Welcome to day number 23 of our 40 days of power. Today, we are talking about claiming God’s promises. 2nd Corinthians chapter 1, verse 24: «All the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him, amen, to the glory of God through us.» The Bible is full of promises. Right from the book of Genesis, God made a promise to Eve that her seed, the seed of the woman, shall bruise the head of the serpent, and that promise was fulfilled in Christ Jesus.
When you look through the Bible, you see a book of promises made and promises fulfilled. God made promises to Noah, to Abraham, to Jacob, to Joseph, to the nation of Israel, to Moses, to David, and many more in the Bible, and all those promises He fulfilled, and some He is still fulfilling in these days we live in. Just as God made promises to those people in the Bible, He continues to make promises to us, and He is fulfilling His promises to us. The most trustworthy check you will ever receive in life is a promise from God. When God says He is going to do something, you can trust Him that He will do it.
Our passage states that all the promises of God in Christ are yes and amen. It is very important to note how the passage does not just say all the promises of God, but all the promises of God in Christ. The reason it specifies the promises of God in Christ is that in the New Testament, every promise God gives to us is through Christ Jesus. It is because of Christ that God makes those promises to us. What are the promises of God in Christ? They are promises that God has made to us in the scriptures, with Christ as the guarantor; Christ is the basis of the promises. For example, in Christ Jesus, there is a promise of salvation: that those who believe in Him will not perish but have everlasting life, and that promise is yes and amen.
There is another promise that if we are in Christ, we are a new creation; old things have passed away, and behold, all things have become new, and that promise is yes and amen. There is a promise of abundant life; Jesus says, «I have come that you may have life and have it in abundance,» and that promise is yes and amen. There is a promise from God for the resurrection, and that promise is yes and amen. Every promise of God that is based on Christ Jesus, you can guarantee it is yes and amen. It includes our salvation, God’s provision for us, our healing, and we can claim those promises for fulfillment, just like the promises He made to Abraham, to Moses, and to Israel. The promises He makes in Christ are yes and amen; they are guaranteed.
Today, I want you to take the promises of God in Christ Jesus. Go through the New Testament and find the things that Christ Jesus has promised us and claim them because they are yes and they are amen. Why don’t we pray together before you head out to face the world? Say with me, «Heavenly Father, I thank You for the promises You’ve given me in Christ Jesus. I receive each one of them now in Jesus' name. Amen.» If you truly believe that, then go out believing that God is honoring His promises in your life, and you will come back with your testimony. Peace and life to you.
