Mensa Otabil - The Word of the Lord is Settled (09/28/2025)
Well, we’ve looked at different aspects of the Word of God this week. The Word of God is what He uses to work. God works with His Word and with His Spirit. His Word is spirit and life. God is able to send His Word wherever He wants it, and His Word will bring healing. He guides us with His Word, and His Word is our sword. I conclude by talking about the fact that the Word of God is settled. It is settled. Psalm 119:89 states, «Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in heaven.»
God’s Word is settled; God’s Word is fixed. It is permanent, unmovable, unshakable, and dependable. It will never lose its power. What He said a thousand years ago is still strong today. When God gives us a Word, He settles it first in heaven, and then He works it out here on earth. That is why Jesus taught us to pray, «Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.» It is settled in heaven and then settled on earth.
So, whatever promise God gives us here on earth, He settled it first in heaven. He fixed it in heaven, and then He will fix it here on earth. What God has settled in your case is settled; it is settled in heaven. Whatever promise He gave you here on earth, He has settled it in heaven. For a moment, there may be warfare concerning the promises He gives to you. You take the sword of the Spirit and reinforce the Word of God and reinforce the authority of the Word of God because His Word is a weapon of warfare.
So, «Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in heaven.» We are not just seeking for God to settle the Word; He has already done it. I don’t know what promise you are holding onto. When He says, «I am the Lord that heals you,» it is already done. If He says that He wants to bless you, it is already done. If He says He wants to prosper you, it is already done. If He says that children are the heritage of the righteous, it’s already done. Whatever you need, it is settled in heaven. Now take hold of it here on earth; possess it here on earth, and remember that time does not diminish the power of God’s Word. What we call time is meaningless to God.
So for us, we say, «I had this; God told me about this five years ago, God told me about this ten years ago.» God has no limitation of time. There is no statute of limitations with the Word of God. What He promises a thousand years, He fulfills in time. Today, I want you to know that God has settled His Word in heaven concerning you, and you will fulfill His destiny here on earth. It is settled that He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. It is settled that He loves you, and the devil can do nothing about it. It is settled that He has a plan and a purpose for your life, and it is settled that He is making all things work together for your good because you are called according to His plan and purposes. Just hold on to the promise of God, settle it in your heart, and see His Word become flesh in your life. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
