Mensa Otabil - Continue in God's Power
TOPICS: Word to Go, God's Power

Welcome to day number 11 of our 40 days of power, and I trust that the power of God is surrounding you and working in the strength of the Lord. Today, we are looking at continuing in God’s power—beginning in God’s power and finishing in His power. Ephesians chapter 6, verse 10: «Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.»

People are strong in different things in life. You find people who are strong in numbers; they can calculate figures effectively. Then there are those who are strong with words, using them to tell amazing stories. In every area of life, every achiever has something they excel in.

Take a game of football: the players have various strengths. Some are strong at heading the ball, while others excel in controlling the field or in set pieces. So, for us as Christians, when we talk about our strengths, where do we find our strength? The passage tells us to be strong in the Lord. While we may have natural strengths, our true strength is in the Lord. Our strength does not come from ourselves; it comes from the Lord.

When the passage states that our strength is in the Lord, it refers to who He is—the personhood of the Lord Jesus Christ, what He represents, what He accomplished, and what He has made available to us. We must know Him, learn from Him, and fully identify with Him. The more we know and learn from Him, the stronger we will become in our spiritual lives. When our strength is in the Lord, we depend on Him.

The passage also asserts that our strength is in the power of His might. This means our strength lies in what He is able to do. Whatever He can accomplish is our strength. So, if someone wants to know what my strength is, it is in the power of the Lord. If He is righteous, then I am righteous. If He is seated in heavenly places, I am seated in heavenly places. If He can do all things, I can do all things. My strength is in the power of the Lord, and so is yours.

Our strength is in the power of the Lord; we are plugged into His divine ability. If He can heal the sick, we can heal the sick. If He can feed 5,000 with five loaves of bread, then that is our strength. If He can walk over storms, we can walk over storms. That is why I believe that this storm that is attacking this world will not overwhelm you, because our strength is in the Lord and in the power of His might. That is where our secret lies.

As you go out today to face the world, yes, you may be very skilled in your job, your profession, and all the things you do—you may even be qualified for them. But why not let the strength of the Lord be your strength? Why not be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might? I commend to you the strength that never fails—the strength of the Lord and in the power of His might. Continue in that strength throughout this day.

Why don’t we share a word of prayer together? Sit with me: Heavenly Father, thank you for making Jesus Christ my strength. In Him, I am strong; in Him, I am able; in Him, I can do all things. I thank you, Father, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Well, my friends, that’s it. It’s time to go into the world and make a difference. I’m Pastor Mensa Otabil. Shalom, peace, and life to you.
