Kenneth Copeland - The Greatness of Jesus' Name
The greatness of Jesus' name. We'll first look in the Book of Hebrews chapter 1. Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Lord Jesus. The Book of Hebrews is a magnificent book. Well, they all are. Hallelujah. God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds, who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high, being made so much better than the angels as He hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said He at any time, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again I will be to Him a Father and He shall be to me a Son". And again, when He bringeth in the first begotten, the first born, into the world He said, "And let all the angels of God worship Him".
Now always remember, make a point of remembering, in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Jesus was the only begotten son of God, but now He's the firstborn from the dead. He's the first born. We have been born again. Glory to God. We are joint heirs with Him. And those of you that have studied, know and understand that in the Jewish way of life the first born was set apart. The firstborn of animals were set apart. Well, the firstborn had status. Well so do we, because we're joint heirs with the firstborn. Now, I don't know what my number is, but it's in there somewhere. So is yours. Amen. And back there then it was special if it was a firstborn man. Not so in the Spirit. We all are sons of God. Amen. In the Spirit, in the Spirit there's neither male nor female. So why then are we sons? Well, because we're talking about mankind. Can you see that? It's not womankind. People get so bent out of shape and wired up over things like that. That's just a waste of time.
So the name, He inherited His name from God. He inherited His name from God. The power in His name can only be measured by the power of God. When you speak the name Rockefeller, you immediately think of mass wealth. When you speak the name Bill Gates, you immediately think wealth. That's what that name stands for. Publicly, I mean that's just everybody thinks about that. So does everyone have a choke point? Where's your choke point? I had this happen. The Lord spoke to me very sternly about this, and He said, "You continue to see yourself as the woman with the issue of blood," and He's right. You continue to see yourself like that. You continue see yourself touching the hem of that garment. I said, "I sure do". He said, "Now I want you to lift your eyes above that". I said, "To what"? He said, "Why don't you be the one with the garment"? I choked.
Now don't anybody come up tugging at my coattail. I'm not going there. But you can see my point, I choked. I said this, the only way you can measure the power in the name of Jesus is to be able to measure the power of God. Because it was His name that Jesus inherited. Hallelujah. Glory to God. So right off the bat, we're in a place that it's very hard to describe Mark, because we're off out in that place where... Wow. You could measure the name of somebody by what he owns. And the Almighty God from whom Jesus inherited His name created the universe. Oh glory to God. The name. The name. Why do we need this? We need to have more than just the idea in the name of Jesus. I plead the blood. Well, what does that mean? And people do it all the time and do not know why they said that. What does that mean? Holy Bible.
I used to have a copy of The Shooter's Bible. I haven't had one in a long time, I'm not that interested anymore. But this is the Holy Bible and it is record of two blood covenants. The first one in two parts, first in the blood of animals. Kill the animal, not the man. Then the blood of a man, Abram, who became Abraham and the covenant name change was involved there, very important. The H in the middle of Abram is Hashem indicating that God, Hashem, and Abram have become one in covenant. And then this one in the blood of Jesus. So what have you said when you say I plead the blood? Well, you have thrown both blood covenants right in Satan's face. And he knows it. And when you plead the blood of Jesus in the name of Jesus... But without faith in it, it's just a lot of noise. Amen.
Turn with me over to 1 John the third chapter verse 23. Now, if you ask Christians as a Christian, what is our commandment? Well, it's to love one another. Well that's true, but that's not all of it. This is His commandment that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another. Believe on that name first, and love one another. Now turn with me please to the Book of Proverbs the 18th chapter and the 10th verse. The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and is safe. The righteous run into it and is safe. My cross reference says is set aloft. A high tower and the righteous run into it, a high place in the secret place of the Most High God. In that secret place. In the name. We talk about a lot in the name. No, no. In the name. In it. Now let's go over to the Book of John. Oh, if only most people knew that from the 12th on, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th chapters of John are all in that covenant meal that changed heaven and earth. The middle of the night and Jesus is with His own. He knows, they don't. He's going to the cross. He already knew who would betray Him. He's right there.
So look in this 17th chapter. Praise you, Lord. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Praise you, Lord. Let's read down from the ninth verse. I pray for them. I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me for they are thine, and all mine are thine and thine are mine and I'm glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world. I come to thee, Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in that high tower. I kept them inside that name. I kept them there. They were in a lofty place. Don't you remember? Don't you remember the 70 that were chosen? In that great Jordan Valley campaign. They came back and said, "Lord, even the devils are subject to us in your name". And that was before the name was glorified. Even the demons, even the devils are subject to us in the name. Hallelujah. Praise God.
Well how much more now? So He inherited this name. I want to just read through, let's go to the 14th chapter of John and we'll just read through some of these scriptures and just let them just soak into us. Fourteenth chapter of John, and here we are in that supper. The first verse, let not your heart be troubled. Now wait a minute. He didn't say don't be troubled. He said, you don't let it. You don't let your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. Now put yourself in that place, it's dark, candlelight, they know something is big here but they haven't quite caught on yet, they will. In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so I would've told you. I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am there you may be also. And whither I go you know and the way you know.
Thomas sayeth to Him, "Lord, we know not whither thou goest and how can we know the way"? Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. If you had known me, you should have known my Father also, from henceforth you know Him and have seen Him". Philip sayeth, "Lord, show us the Father and it sufficeth us". Jesus said to Him, "Have I been so long time with you and hast you not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father and how sayest thou then show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself but the Father that dwells within me, he does the works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me, for else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me the works that I do, shall he do also, and greater works than these shall you do because I go to my Father. And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son".
Now you look that up, in that case, ask in the Greek text can be used either way, ask or demand. Whatever you demand in my name, whatever you demand in my name, I will do it. We're not demanding Him, but we demand the devil to bow his knee. Glory to God. Whatever you demand. Now flip over to the 16th chapter and the 23rd verse. And in that day, what day? The day we're in now. The day after the cross. The day after the resurrection. The day that He sat down and then His name, His name is now in the earth given unto men or people. Whatsoever you will ask the Father in my name, He will give it you. We could rest our case right there, but we're not going to.
Now but so far what has happened here? We've come to a place where we realize that that name puts us in a high and lofty place. Amen. Have we not been raised up with Him, seated with Him in heavenly places in Christ Jesus? Yes we have. That name put us there. Hallelujah. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Now go to the Book of Ephesians. I love the Word of God. The first chapter of the Book of Ephesians. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus, grace be to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has already blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. It's already been done. Now when you get down to the bottom line of the name covenant, you come back to one word, blessing.
