Mensa Otabil - Wait With Expectation
TOPICS: Word to Go, Waiting on God, Expectations

Well, my friends, welcome to day number 20 of our 40 Days of Power. We are right in the middle of our journey, and if you’ve come this far by faith, you have to be excited that God has enabled you to come this far. We have 20 more days to go, and it’s going to be better in the days ahead.

Today we are looking at waiting with expectancy from the Lord. Habakkuk chapter 2 says, «For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak; it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it, because it will surely come; it will not tarry.» God had the prophet Habakkuk write down the vision He had given him; He wanted Habakkuk to record the message that had been revealed to him. The reason was that the vision God gave to Habakkuk was not going to happen immediately, and sometimes we forget what God said to us when time elapses.

So He says, «Habakkuk, write the vision,» because it is for an appointed time. What God spoke to Habakkuk is relevant to us today; we also must write the vision. During these 40 Days of Power, there are many things that God will be speaking to you about. Many ideas will drop into your heart, into your spirit. Many thoughts will flood your mind. Many times as you pray, you will hear a word from God, and as you read the Bible, you will hear a word from God; you will hear whisperings. Don’t just listen—write it down, because what God is telling you in these 40 days is for an appointed time. God’s promises always have time assigned to them, and time requires waiting. Waiting is not exciting because we want things right now. If God says it is going to happen, it has to happen right now.

There may be things that God is speaking to you today that may not even seem relevant, or they may seem too fantastical or impossible. But when you write it down, you’ll be amazed when you go to visit the written vision and see how far God has brought you. It’s always important for us to remind ourselves of what God spoke to us and how we need to respond during the time of waiting so that we don’t get tired. It says, «When it tarries, wait for it; be patient,» because the vision may be delayed but will not be denied. Time may lapse, but God never forgets. It may tarry, but it will not die; it will surely come to pass because God’s integrity is in His promises.

So I just want to encourage you today: take time and write down your thoughts. You may not even know whether it’s from God, yourself, or just your mind playing games. Just write it down, pray about it, and spend time thinking about it. A month from now, go back and read it. Three months from now, go back and read it. A year from now, go back and read it, and you’ll be surprised at how accurately God spoke about what will happen to you in the future. Write the vision and wait for it; it shall come to pass. Why don’t we share a word of prayer together as we trust the Lord for the future? Say with me: Heavenly Father, thank you for the vision You have for me. I set my heart in agreement with Your word, and I wait in expectation of its fulfillment. In Jesus' name, Amen. Well, if you really believe it, it’s going to happen. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom—peace and life to you.
