Mensa Otabil - Wait for Total Victory

Mensa Otabil - Wait for Total Victory
TOPICS: Word to Go, Victory

God is a God of victory; He gives us victory in our walk. Sometimes we experience a victory here and then a defeat there, and you wonder how to manage both victories and defeats. Well, there’s a passage in the book of Hebrews, chapter 10, verses 12 and 13, talking about Jesus. It says, «But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till his enemies are made his footstool.»

The passage speaks about Jesus Christ after His death and resurrection; He ascends to heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. The passage tells us He is sitting, waiting until His enemies are made His footstool. He had victory through His death and resurrection, but He is waiting for total victory. Sometimes life is like this; we have one victory, but we wait for God to perfect the victory. For Jesus Christ, there will come a time when Satan is finally thrown into the lake of fire, and that will be when total victory arrives. But at this time, He is waiting, and that’s something very encouraging for us.

The Scriptures tell us that we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Not only is He seated at the right hand of the Father, but for the believer, we are also seated in Him. That means we also wait until God makes our enemies our footstool. Sometimes waiting for that total victory takes time. God gives you victory here, then you go through some tough times, and then you get victory again because sometimes God solves a problem for you in your health, and then financial issues pop up. God helps you deal with something at your job, and then something arises in your family. You realize you have victory here, but then you face challenges there.

That’s what life is. However, there will come a time when God gives us total victory. He says the way to enjoy that victory is to learn to wait, trust Him, and keep your confidence in Him. Don’t give up; don’t have one victory and then encounter another defeat, saying, «Oh, I don’t know what God is doing in my life; I don’t think there’s hope for this situation.»

He’s giving you one victory; you fight in this battle. Wait on Him; He’s gathering all your enemies and will put them under your feet one day. For each of you who has a testimony as well as a challenge, you have a song of victory as well as a battle cry. One moment life is okay; the next, it doesn’t seem to be. Just sit, wait, and trust in the Lord. Hope in Him, and that’s what we’ve been saying throughout this week: that we wait on the Lord. We wait on Him; our hope is in Him. He renews our strength. He is our deliverer; He gives us total victory.

I pray that the Lord in whom you trust, the Lord your portion, will grant you total victory in whatever battle you are engaged in. What you have begun to see as victory will continue from victory unto victory. Just sit still, trust Him, be at peace, hope in the Lord, and He will subdue all your enemies under your feet. I am Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
