliver, our hands can also bring deliverance to people. God has made our hands an extension of His healing grace and healing power so that mighty works can be done through us.
If God has anointed our hands for signs, wonders, and healing, then our hands must not produce pain and misery in people. I just want to encourage you: God wants to do great things with you. But don’t let any work you do bring sickness or pain to someone or cause destruction. Our hands are for healing and for signs and wonders, not for destruction, diminishing others, or pulling people down. They are for encouraging people, uplifting them, and helping them fulfill their purposes in this world. God wants to use our work and our hands to bring healing to a sick and dying world.
My prayer for each of you is that what God has committed to you, what He has trained you for, what He has put you to work to do, and what He has given you the heart to be diligent about—what the Lord has blessed in your hands, and what the Lord is restoring to you—will be health, a blessing, and joy to the world. May you be a conveyor of joy, healing, the power of God, and the grace of God. May every aspect of the work you do make the world a better place. That is what an anointed hand does; it extends the grace, glory, beauty, and power of Christ to the rest of the world. May God use you to make a difference in the lives of many people.
If you truly want your hands to be anointed, let us pray. Say with me: «Heavenly Father, I present my hands to You. Anoint them. Anoint the work of my hands. Anoint my job, my business, my career, and use them for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.» Your hands are blessed; your hands are anointed. And Pastor Mensa Otabil, shalom, peace, and life to you.
