God is the rewarder of the believer, and for everyone who sets their heart to serve God, He is your reward. In Hebrews chapter 11, verse 6, we read, «But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.»
Whenever we come to God in faith, we come loving Him, worshiping Him, doing His will, and obeying Him. There are two important things we must know. The first is that God is. We must know that He is; that is the foundation of our faith. That God is means He exists all by Himself. Secondly, it means that He is present in our situations. He is present in our endeavors. So, when we serve God, He is not absent from our hopes, aspirations, and desires. God is; He exists, and He is present. It is possible to exist and be absent, but God exists and is present wherever you are today. He is present, and you must know that He is present wherever you are.
Not only that, but the passage says that we must know that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. So, God is, and that is the basis of our faith. We love Him and obey Him because we are not doing it to an unknown entity; we are doing it to a present God. We must also know that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. That means seeking Him consistently and persistently. Many times, people seek God, but they do so on and off. One moment they really want to serve Him—probably they start going to church, reading their Bible, and praying—and then for a period they are off, and then they start all over again. That is not diligence. That is an on-and-off diligence. Persistence and consistency are key. God rewards those who diligently seek Him, not just those who seek Him, but those who do it consistently and persistently.
So, this has to be the foundation of our faith. Any time we take it upon ourselves to do something for God, we are not just doing it to the air; we are not throwing it out there. We are not doing something that has not been observed. God is there; He observes, sees, hears, understands, and rewards those who continually obey Him and do His will. So, if you want God to reward you, you have to be diligent, consistent, and persistent; you have to do it over and over again. The great people of faith, like Abraham, followed God for years and did so repeatedly. The Scripture says they didn’t stagger at the promise of God. In other words, they were not going one step in and one step out.
So today, commit to the God who is and who is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. May the Lord reward you abundantly and exceedingly. I am Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
