Kenneth Copeland - How the Faith of God Functions
- Give to KCM
Hello, everybody. I'm Kenneth Copeland, and this is the Believer's Voice of Victory broadcast. Glory to God.
Father, we thank You tonight in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We open our hearts, we open our minds to hear and to understand more and more and more about Jesus, for revelation from heaven. And we give You the praise and the honor and the glory, and we boldly declare that the Greater One that lives within us will anoint each person's ear, to anoint each person's heart, to anoint each person's life, and to anoint me to stand in the office into which I'm called. And I thank You for it. And we give You all of the praise and the honor and the glory for the wonderful, wonderful, wonderful name of Jesus. Amen.
Well, praise God, everybody. This is a good time in the Lord. Amen. Let's open our Bibles to Mark 11. Amen. The most wonderful words ever spoken by human lips on the subject of faith. Glory to God. The teaching of Jesus, now you just can't get any better than that. Amen. I mean, that, hey, folks, that's the best there is. Amen. Now, Mark 11, and we're going to be talking again about mountain-moving faith, the insights, concepts of how the faith of God functions, because it is the faith of God.
So let's begin at Mark 11:22. "Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God". The cross-reference says, "Have the faith of God". "For verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall say unto this mountain", I want you to notice the word "whosoever". Amen? So see, this is not some special thing that can't anybody but just some kind of special, no, no. This is for every human being alive, because God has opened the door to the Kingdom of God, and Jesus is that door. Hallelujah. It is available for everybody on the planet. Praise God. And I thank God you and I found out about it. Amen. Hallelujah.
Now then, "Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have ought against any: that your Father also in heaven may forgive you your trespasses". Praise God.
Now then, let's go to the very basic fundamentals here just for a moment. This faith to which we refer is not natural, just for a moment. This faith to which we refer is not natural, human faith. Every, every, every, every human being breathing on the planet has faith. You couldn't function without it because humans are believers. Now, I need to say something to you here. Ha-ha. Unbelief is not non-belief. There's no such thing as "non-belief" unless you know, you're totally crazy. But even then, you believe you're something. Amen. Hallelujah.
So see, people believe. Unbelief is believing, we're talking about Biblical unbelief here now. It's talking about believing something other than what God said and what His Word said. You can believe what men have said. You could believe what religion has said. You can believe what, you know, Uncle Fred said, or somebody's uncle's cousin said what they thought their Aunt Minnie said. Amen. Unbelief is believing something other than what God said. Well, how do we know what God said? It's in His Word.
Now, Romans 10:17, remember that now. "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God". And I'm way ahead of myself. Let me get, I've preached this all day long. I'm going to get out of here the bottom line. Glory to God. Amen. Hallelujah. Now, who then has this mountain-moving faith of God? Every person that has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior has the Every person that has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior has the faith of God in them.
I tell you what, let's look at Ephesians 2. And notice, in the 8th, 9th, and 10th verses, no, let's back up and read, let's start reading at the 5th verse. "Even when we were dead in sin, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;) and have raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God".
Now, you notice, "by grace are you saved through faith". That's the same faith that Jesus was talking about, the faith of God. So let's take a look, then, in the book of Romans, and let's look in the 4th chapter of Romans, the 16th verse, "Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace". So you see, the faith came first. "Therefore it is of faith, so that it might be by grace". So now that late, somebody said, "Well, it said it was the gift of God. Which one, the faith or the grace"? Both of them. Amen. Both of them. Glory to God.
So now we're getting somewhere, so stay with me now. All right? Now then, let's look in Romans, oh, we're in Romans, right? Okay. Okay, okay, okay. Okay, all right, yeah, here I am. I'm here. Glory to God. You can tell I've been closed up all day, can't you? All right, Romans 12. Amen. Thank You, Lord. Romans 12:3, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you". Now, this letter of Romans was written to born-again, Holy Spirit-baptized believers in Rome. So what was for the believers in Rome is for the believers in Fort Worth or wherever you live. Amen. So he's not talking to just everybody. And we'll see this in just a moment. He's talking to those among you.
So now, look what he said, "that every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man among you the measure of faith". There's absolutely no difference. Every person born again got exactly the same amount of faith and it is the measure of Jesus' faith. Amen. Now, how do we know that? I'm so glad you asked. Let's go over to I Peter. I Peter 1, and look at the 23rd verse. "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which lives and abides forever".
Remember what we saw in Romans 10? "Faith cometh by hearing, hearing by the Word of God". The Word of God is the seed of the... that Word seed that entered into your being when you made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life. And the inner man, what the apostle Peter called "the hidden man of the heart," the real you are a spirit. That's what got born again, the real you. You got born again. In your spirit, you have a soul made up of your mind, your will, and your emotions, see. I'm not talking about your brain. Ha-ha-ha. That's in your body. That's a physical organ that your mind uses, but then on the other hand, so does your spirit.
Now, you got born again by the Word of God. And everything God is, everything Jesus was, everything Jesus is, everything Jesus ever will be was in that seed and gave birth to you. Amen! And you and I and Jesus are spiritually identical. Now, you know, religious folk, boy, I'm telling you, they'd just get completely bent out of shape with that because they still think Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. But He's not. He's the first born from the dead. He's the first begotten. Well, hey, ha-ha, we're begotten. Amen. Hallelujah. So now the faith on the inside of you is exactly the same as Jesus. The difference between you and me and Jesus is development. I mean, amen. The potential is all there, particularly when you add the Holy Spirit in His fullness and full operation on the inside of us.
Now, this is something that we'll talk about as the Lord brings us to it. When you got born again, you're born of the Spirit. Amen. And He is in there. Glory to God. I'm going to show you some things as the Lord leads that you're going to like. Amen. Glory to God. But now no one born again that has not been baptized with the Holy Spirit can function in the 12 manifestations of the Spirit known as the gifts of the Spirit. Those are ministry manifestations. There are nine of them. But on the other hand, there's nine fruit of the spirit, and that's born inside you the minute you make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life. That fruit is in there. And it'll grow and it'll grow. Amen. That's not the fruit of the Holy Spirit. No. Jesus said, "I'm the vine, you're the branch. Fruit grows on the branch". Glory to God. That fruit is in there.
And you come across some lovely, wonderful people that have never been baptized with the Holy Spirit, never spoken with other tongues, but I'm telling you, people that pray for people and they get healed. Amen. Because any believer can do that. Oh, yeah, it's like Jesus said, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Those that believe will be saved; and those that don't won't... and in my name". Didn't He say it? "In my name...", What? "cast out devils. In my name they'll speak with new tongues". All of them. "In my name they'll lay hands on the sick and they'll recover". But see, you can lay hands on the sick and not yet be baptized with the Holy Spirit and still get people healed. Amen.
Now, I've never known not being filled with the Holy Ghost, I mean, because Gloria and I got saved in November and we received the Holy Ghost in January, you know. And it was a while before we even knew anything, but well, we were walking in all the light we had. Praise God. But the baptism with the Holy Spirit is the open door to the miraculous. Hallelujah. All right. Now then, ha-ha. Glory to God. Every born-again believer's spirit is the same. If I got a larger amount of faith than you did, then we have a case we could challenge God with that. I mean, come on. No. That would mean somebody got a bad seed if it didn't have enough faith in it or it didn't have the faith of God in it. It was a corruptible seed. There's no such thing. Ain't no such thing.
And, I'll tell you this: The Jews didn't get one new birth, and we got some kind of other. No, no, no, no. Jesus is the author and the developer of our faith. Now, in order for us to make sure we're all on the same page here, I told you I would show this to you. Look at II Thessalonians 3. II Thessalonians 3, "Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith". So now that that separated then what He said in the book of Romans, "God has given to every man the measure of faith". But if you're not born again, you don't have that. You've got natural human faith, which you have to have that. I mean, anybody that can't believe something, ha-ha-ha, needs to stay out of the street. I mean, you know, I mean, here it comes. Ha-ha-ha.
I remember when John was just a little old boy, and the Lord instructed me way back there. He said, "Don't ever use fear to teach your children". And they've grown up to prove the fact that there's not any fear in them. But fear is learned, and so, I took him down. I said, I took both he and Kellie both, and stood them there in front of the car. I said, "Now, look at the size of that thing". "Yeah". "That's wonderful, isn't it? One of these days you're going to want to drive that, and Daddy's going to help you". Amen. "But now let me tell you something, that thing will squish you like a bug". And I'm laughing the whole time I'm saying this. And they laughed. I said, "Yeah".
And I said, "Now have sense enough to stay out of the street, you understand? Oh, yeah. Okay". Instead of "Daddy", You know, "Daddy's afraid you're going to get run over". No, Daddy ain't afraid of that. Amen. And they don't need to be afraid of it. They need to learn how to manage it. Praise God. But that's natural human faith. You cannot receive Abraham's blessing with that natural human faith. That's what Thomas tried to do when he said, "Unless I can see it and feel it, I'm not going to believe it". Jesus showed him His hands, His side. He said, "My Lord and my God". He said, "Thomas, quit being faithless". He said, "You have believed because you've seen, but blessed are they that believed and have not seen". So what's He saying? Believing the Word instead of what you see and feel is what releases the blessing. Hallelujah. Praise God. Amen?
