Kenneth Copeland - Keep God's Healing Covenant
Now, then, let's go back to the book of Hebrews this morning and thank You, Jesus. Look right here in this 12th chapter. We just came out of the great faith chapter last night. I want to point out to you where it says in the 19th verse. "And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more". He's talking about times passed and now verse 22. "But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels". Don't ever forget the angels. They're here this morning. Amen.
And the Scripture says, "Angels know the perfect will of God today by the church". Hallelujah, but now listen. "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, or complete. And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel". Now... mediator... This is in that scripture in Hebrew 12. One who intervenes between two either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact for the ratifying of a covenant. Glory to God. He's ratified it. He is the mediator, and he's here this morning by his Spirit. Glory to God. Amen.
Now, you just move right over here. "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever". The mediator is here this morning. And he is the same yesterday, today and forever. Well, turn with me to Matthew chapter 10. "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease". Then it gives their names. "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give".
So just feel free to cast out any devil that comes by you, just nail him. He commanded them. Did you hear that? He's the same. He's the same. Verse 16, "I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils," and so forth and so on. Now let's go over to Luke Chapter 10. He's the same. Say, "He's the same, yesterday, today and forever". "After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come". He sent out an advance team. "Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way".
Stay focused. "And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city. Woe unto thee, Chorazin"!
And so forth and so on. "For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell. He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through your name".
Now he hadn't been glorified yet. "The devils are subject unto us in your name. And he said unto them, I was there... I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power or authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. In that hour Jesus rejoiced in Spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes", hallelujah, "even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him".
Well, he's been revealed. Amen. And he is the same yesterday, today and forever. You remember, as he ascended the angel said, "You men of Galilee, this same Jesus will return". This same Jesus, this same one. Hallelujah. He's the law giver. Amen. And he's the head of all the prophets and the apostles. Glory to God. He is this same Jesus. Now we look to the Word. Let's look in Second Timothy 3 verse 16, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be mature, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the Word; Be instant in season and out".
Now when he says, "Preach the Word". What's he talking about. It's the Word of God. Why is it the Word of God? It is his bond. He's responsible for bringing it to pass. Turn with me, if you will, back to the 103rd Psalm. "Bless the Lord, O, my soul". Listen to what he said. He's speaking to his mind, his will and his motions, we need to do that. We need to be doing that. Just tell yourself to calm down. "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits". Psalm 68:19 says, "He daily loads us with benefits". I got loaded this morning. I just read from the Blue Letter Bible. What I read you, the mediator, the one who stands and carries it out. He's the mediator. Hallelujah. "Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;" Things is in italics.
Now, I'm no Hebrew scholar, but I understand that the Hebrew word for things is, "word". Because the King of the universe created it with words in the book of Genesis. "Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's". I really like that. But don't wait until you're my age to start this. I like what Gloria says, "You may be 20 years old but 40's coming". I mean it's on the way. So start it young. When I was young, I didn't know anything about that. My mother was... she had angina and a number of things and I was sitting up with her. I had my Bible and they had put IV's and in her hands and so forth. And I was sitting up with her and I was just sitting there and I had my Bible in my lap, and I was just sitting there and the Word of the Lord came to me and now listen to what he said... He said, "She doesn't need healing".
And I didn't say it very loud because she was asleep right there next to me. But I said, "Well, you could have fooled me". No, he said, "Have you never read in my Word that I would renew your youth like the eagle's"? He said, "Did you notice how quickly the bruises in her back of her hands healed up when you asked me to". Oh, Lord, forgive me. He said, "Did you notice how quickly the pneumonia in her lungs healed up when you asked me to"? I said, "Yes, sir". So I opened my Bible here to the 103rd Psalm. He said, "Her body's worn out. She didn't take care of herself. She never did sleep, she just prayed all the time. And her body is..." I asked my dad one time, I said, "Don't she ever sleep"? He said, "Kenneth she doesn't even wrinkle the sheets".
Well, she thought every ten years she's going to die because of what the doctors had told her. And when she hit 70 she called me on the phone, shouted so loud on the phone, I made it bless God, I made it. She made three score and ten. That was her goal in all those years. Well, after that, then she began to go downhill. Anyway, I looked at that and I read this entire Psalm and it invokes angels. It's part of our benefits as believers and I said, "Can I pray this for her now"? He said, "Well sure". He said, "All things are possible to he that believes". They were saying she was going any minute. She lived two more years. Amen, amen, hallelujah and did rather well. So let's continue here.
Now look this. He redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness. This is Covenant talks, the loving kindness there is the word Hesed. It is the lesser being blessed of the greater. It is a compound Jewish word that's very difficult to explain in English, but it is so powerful, David said when he found out Jonathan was dead, with whom he had a blood covenant, he said, "Is there anyone left to whom I can show Hesed. I want somebody at my table". His desire to bless his covenant offspring was driving him to find Mephibosheth and Mephibosheth set at his table and ate out of golden plates, glory to God. Hallelujah. Thank You, Jesus.
"He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger..." He doesn't hold a grudge. "He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. or reverence him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions..." My God, so far as the East is from the West, what is that? Continually around the globe, it's bigger than the whole world. Thank You, Jesus. And the healing power's here right now. So just receive it. Glory to God.
So sin is not a problem here this morning, sin is not a problem here this morning. And as we go, I'll prove that to you. "He's not dealt with us according after our sins". You see that? He's full of mercy and loving kindness. "Like as a father pitieth or cares for his children, so the Lord cares for them that fear him..." and reverence him. "He knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth." because it's only 120 years... "For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that reverence him and his righteousness unto children's children;"
To such as keep his covenant. There's the key. You walk in covenant agreement with him, hallelujah. A blood relationship "To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments," listen! "Hearkening unto the voice of his Word". Well, the voice of his Word is going forth here this morning, ministering spirits do your job in this place and out all over the world. Out there online. Glory to God, you jump and rejoice. There's no time or distance in the realm of the Spirit. Hallelujah. You're here and we're there... so rejoice, shout, glory to God. Hallelujah.
What is it? It's the shout of triumph. It's the shout of deliverance. It's the shout of healing. Bad habits are leaving right now, glory to God. You don't need nicotine or alcohol. You don't need Valium for peace, Glory to God, the chastisement of his peace is upon you in him. Whoa, hallelujah. "Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul". Glory to God. Now Psalm 107 and we'll take care of... We're talking about sin is not a problem here this morning. "Give thanks unto the Lord for he is good". Well, we give You thanks. You're a good God. I had a man come up to me and Brother Hagin said it happened to him just about everywhere he would go, if Oral Roberts had just been there, particularly after he came out on television.
This man came out to me and he said, "I wish he wouldn't say that". I said, "What"? "I wish he wouldn't say God is a good God". I said, "What do you want him to say? God is a bad God"? He said, "No, but he gives people the wrong idea about God". That's because people preach the curse and not the blessing. They go over there and don't finish that, that God will put sickness and disease on you, you know, to teach you. Well, no, we just found out the Word is good for correction. Amen. Praise God.
Verse 17, "Fools because of their transgression and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions". And it's happening right now, right here. Oh, thank You, Lord Jesus. We'll read that again. "Fools because of their transgression and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions". Glory to God. Now let's go over to the Second Covenant, to the book of James.
Look over there at this 5th chapter, verse 11. "We count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy". There's tender mercy again. "But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray". Now that's not sickness and disease, he started off with test, temptations and trials. So he's back over to that. "Is any merry? Let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith..." Faith in what? In the name, in the name of the Lord.
