Kenneth Copeland - The Faith Way Of Doing Things

TOPICS: Faith

Father, we just thank You and praise You today. We open our hearts, we open our minds to be renewed to the way You think and the way You speak and the way You act, to do things Your way. And we thank You for it, and we give You praise and honor today for every word that's said and every deed that's done. In Jesus' name, amen.

Hallelujah. Praise God. Hey, don't forget the downloads, kcm.org/notes. You got that? Well, I just barely had it. Amen. Glory to God. Say, "Hallelujah," everybody. Thank You, Lord. That meant everybody in here, too. Okay. Hallelujah. Isaiah 55, our golden text on this week of broadcasts, Verse 8, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord".

Now, His ways are always the love way, the Word way, the faith way, "by the Holy Spirit", Jesus said, "It's the Father that dwells within me, he does the work", and by way of blood covenant. We could just say, "covenant," but, you know, a covenant's just a contract, ain't worth the paper it's written on sometimes. But a blood covenant, whoa, and particularly in the blood of the Lamb. You get the connection? The blood of the Lamb, the sacrifice, the covenant sacrifice of God. Hallelujah. Every word in this Bible is blood backed, blood bought, hallelujah. Boy, that thrills me. Mm. Just think about it. Glory to God.

Now then, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither my ways are your ways, saith the Lord". In other words, He's saying, "Take my word and come on up here and think with Me". Now, we want to talk about, today, the faith way. Now, let's back up a minute. Yesterday we were talking about the natural way, how the natural, unrenewed mind thinks. Let's go over to Romans. We want to look at Romans 12. He said, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service". Now listen to this: "And be not conformed to this world," or don't be conformed to their way of thinking. "But you be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God".

Now, hold that in your thinking, and let's look back here at the 8th chapter of Romans, and we'll go down to the 29th verse. "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate," or He put it in His plan, in His covenant, "to be conformed". Now, wait a minute. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hang on here. Hang on here. "Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind". Now, see, your spirit man, when you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, your spirit being was reborn. You're not just a forgiven sinner. That old man is passed away, and all things become new, and all things are of God. But now you've got to do something with your mind. And between your spirit and your mind, you can do something with your flesh, your body. Your flesh don't have any mind. It just does whatever it's trained to do. Now notice this, "by the renewing of your mind".

Now, get this. Listen to this: "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed". Don't be "conformed to this world, be ye transformed". But now, "to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren". He's firstborn. Hey, we're joint heirs with the firstborn. Glory to God. So, see, by the renewing of your mind, the more you begin to think God's thoughts, "My thoughts are higher than your thoughts, my ways higher than your ways. My Word goes forth". Well, you take the Word of God, and you renew your mind. You let it change the way you think.

Now I want to talk about this for a moment. The natural way of thinking is to look and see, feel and see, natural five physical senses. See, well, this is not evidence of things in the Spirit. This is evidence of things in the natural world. You have to have that, but that's not what we believe. Now, we read yesterday or the day before, I think it was yesterday, where we look not at the things which are seen, feel, look; see, feel, taste and so forth, but we look at the unseen. We look into the Spirit. How do you do that? By looking at His Word. If His Word says you're healed, you're healed whether you feel like it or not. And when you get on the faith side of it, the truth of God's Word will change the fact of the rash, the sickness, disease, whatever it is. But I have to transform, renew my mind some way.

Now, here, I want you to get this. The natural way and the renewed mind way, I go to the Word. Let's do it like this. Let me turn over here to I Peter 2:24, where it says... yeah, you get out of the book of James, it'd work better. I Peter 2:24, listen to this, "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed". That's what the Word says. "Yeah, but I'm not". Yeah, but you are. "Yeah, but I'm not". Yeah, but you are.

Now, so what's the problem here? My spirit man? No. My spirit man will take hold of the Word of God, the me, the real me, the hidden man of the heart, Peter called it. But see, my mind doesn't know which way to go here and my flesh is just hanging out there. It don't know anything. It's just there to be trained. So what am I going to have to do? All right, here it is. "His own self bare my sins", yes, sir, "in his own body on the tree, that we," or that I, "being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes I was healed".

All right. And my mind says, "Well, why don't you feel and see"? No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. You don't do that. No, you don't do that. See here? I keep this before my eyes. I'm renewing my mind. This is the way we think. That's the we used to think. This is the way we think. You know, I mean, when you're out on the road for a long time, you come in, I'm the most home person you ever saw in your life. I dearly enjoy being home. Whoo!

And it was 48 years ago or so, right when we first started. And Gloria had bought this great big ottoman. And it sat right in the front of my chair. And, of course, oof, man, I did enjoy just sitting in my chair and throw my feet up on that great big old ottoman. And, man, I liked it. I don't know what that thing weighed. Anyway, I got up, you know, I'm sitting up in there. Gloria and the kids had already gone to bed, and I was still sitting up in there, and in a little bit, I decided, "Well, I'm going to go on to bed". And I got up, and I walked across the room. You know what I did. I walked over there, turned off the light and started back across the room, and I had kicked that ottoman out, and oh, man, my toe went, "Pow"! I knew I broke it.

Now, here's another thing: Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks". We're going to find out right now what's in your heart in abundance. You're going to say something nasty, I don't care how born-again you are. If you ain't got it in there, it's not coming out. Whatever's in there is coming out, I'm telling you. This is the reason you need your heart full of the Word, and your mind full of the Word of God that says, "Praise God". And that's what I did. I said, "Glory to God! In the name of Jesus, thank You, Lord, I'm healed"!

Whoa, that toe's going, "Whoom, whoom, whoom". Ooh, man, it hurt. But I'm not saying anything but, "I'm healed". My faith is working, see. Well, I went on and went to bed, went to sleep by faith. Oh, yeah, you can go to sleep by faith. 127th Psalm, "He gives his beloved sleep". And my toe's hurting me, you understand? I finally went to sleep. I woke up the next morning, and it was like the devil was right here. Opened my eyes, and he said, "Look at that toe. Look at that toe. Feel that toe. You ain't healed"! Hee-hee, I mean, "Look and see, look and feel. Feel and see," you know, trying to get you back over in the flesh, trying to get you to think carnal.

If he can get you back over there, and you think, "Ugh, oh, boy, I'm telling you, oh, look at, that I didn't get my, oh, look at that". No, no. I threw my feet out of the bed, and I just raised the, you know, cover up, and just pitched my feet out there. Boy, when that foot hit the floor, that toe said, "Boom"! Whoa-ho-ho, it hurt, baby. I'm not kidding you. That's when somebody hollered another dirty word and said, "Baaaa! My blankity-blank foot is killing me"! Really? A born-again, Holy Ghost-baptized, tongue-talking, healing, believing Christian hollering out that his toe is killing him? You will if your mind's not renewed. You will if you're not full of the Word of God because when you're empty...

See, you're not talking out of your spirit, you're talking out of your unrenewed mind. You haven't got a spirit full of cuss words. You haven't got a spirit full of devil words. No, no, not if you're born again, huh-uh. But your spirit's all hunkered down in there, saying, "I can't get out of here. Let me out of here. Let me out of here". Amen. But at that moment, I heard the devil holler that again, "Look at your toe, it's black and blue". I said, "I don't have to look at my toe". "You're not healed. You're not going to get your healing".

I said, "Let me tell you something, Satan. I don't have to get my healing. Jesus got my healing 2.000 years ago, and I am receiving it today in the name of Jesus! It's mine, you understand"? So I shut my eyes, and I didn't look at it. I went over and got my socks out of the drawer before I did anything else, see, and I came over there, and I sat down in the chair, and I shut my eyes and put my s-s-s-s-socks over that toe. Whoo-hoo-hoo! And the devil said, "Look at it, look at it. Well, look at it and see. It's black and blue". And I said, "Satan, let me tell you something. I got a lot of friends, lot of them, that their toes are black all the time. And it doesn't matter to them that their toes are black. It don't matter to me that mine's black today".

You understand? I said, "I'm believing God here. I have God as my healer. Jesus is my healer, glory to God". And I put my socks on. "And just shut your mouth, Satan". I went into the kitchen. Gloria's in there fixing breakfast. And hey, I'm going to have to do it again here, you know, going in there. And most people walk in there and say, "Oh, Gloria, I broke my toe about midnight last night," or whatever time it was. "I just kicked that big blankity-blank ottoman there in the blankity-blank living room and I broke my blankity-blank toe". No. Or even if you're not that backslid, but you come in there and you say, "Oh, baby, I broke my toe this morning". "Oh, you broke your toe? Ohhh, then let me pray for you". Ain't no use praying for you. You done agreed with me that my toe is broke.

And Jesus said, "Any two of you on earth agree as touching any thing, it'll be done for you by my Father in heaven". And in this case, it'll be done for you by the devil that's in the kitchen. I let him in there. No, no. Gloria and I, we don't live like that. I came in there, and I said, "You know that big ottoman in there, in the living room"? "Yeah". I said, "About, you know, somewhere around midnight, 1:00 or 2:00 o'clock this morning, I kicked that thing and broke my toe, but I want you to know, Gloria Copeland, I'm healed by the stripes of Jesus. And in Jesus' name..." and so forth. She said, "Glory to God. I totally agree".

And we prayed. And I hobbled out of the room. And I headed to the airport. I had an appointment with a man. I walked in the man's office, walked up to the desk, and kind of hobbling up there. She said, "What happened"? I said, "Ho-ho-ho-ho, about midnight last night, I kicked a big ottoman we got there in the living room, and I broke my toe". "Oh, she said, "I'm so sorry". I said, "But you know Jesus said, when he was on earth, that 'whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed and cast into the sea, and not doubt in his heart, believe those things which he saith come to pass, you'll have whatsoever you saith.' And 'Whatsoever thing you desire, when you pray, believe you receive them, and I shall have them.' And so right then, I just believed and I received, and I believe I'm healed".

By the time I got to where it healed out, she'd already started scooting away from her desk, and she said, "I'll check with Mr. Spinx and see if he's here". And I thought, "Boy, she got out of there just"... Anyway, you know. And so I was supposed to look at, it was the first airplane we ever had in this ministry, a little single-engine Cessna. And so I came back, I talked to Mr. Spinx about the airplane, and came back out and thanked her. And I hobbled away to the car sitting out there in the parking lot. And I said, "Oh, Lord, I want to thank You that I'm healed. Glory to God, it's so good to be healed. Hallelujah".

Well, the airplane was just parked across the ramp, a little ways around there, you know, just enough to where... I sure wasn't going to walk over there. I would have probably walked around there if it hadn't have been for that ottoman. But anyway, I got in the car, and I drove around there. I got out, when I put my foot down on the ground, perfect. I didn't feel it. I never knew it happened. I stepped out, and I went, "Whoo! Glory to God". And I just danced around my car out there and everything. See, I could have put up with that for days, maybe even weeks if it's bad, whatever it is. If I had gone the natural way, if I had gone the carnal-minded way, it would eventually gotten well, but it would have hurt, it would have, you know, cost me a doctor's appointment or two and all of that mess.

But once you've renewed your mind, now how do you do that? You go to that Scripture and you say, "Now, see here, it says, 'By his stripes I was healed.' Now you see that? Now, mind, take hold of that. That's what we think. That's what we think. That's what we say". And I began to say it, and I say it. I think it and say it. Now, you remember what Jesus said? "Why take ye the thought, saying". You take that thought by saying it. "By his stripes you were healed". "By his stripes you were healed". And say, "Okay, mind, that's what we think. Now, this is what we think. This is what we do. This is what we say, this is what faith says, and I'm a faith man, and I'm walking by faith". Whatever it is, you go over there, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you". "Well, glory to God, all these things are coming. All these things are coming. Praise God, all these things are coming".

Write out Scriptures and put them up on the refrigerator. That's where you spend a lot of time. Just pin it right out there in front, great big letters. Hey, that's it right there. And you get it before your eyes. I mean, get the Scriptures up before your eyes and, praise God, this is it. This is what the Word says. I say what the Word says. I say what the Word says. God supplies my needs according to His riches in glory, so all of my needs are supplied. No, I'm not sitting here thinking, "I don't know what I'm going to do when". No, no, no, no, no, no. We don't think that way anymore. Now, what happens? "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks".

Now, we're renewing the mind, but we're not working on the mind. We're putting words of God in our inner man, in our heart, in our spirit being. You listening to me? And what's happening? Faith is coming. Faith is coming. Faith is rising. "Faith cometh by hearing, hearing by the Word of God". We're doing it the faith way. We're renewing our mind. "Be conformed to the image of God's dear Son," and it's coming up, it's coming up, it's coming up. Now, that Scripture then will begin to come out your mouth without you having to think about it. And when that happens, "Boom," it's full of faith, and your mind has been renewed to that verse. And that's the way you do it, over, over, over, over, over. If you're watching on BVOVN, you just get in total immersion in these things, and you start growing up spiritually in just a few days.
