Mensa Otabil - The Lord is Our Sun

Mensa Otabil - The Lord is Our Sun
TOPICS: Word to Go

The Lord is our shield, but He’s more than our shield; He’s also our Son. As the psalmist says in Psalm 84, verse 11, «For the Lord God is a Sun and a shield; the Lord will give grace and glory. No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.» The Lord is a Sun and shield. We have considered the fact that the Lord is our shield, and today we explore what it means when the Bible says the Lord is our Sun.

All of us love the sunshine, especially the early morning sun or the sun after a storm when the rain has fallen. For those of us in this part of the world, we have a lot of it. In other places, sunshine is life. People go to the beaches and bask in the sun. The Lord is our Sun—what does that mean? The Sun is the center of our solar system, which means that the Lord is the center of our lives. The Earth orbits around the Sun, so our lives orbit around the Lord. He is the center of our lives, and everything we do must revolve around Him.

The Sun allows us to see clearly; similarly, the Lord grants us clarity, helps us to see clearly, and opens our eyes. He’s our light, and in His light, we see light. The Sun supplies energy to the plants and to the Earth, and so the Lord is our source of strength and our source of energy. In Him, we have energy, in Him, we have strength, and in Him, we have power. The Lord is our Sun; He brightens our lives and causes our lives to blossom. When the Lord is your Sun, your life will be beautiful, warm, and blooming.

He gives us grace and glory, shows us favor, and makes our lives beautiful. The Scripture says no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Isn’t it amazing that when the Sun shines, it doesn’t discriminate? The Sun shines and blesses the Earth; in the same way, the Bible says that because the Lord is our Sun, there is nothing He will withhold from us. He will allow His rays of life to pour into our lives. So when you know Him as your Son, you understand that wherever you are, He will reach out to you and pour out grace, favor, and glory into your life.

He says the Lord will give us grace and glory like the beauty of a sunflower opening up to the Rising Sun. May your life open up to the radiance of God. May the Lord pour beauty into your life, cause you to blossom, help you see light, refresh you, and energize you. The Lord is our Sun, and no good thing will He withhold from you. There is nothing you need that He doesn’t have the power to provide. He will take care of you, provide for your needs, and cause you to be beautiful. It’s going to be good for you. Trust the Lord, your Sun. I am Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
