Leon Fontaine - The Truth About Faith

TOPICS: Faith

There's a saying that, this guy said that realistic people have an ability to adapt to the situations that they're in and so they just learned to put up with it. They just learned to handle it. But unrealistic people never put up with anything. Therefore, all change in life is up to unrealistic people. So when you decide to live by faith and begin to declare and believe God for things, you've always got the realistic people saying, "Be realistic. Come on now. You really think it's gonna happen". And they bring all this realism, which by the way, realism is simply your knowledge-based speaking. Okay?

I give you an example. If someone falls and just completely puts their shoulder out. It's right out of joint and it's hanging down here and this guy screaming in pain and someone says, "Somebody help that guy"! And everybody goes, "Oh, be realistic. How you gonna fix that"? If there's a chiropractor or doctor in there, they will it in one yank. It's just that you don't know how, therefore, realistic for you, "I ain't touching him". It's your knowledge-base that makes you decide where the line of realism is. We are people of faith. Therefore, this is the victory that overcomes the world even our faith. We believed for the impossible. We believed for the miraculous. We declare that God's gonna move in our families, our homes, our bodies, our finances. We declare that we're gonna use our lives and we give our purpose to do something great for God. We don't sit around say, "Be realistic. How can you change anything"?

The other day I was speaking at a World Conference. Sorry, I just forgot the name of the denomination. And every two years they bring all of their churches in. That will make a hundred thousand churches, pastors, and leaders. And they're just all over the world every two years they meet. And they asked me to come in and teach on Holy Spirit and Spirit Contemporary. And so as I was speaking there with one of the speakers and he's just kind of, we got talking about, "What do you gonna talk about"? I'm asked to speak on this specifically to help this denomination try to transition to the things of the spirit, to move with the spirit without being crazy, weird, or charismaniac. And so he goes, "Oh, good luck with that. I just come here and do my thing and leave. I've given up just trying to change anything".

That slapped me. I just thought, "Do we really have people like that? There is this now a professional speaker collecting a fee to do a message to encourage everybody to be realistic and stay where you are. That denomination didn't start with a bunch of realistic pastors. It started with at least one that say, "We're gonna make a difference. We're gonna touch the world. We're gonna go from country to country". And it did it because somebody believed for the miraculous to go out there and do great things. What do you believe? Where are you standing with? I wanna blast into some scriptures and some doctrines. I'm gonna speak fast and I wanna give you a biblical foundation to change the way you are on the inside. The way I am on the inside.

This verse in Ephesians 1:3. I believed they've got up on the screen, says this, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with a few spiritual blessing in the heavenly places everything else you should ask for". Let's read out again. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus but you gotta beg, plead, and ask for them. No. It says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with how many? Everyone. In the King James says all of them. Now, but pastor, God might delay the miracle that you need.

All right. Let's back up three words. It says who has blessed us. Is that past tense, present tense, or future tense teachers? That's past tense. So do you, does God decide the miracle? No. Does God decide when the miracle is? No. Does God decide who gets the miracle? No. Who's been blessed? All of us have been blessed. With what? Every spiritual. Oh, that's just spiritual pastor. What do you mean just spiritual? He's talking about the born-again experience that brought you to be sons with God and then grace is yours. I mean, it would be no problem to take this and unpack it and show you that every spiritual blessing, that healing is a spiritual blessing. That increase in your any area is a spiritual blessing because it's the promise from God the great Spirit to you and I that blast into your moral world and begins to bring miraculous to you.

I'm shocked when I go places today how many people, like you can't even teach them very deep because they have no foundation of the Word of God. And you start to teach, and this seems gonna go on until and I go, "Oh, I gotta explain that". That's why I love preaching here because of foundation of a couple of decades of teaching the Word of God and those who just kind of wanted that to them and there are others who wanna learn and grow and begin to move for God. They have materialist teaching and things that you can do. But here in 1 John 5:4-5, it says, "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world". How much? Whatever. Does it single out who can't? No. Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. What's the world? The evil kingdom. The demonic kingdom. What's in the world?

Well, in the garden there wasn't sickness. There wasn't poverty. There wasn't depression. There wasn't unhappiness. In the garden, there wasn't lack or murder of things. So, but once the enemy came and Eve and Adam sold out. Now, we got two kingdoms on this planet. The kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. But whatever is born of God overcomes anything in the dark kingdom. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. It doesn't say this is the victory that overcomes the world, our prayer. We'll talk about intercessory prayer soon. It's so messed up and it's so full of unbelief for so many people who think they have to go through prayer and do what Jesus already finished on the cross. That it's just an exercise and doubt and unbelief in many peoples' lives. Intercessor prayer works but you better understand what it means in the Bible.

So it's teaching us that if you wanna know as a man, as a woman, as a grandpa, a grandma, a mom, or a dad. How do you get along in this world? How do you change things? It's gonna be by faith. Now, this faith is not an earthly faith, that simple, you know. You know, I saw a t-shirt one time, "Everyone's gotta believe in something. I believe I will have another beer". That's the depth of some people's believing. This faith is a measure that Romans 12, it says it's been given to you. And that this measure will do anything you need done in the world. Nobody who is born-again has too little faith to get things done as a born again believer. And so what the enemy has been able to do and what people in their teaching have done is created a whole bunch of hoops to jump through to get through a miracle. I call it PRFT. P-R-F-T. You gotta pray more. You gotta read more. You gotta fast more. You gotta get more teaching. And if you're not getting a miracle, it's one of those ones that you're short on.

Well, it doesn't say that PRFT is where you get your miracle. It says simple faith in Jesus Christ. This is the victory that overcomes the world even our faith. So then if faith is what we need to overcome anything in the world, we better take a look at what faith is. Is faith believing that God can do something? No. Satan doesn't have the God kind of faith. But he believes that God heals. Then what is faith? Faith is a very individual thing that knows this miracle will be yours. It's not I believe God can do this miracle. It's I believed it's my mine and its done. It's not even I have to go to God to see if He'll do it now. It's been done.

Everything in the New Testament is past tense. Nothing in the New Testament shows that we need to pray for the promises of God. There's nothing in there that says that. There's one verse that says, well, you have not because you ask not. But get in to the context. It's not telling for begging God for something. When you understand that what you're believing for is already yours. You're not needing permission. You're not needing to see if He'll do it for you, but you gotta understand you simply need to appropriate it. You simply need to reach out and own what is and take what is already yours. You need to appropriate, and this is by faith. Which is faith and works come together and they form as incredible miracle.

Now, there's a story in Mark 5:25, read it with me. It is a phenomenal teaching that God wanted in the Bible to show us how healing power works for example. "Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years and had suffered many things from many physicians". You know, it doesn't matter how wonderful our physicians are in every year of our lives. These physicians back then were wonderful people working in the knowledge-based that they had. But so much has suffered as medicine changes. Even in the last five years how much medicine has changed and treating different situations. These beautiful doctors and surgeons, we love them. We go to them for sure when we need them. But to think that just the doctors are gonna look after us.

There's gonna need to be of faith to believe God for the miraculous. It says here that she had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, "If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well". Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him. I want you to notice the word power is not the word Holy Spirit. That power had gone out of Him turned to the crowd and said, "Who touched My clothes"? But His disciples said to Him, "You see the multitude thronging You. Look up the word thronging".

To be throng, you have to be in the crowd. To be throng, they got to be touching, pushing, you can't be thronged standing on a platform. That means everybody was touching Him. Everybody was touching Him. And He looked around to see who had done this thing. He didn't look around to see who He had healed. He didn't look around to see who has great anointing had overcome their doubt. He looked around to see who had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. And He said to her, "Daughter, the anointing upon me has broke into yoke in your life". He said, "your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction".

Much of the Pentecostal world has believed that if you have strong enough anointing on the speaker, that the speaker can override any problem you've got with that service into an anointing, get everybody up praising God, jumping, laughing, move that emotion to a level. And you know what, it actually doesn't increase the anointing and more people can get heal that they began to worship because their faith is touched in the worship time. So you say, "Well, Leon, if you had a greater anointing, you could lay hands and heal me". Really? Then how come Jesus couldn't? Because in His hometown of Nazareth, it says He couldn't do any miracles and He marveled at what they believed. It wasn't in Him. Therefore, Jesus couldn't override people's beliefs and teachings. If Jesus couldn't override with this and He had the anointing without measure.

Then there's a beautiful thing that's, don't get upset about this. Then what it means is you're believing accesses the power of God. Listen to me closely, the power of God that flowed from Jesus into her is a passive thing. It is not a radiating power that just forces everything. Jesus the Son of God. Holy Spirit upon Him. Okay? He is walking and through a crowd and everybody's touching Him and nothing is happening. No one is accessing the power of God, until a woman walks up there within or crawls to the hem of His garment with an issue with blood saying with her mouth, "If I can but touch His hem, I will be made whole".

And this passive power that is sitting there. There's enough power sitting in the lines in this wall to kill everybody here. It's passive. We have to plug our speakers into it. We gotta plug our things into it. But when you plug in and you know how to activate the power of this and the electricity of these walls. We can drive every light. We can drive all that is going on in here. But that power is a passive power and it must be accessed. God's power is within us as believers. And it's not up to me to anoint you to the degree that you get a miracle. This miracle is simply you coming to an understanding of what is yours, what belongs to you and the fact that He'll touch you, that it's done, that it's paid for.

Over the years of training and working with people. How do I say this because this is going around the world? We have always thought that great evangelist, great pastors have great healing ministries and if you can get to one of them standing in the healing line, you're gonna get healed. And so we have people flying all over the world to get in the healing line with the famous evangelist to get a miracle. How many of us are still going? So Jesus couldn't push His power on to anybody He wants because He wanted to. Then there's gotta be a different trigger that accesses the power of God. And it's not finding someone with enough anointing to override your misbeliefs. It is simply you easily and quickly coming to an understanding of how faith and his power works.

Over the years, I have found that in the teaching of God's Word and answering questions and helping people understand to the most incredible miracles takes place. When I tell sure the miracles of Springs Church anywhere I go as I'm training pastors their mouth hangs open as they hear about the miracle after miracle after miracle. How many remember Jack Whites the precious 83-year-old man that came here every year that Springs Church was running. Right from 1994 when I started pastoring it and on, and he continue to encourage us behind the scenes, sometimes he'd be preaching from a pulpit. And he just continually said, he was in 4.000 churches around the world assisting the pastors in multiple countries. And he would continue to tell our staff, I have never seen a church like this. That is so relevant and not wild or weird and there's so many miracles all the time every service that I don't see that in any other services.

Now, I'm not saying that it's not happening out there. He wasn't in all the churches, okay? But I'm saying we to recognize the teaching of the Word of God helps you to believe and understand, and that's what I wanna just finish off with today. Because in Isaiah chapter 53, let's speak on healing for just a minute. It says, "Surely He has borne our griefs". Now, in the original Hebrew the word there, that word "griefs" mean sicknesses and diseases. And I'll show it to you again in a minute. "And he has carried our sorrows". And another meaning of that word "sorrows" is pains. Okay? Jesus took our sickness and our pains. And we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God. Smitten by God? God's hurting Jesus? Yes, on our behalf. He allowed Him to become sin, to take the sin, to take the curse of the Law. A part of the curse is sickness, disease, mental illness.

A part of the curse is poverty. A part of the curse is young death, early death. A part of the curse is not even fulfilling with God's called you to do. There's like about 53 verses of curses in Deuteronomy 28. And so it says, "He was smitten by God, and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed". You do not have to earn your peace. You do not have to level your life out to get the peace. The peace that the world has is one you get by solving problems. The peace that Christian has is in the middle of the storm laying on the boat sleeping.

In the middle of whatever problem is coming your way. In the middle of whatever thing is coming after you. There's a peace that passes understanding. And that peace is not a normal peace. That peace is a peace that comes out of your very spirit man and it's yours. It's one of the things that is your rights and privileges. 1 Peter 2:24, "Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness by whose stripes you were healed". Matthew 8:16, "When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and He healed all those who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'He Himself took our infirmities and He bore our sicknesses.'"

This is a direct quote from Isaiah 53 and Jesus is inserting the word sicknesses now, instead of griefs and sorrows because it means the same thing from that Old Testament to the New. Everything we see that you need in this life that is a miracle, it always says it has been done. It has been paid for. You have been qualified. It's always past tense. There is no miracle that you will need to live on this planet that God has to go, "Oh, I never thought about that one". He has provided for you an incredible array of promises that will meet every need that you ever have. And then when you give your life to Jesus Christ and He came to live within your spirit man, the future of every miracle you would need for every attack of the enemy or indiscretion that you did or mistakes you may be driving or touching chemicals or whatever. It doesn't matter what the reason is. Everything you would need in your future. Everything that rises up that scares you and goes, "This gonna shorten my life. It's bringing pain into my life". He has already provided it and it is yours.

And when you begin to ask God, seek God, pray for, try to, you know, you are in unbelief. Because you don't need to believe that He will. You need to believe that He did. You don't believe and hope He will. You believe He did. It is in the believing that it is done. It is in the believing that what happened on the cross finished it. That gives you the right to stand up and as an heir of this begin to declare and speak to mountains. I don't pray over sickness and disease in our home. I don't pray over our finances. I don't pray over mental health or peace or joy. I'm always and declaring it because I'm not coming from a position of have not and I need. I'm coming from a position I own and I take.

Now, you can say, "Well, Leon you can't boss around God". Who's bossing around God? God's in shocked that He settled it 2.000 years ago and we're still arguing about it. He's in shocked that He had His own Son died for you to walk in health and blessing and prosperity, to die for you so that you could walk in way that was filled with peace and filled with joy and the nine strengths of Holy Spirit brings and it's all been given and paid for. And that we're still sitting around begging and pleading with God like Old Testament prayers. When He's saying rise up and be 'cause you is. Bad English, good point. My time is up. In Colossians 1:13-14, it says, "Jesus, He has delivered us from the power of darkness, conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son". In the King James it says translated us. "In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins".

When you gave your life to Jesus Christ, you are translated. You are moved from the kingdom of darkness and overall of its powers and rights and privileges to mess with you. You are removed from that kingdom and you walk on this world in the kingdom of light. So what is it that we've been given? That is, we have been given all things, everything that pertain to spiritual blessing. You have been given the born-again experience that ignites your spirit and puts life on the inside of you. You have been given authority over the enemy. And anything he tries to do to attack your family, your home, your kids, your health, your mind, you, your peace, your joy. It's not a matter of begging God or even talking to God about it. Other than learning it, it's up to you to rise up and declare. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. Speak to the mountain, command it to go! Which means the situation in your life. And this faith and this action come together, and you access this passive power that is already been provided for you.
