Kenneth Copeland - Praying in the Spirit Brings Power From the Inside Out
Open your Bibles with me tonight to Acts chapter one. We will be looking at several verses of scripture here at the beginning. Acts chapter one, verse eight. Jesus is speaking, "But you shall receive power". The Greek word Dunamis, you shall receive power. This is the same word later on in the book of Acts, the 10th chapter, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and Dunamis. Power. Went about doing good healing all that were oppressed of the devil.
"You shall receive power. After that the Holy ghost is come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth". Now then two things to develop this, to develop of God inside consciousness. Let's look at John, the 16th chapter. This hit me. Oh, I'd read it over and over again over the years. But then I really read it one day and I kept going back over it and over it and over it, and it kept saying the same thing to me. Beginning with the 13th verse.
Now, all of this started when he told them, "It's expedient for you that I go away. For if I go away, the father is going to send the Spirit". And he's still teaching on that and he's still describing it and he's still telling them who this is, that we'll be living on the inside of him. And he said in the 13th verse, "When he, the spirit of truth is come". Well, he has come. He has come. He's living in you. He's living in me right now.
I want you to see what is on the inside of you. He will guide you into all truth for he shall not speak of Himself, but whatsoever, he shall hear that he shall speak. He is speaking, he's speaking day in, day out. He's speaking. Jesus is responsible for you. He is responsible for me. He's speaking every moment of every day about every thought about every word, about everything that's going on around you, about the smallest things, the biggest thing. He's talking, he's speaking all the time. What are we listening to? Fox News? Not anything particularly wrong with listening Fox News, but if that's all you're listening to, you in a heap of trouble. You just don't have any answers.
Every question that you asked yesterday, he was already telling you the answer. Everything that crossed your mind. I wonder about that. The slightest little thing there. He knows the answer. You know I wonder what sister so-and-so thought about that. He knows exactly what she thought about it. And if it's any of your business, he'll tell you. If not, he won't. So don't bug him about it. I want us to ratchet up and see what is really, really in there. What and with whom we're dealing here. Whatsoever, he shall hear that shall he speak. He will show you things to come. He will glorify me.
Oh, look at it. Oh, look at it. Look at it. Look at it. Look at it. Open your heart, open your mind. For he shall receive of mine and shall or will show it unto you. All things that the Father has are mine. Everything that God has belongs to Jesus. All of it. 100% of it. Everything the Father had, everything the Father knows, everything the Father wills, everything the Father does. It all belongs to Jesus. Therefore I said he shall take of mine and he will show it to you.
Now, Jim Hilton, what does that mean to you and me? That means we can find out the answer to anything if we just stay hooked long enough, particularly if you'll use that supernatural language. You can inquire of things with God on a basis that you can't even get there in your natural mind, but you can in the spirit. There's things that you need to be asking. You don't even know how to ask them. Turn it over to him. Let him ask it. In your prayer time, become an instrument in the hands of the Spirit of God. God created the heavens and the earth and then he gave it all to men.
That's the reason Jesus said in the 18th chapter of Matthew, he said, "Whatever you bind on earth is bound in Heaven". Heaven can't bind until earth does. Whatever you loose on earth is loosed in Heaven. God can't loose until earth does. It was a hundred percent communion between God and man, but then man broke it off. There are things that God would do in this earth in a heartbeat if somebody were to ask him for it. Not knowing how to ask it, not even knowing what the question is, much less the answer. But you can yield yourself and say:
Father, if there are things in your plans that need to be asked today by someone on earth in order for you to move and carry out your will, I'm your man. I'm your man. Put it in my heart and my mouth. I'll speak it. If you want me to speak it in the natural, I will. If it's none of my business, but you want it asked, just give it to me in the spirit. And so as I pray today, I receive utterance by the spirit of God and I take my place as an intercessor and a supplicator to be used by your power, Your Spirit. I get in on all the overflow of that. Because what's happening while I'm praying, I'm edifying myself. I get it on the edifying. I get in on the building up on my most Holy faith.
Why is it your most Holy faith? Because, Jesse, you don't know enough about it to foul it up. I like that. Well I won't go into my track record, you know, but I have fouled things up. Have not because you ask not and hasn't received not because you ask amiss. Well, I'm tired of asking amiss. Amen. Get over there in that area where I don't mess it up. Get base it on the Word. Get the scripture for you. Pray also that you interpret then believe you received the interpretation. It could come just right out in English. It can come as a conviction. It can come as a knowing. It can come later and you didn't realize it was the interpretation of it, but that's what you prayed out in the spirit all that time.
I remember. Nancy, I was in your church and we were dedicating that new building. And I wasn't there to do the dedication though. I was just there to enjoy the service. And I remember Ed turned around, he said, "Brother Copeland, you got something you want to add here"? I said, "Well, no. Yeah, but here's this". Because I didn't have a thing and my mind was just about a zero. But the moment when I said no then it just started coming out. That's the first time that I said, "You know, Jesus' last name is not Christ". I hadn't even thought about that. It just came out my mouth. And I began to talk about it and talk about the anointed one and his anointing and translating and interpreting and so forth and so on.
That was the first message I preached on it and I didn't know, I knew it. Now, later on I'm praising God. And I saw right then I'm going to have started preaching this. This is something that God had planned for me to spend some time on. He said, "Kenneth, you've been praying about that in the Spirit for months, but you said back there when you were praying for that". It's just a matter of course because that's what I pray. And I said, "I pray also that I interpret". He said, "Now what you said tonight, it finally came out". That was the interpretation of it and he said, "Now go on with it. Go on and study it". And he said, "It's working in you now. Now develop it".
That message was prayed out in the Spirit before I knew anything about it. And I've learned over the years and a number of things have come like that. But if you don't ever spend any time praying in the Spirit or if you let the devil talk you out of it for one reason or other. Religious reason or whatever it is. But then that supernatural part of it, you're not going to be walking it. Well, if you're not walking in that, you're not walking in the edification either.
Now you remember Isaiah prophesying said with a stammering lip in another tongue while I speak to these people, "This is the rest and the refreshing". I heard Kenneth Hagin say this. If I had had known it a long time before, it would have saved me a lot of problems. He said, "The reason I was able to just preach night and day and just go and go and go and go". He said, "I believe I received the refreshing and the rest of my spirit". And he said, "Once my spirit was rested, then my body would begin to rest". And he said, "I refreshed myself like that". He said, "I didn't want to go that hard, but back in those days I had to". But he said, "That's the way I did it was praying in the Spirit more than a prayed in English, but I had to believe for it. See if you don't know it, you can't believe for it".
Whoa. But when I heard him say that, man, I grabbed a hold of that like a dog hitting the bone brother. That's my rest. Mark, that's my rest, man. I'm refreshing myself and building myself up praying on my most Holy faith in the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah. There's a lot of things in which I would lead and guide you if I had the privilege of your faith working in those areas.
Now, there are areas that you don't even know how or why or when and the ins and outs of the problems and the answers. But if you would trust me by praying in your supernatural language and by praising and worshiping in your supernatural language. If you would trust me with it, then I will begin to reveal to your mind because you see, if you pray that you interpret, then your mind becomes fruitful. But as long as you're just praying in the spirit and not exercising and joining the mind with that, then your mind, as I said in my words, sayeth the Lord, is not fruitful. But it should be. And I will bless it and I will illuminate your mind as you pray in the spirit and refresh your spirit and strengthen and rest your spirit, it will also rest and strengthen your mind. I'll see to it sayeth the Lord if you'll trust me. That's what I said in tongues. Praise God. Praise God.
Shall we just begin to worship right now? Just begin the words. Just lift your voice, lift your voice, lift your voice. It's always appropriate. It's always allowed in the heavenlies. Therefore, it's appropriate in the earth for you to worship in that language and as you praise and worship me in that language, it will begin to broaden and it'll broaden you spiritually. It'll broaden your mind. It will cause you to think better than you used to think, and it will cause you to have an activity in the spirit that you can no longer ignore. The things begin to take place on the inside of you that's working for you and will help you in times of trouble.
And these days are wonderful sayeth the Lord, so begin to take full advantage of them and you'll know things and understand things that you didn't know, you know. Your spirit knows more than you know. I said you know more than you know. Because you're a spirit man, you're a spirit being has understanding that your mind hadn't caught up with yet. He's in there. What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. Let's stand and give him praise. Glory to God. Glory, glory, glory, glory, glory. The evidence that he is in you is not how you feel or don't feel.
Deuteronomy 31:6-8, John 14:16, Hebrews 13:5. "He will never leave you or forsake you or fail you". Glory to God, because "greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world". And he's there forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. And whatever problem you run in tomorrow, he's already got it fixed. Whatever problem you run into next week, he's already had it fixed, Whatever trouble your family gets into, he's already got it fixed.
Pray in the Spirit until you get the answers. Oh hallelujah. Hallelujah. I don't care what, Gloria and I could come to my mother in misery and say, "Well, you know, what do you think we ought to do about this"? Ninety nine times out of a hundred she'd say, "Hit it in tongues. Hit it in tongues. Hit it in tongues. Amen". That was her answer. Amen. You just pray in the spirit til you find out what to do and then do it. Praise God. Thank you, Lord Jesus. I said, thank you, Lord Jesus. Your healing is already in here. It doesn't have to come from heaven. The healer lives inside you now. All that it takes to deliver your body, to deliver your mind from any kind of trouble, I don't care what it is, all that it takes to do it is on the inside of you right this second. It's when we begin to acknowledge that he is in here and he loves me and he's more interested in my being delivered and healed than I have any idea.
Receiving the supernatural language is the easiest thing you have ever done in your life. Jesus is God's gift to the world. He's God's gift to the center. He's free, free gift. The Spirit of God is God's gift to the church. Hallelujah. Yeah. Hallelujah. And if you're born again, if you've received Jesus as your Lord and savior. If you haven't, that's the easiest thing you ever did.
Jesus take my life and do something with it. Come into my heart. I receive you as my Lord and savior. Now that I am. I'm asking you, Jesus. Fill me. To overflowing. With your Holy spirit. You said it. Luke wrote it down.You being evil. Give good gifts to your children. Your heavenly father. Will much more. Give the Holy ghost. To those that ask him. Well, I'm asking. And I'm receiving. You said it. I believe it. I have it. I thank you for it. Now I fully plan. To speak with my new prayer language. Thank you for giving me the utterance. I'll make the noise. You make the words.
