Mensa Otabil - The Lord is Our Song (09/28/2025)

Mensa Otabil - The Lord is Our Song
TOPICS: Word to Go

The Lord is our strength, the Lord is our shelter, and the Lord is our song (Exodus 15:2). Since the Lord is my strength and song, He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him—my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. In addition to the Lord being our strength, He is also our song. He is the one who puts rhythm into our lives, the one who places a melody in our hearts, and the one who gives us the right words to announce and declare. When the passage states that the Lord is our song, it means He fills our hearts and mouths with what to feel and what to say.

This passage is part of the song that Moses sang after Israel had come out of Egypt. You know that when they exited Egypt, Pharaoh’s army pursued them to the Red Sea. God opened the Red Sea and took Israel through it. Pharaoh’s army followed, and God delivered Israel. When they emerged, Moses led a song, declaring, «The Lord is my strength, the Lord is my song; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him—my father’s God, and I will exalt Him.»

When God gives you victory, He puts a song in your mouth and calls you to sing with joy and gratitude. So if you’re in a battle, feeling like Moses with Pharaoh’s army coming against you and the Red Sea in front of you, wondering how God will get you out of this space or win this battle, I have good news for you: The Lord is your song. One day, you will raise a song of victory like Moses and declare, «The Lord is God, and I will exalt Him—my father’s God.» For some of you, He may not be your father’s God, but He is God your Father, and you will exalt Him.

Then you will declare that our God has triumphed gloriously. When God gives you victory, He does it beautifully; the Bible calls it a glorious triumph. It is from that glorious triumph that your heart wells up with joy, and you begin to bubble over and sing. When there’s nobody around, you sing to yourself; you sing in the shower, you sing in your car, you sing in your sleep—because the Lord has given you victory. He fills your heart with joy. The Lord is our strength, and the Lord is our song.

When you enter any battle, may He be your song, may He give you a shout and a song so that you go into battle, not fearful and timid, but boldly with a song of the Lord. The Lord is your song, and He will give you victory in that battle. When He brings you through the battle and grants you victory, you will raise a shout and a song because the Lord is your song, and He gives you the victory.

May the Lord give you a song today. May He cause you to raise a shout and a song of victory because He is your song, your battle cry, and your victory. I am Pastor Mensa Otabil. Peace and life to you.
